25.01.2022 ONLINE PROGRAM COMING SOON ! For the last 16 years I have had the pleasure of helping thousands of women with their birth preparation and recovery with my Fit-4-2 pregnancy and postpartum program. Friends and clients have encouraged me to offer my programs online. I first met with my business consultant @professionalbabe @petaserras 3 years ago for advice about launching my program - but due to procrastination, self doubt , poor tech skills and feeling like I am too old ...and fat to get in front of the camera I have been making excuses. However Covid restrictions have pushed me out of my comfort zone and I am pleased to announce that 3 years later I am finally launching my first online course. For the last 10 weeks I have been working together with some amazing women @sydneynaturalfertility @dr.rohini.nagpal @carlabailey_resiliencecoach and @thebalancedingredient as we launch our first online courses guided by our fearless leader @professionalbabe. I will be launching the 3rd trimester course in September and the 4th trimester program to follow in October. To help women PREPARE-RECOVER & RESTORE These courses will be available to purchase individually or as a package. The 3rd trimester course is designed to prepare your body and mind for birth, prepare your pelvic floor and teach you skills for labour as well as planning for postpartum. The 4th trimester will help you recover and restore from a vaginal or Caesarean birth. There will be also be expert information from other Allied health professionals .... so watch this space for more info in the coming weeks To find out more and get on my mailing list please DM me with your email address #onlineprogram #birthpreparation #birth #activebirth #antenatalclass #pregnancypilates #pelvicfloorprep #thirdtrimester #forthtrimester

23.01.2022 GRAVITY assisted positions are the best way to work together with your baby to help them to move through your pelvis and be born. Birth is like a key in a lock. Your baby knows how to be born. Being uptight makes it easier for your baby to exit your body . Trust your birthing instincts and move freely. We don’t poo lying down so why birth that way?! ... Birth positions, birth moves and positions to optimize pelvic space are a big part of my Fit- 4-2 classes and have a whole module in my upcoming online course. #standupforbirth #birthpositions #fetalejectionreflex #birth #activebirth Posted @withregram @themindfulbirthgroup Unknown

23.01.2022 I have just written an article for @newcastle_baby magazine about the postpartum physio check up, great to see the message is getting out there Posted @withregram @birthtrauma.org.au When you attend your women’s health Physio appointments it is about YOU! YOU and your birth YOU and your body YOU and your mental health... YOU and your goals These are sessions that you deserve to discuss your birth, body, goals and ask any questions you may have. Based on your body and your goals, this session may involve: - an internal vaginal examination to assess your pelvic floor and healing. This can also determine your risk for return to exercise, strategies to assist in return to sex, and ways to maximise your pelvic health. We may do this in lying and/or in standing based on your symptoms and goals! - ultrasound examination of your abdominal wall, core and pelvic floor to assist in understanding your tummy muscles. This can be especially important for women with abdominal separation who want to learn to use their core, determine the exact distance of separation and ability to control the separation. It also teaches strategies to assist in tensioning the gap. - musculoskeletal examination of your muscle strength and mobility to assist in pain relief and return to exercise. This can be helpful for women who suffer from hip or back pain, breastfeeding aches and pains, or tailbone discomfort following birth. Exercise assessment and prescription to assist in return to exercise/sport, or strategies to strengthen the body All women deserve this assessment- not to feel forced into having further appointments or to raise concern about your pelvic floor or abdominal wall, but to be given information and options! It is your body and you get to decide what to do with it once you have the information- as long as you get the information in the first place! There is still time to sign the change.org petition calling for Medicare subsidised physiotherapy for postpartum

18.01.2022 Checking your breasts every month is great self care. Begin by looking at your breasts in the mirror with your shoulders straight and your arms on your hips. Look for: Breasts that are their usual size, shape, and colour Breasts that are evenly shaped without visible distortion or swelling... If you see any of the following changes, bring them to your doctor's attention: Dimpling, puckering, or bulging of the skin A nipple that has changed position or newly become inverted nipple Redness, soreness, rash, or swelling Now, raise your arms and look for the same changes Next, feel your breasts while lying down, using your right hand to feel your left breast and then your left hand to feel your right breast. Use a firm, smooth touch with the first few finger pads of your hand, keeping the fingers flat and together. Use small circular motions to cover the entire breast from top to bottom, side to side from your collarbone to ribs and from your armpit to your cleavage. Follow a pattern to be sure that you cover the whole breast beginning at the nipple, moving in larger and larger circles until you reach the outer edge of the breast. You can also move your fingers up and down vertically, in rows, as if you were mowing a lawn. This up-and-down approach seems to work best for most women. Be sure to feel all the tissue from the front to the back of your breasts: for the skin and tissue just beneath, use light pressure; use medium pressure for tissue in the middle of your breasts; use firm pressure for the deep tissue in the back. When you've reached the deep tissue, you should be able to feel down to your ribcage Finally, feel your breasts while you are standing or sitting. Many women find that the easiest way to feel their breasts is when their skin is wet and slippery, so they like to do this step in the shower. Cover your entire breast, using the same hand movements. Don’t panic if you think you feel a lump in your breast. Most women have some lumps or lumpy areas in their breasts and most turn out to be benign .There are a number of possible causes of non-cancerous breast lumps including normal hormonal changes. See your Doctor if you find a lump.

14.01.2022 Women’s Health Week is a week dedicated to women across Australia to make their health a priority! Often we are so busy caring for others that we neglect our own health and wellbeing. With the stress that 2020 brings ; Now more than ever it is time to prioritise your health and look after your your physical and mental wellbeing Remember you need to look after yourself before you can look after anyone else; fix your oxygen mask first. ... Do something for yourself to fill up your cup because you cannot pour from an empty cup. This week take time every day for some self care .... this may look like Taking time to nourish your body with nutritious food , drinking enough water , getting out in nature, moving your body. Stretching, doing your pelvic floor exercises, taking a few minutes to meditate and just breathe. Maybe booking yourself a massage or that medical or dental appointment you have been putting off. Even something as simple as having a coffee with a friend or relaxing in an epsom salt bath. Women’s Health Week is a great reminder to check in on your own health and make a few positive changes , even the smallest changes can have a cumulative affect #womenshealthweek2020 #postpartumcheckup #womenshealthweek #womenshealthmatters #womenshealthphysiotherapy #womenshealthphysio #pregnancy #postpartum #lookafteryourself #lookafteryou #lookafteryourskin #lookafteryourbody #mentalhealth

14.01.2022 Wow this is a big week in the Women’s Health and birthing community... Being both Women’s health week and Birth Trauma awareness week. 1 in 3 women describe their birth as traumatic ... that is approximately 100 000 women a year ... If you are struggling to recover from your birthing experience or are experiencing PTSD please seek the help you deserve to help your both your mental and physical recovery Having a birth debrief, seeing a Perinatal psychologist , contacting P...ANDA and/ or consulting a women’s health Physio are good places to start. Posted @withregram @birthtrauma.org.au To mark the beginning of birth trauma awareness week 2020, we want to acknowledge that giving birth can be a wonderful experience for most families but not all...... 1 in 3 Australian women identify their birth as traumatic. Partners can experience birth-related trauma too. This year's awareness week theme is 'Journeys' and we aim to demonstrate the unique and challenging journeys that many families face as they start parenthood. We are #startingtheconversation with the aim to provide families a platform to speak out instead of suffering in silence. We are calling on health professionals to recognise how truly individual birth-trauma can be and hopefully encourage better support not only through the birth process but long afterwards. Many families in our community often take a long time to have their trauma diagnosed and this may be why we see such fractured care pathways and such little recognition and support available. We see the long-term impact of birth trauma, we see the stories that the research misses. By raising our voices we can hopefully enable our care providers to improve trauma prevention and enable quicker diagnosis which benefits the whole family and our wider community. If you would like to support our cause during the week or if you would like support, you can contact us; [email protected] or sign up for our virtual fundraiser: https://fundraise.birthtrauma.org.au/event/walkntalk/ #birthtraumaawarenessweek2020 #breakthesilence #starttheconversation

13.01.2022 Nursing ergonomics- Prevention is better than cure for postpartum aches and pains. In the first few months of your baby’s life you will spend many hours feeding and whether that is bottle or breast it is worth having a designated feeding station - Your feeding throne . ... Before baby arrives I highly recommend setting up a nursing station with a good nursing chair, nursing pillow, extra pillows for comfort and a side table for your water bottle and nutritious snacks. When sitting in your chair your feet should be flat on the floor with your hips slightly higher than your knees, You may need to sit on a wedge or use a lumbar support behind your back to help you sit up onto your sitting bones. Bring your baby up towards your breast ( not vice versa) you may need extra cushions under the nursing pillow when your baby is small. Preparing your body during pregnancy for the demands of feeding and baby care is a good idea. In my Fit-4-2 pregnancy classes I focus a lot on your upper body and postural strength, thoracic mobility, scapular stability , upper limb strength ( rotator cuff / shoulder/ forearm and wrist strength) as well as the usual core and pelvic floor muscles. Being in a prolonged position supporting your baby’s head with your thumb held out from your palm may lead to wrist and elbow pain so try to rest your forearm on your feeding pillow underneath your baby. As tempting as it may be try to avoid constantly rotating your neck and looking down at your baby as your neck will get sore. It is worth doing some stretches for your neck and upper back after each feed - Tomorrow i will post a few of my favorites. #breastfeedingweek #physiotherapy #ergonomics #womenshealth #posture #forthtrimester

09.01.2022 A Pessary is a soft, flexible silicon device that is placed into the vagina to help support the bladder, uterus, urethra and /or rectum. Pessaries are a conservative option in the symptom management of pelvic organ prolapse. A variety of pessaries are available including cubes and rings. Some women need to wear them all the time and others just need a bit of extra support during sport. Pessaries can be used preventatively too ....... A pessary can be helpful during the postpartum period to help support your pelvic organs and fascia while the pelvic floor recovers. Pessaries have been likened to a sports bra for your pelvic floor. Wearing a pessary can be helpful for sports such as running or CrossFit to reduce the risk of causing or worsening pelvic organ prolapse. To get a pessary you will need to have a vaginal examination to be assessed for the type and size of pessary best for you . You will be educated on how to look after your pessary including how to insert and remove it. If you have any questions regarding pessaries or pessary fitting please reach out. #pessary #pelvicorganprolapse #postpartumbody #physiotherapy #newcastlensw @ The Junction

05.01.2022 Birth trauma too ... Posted @withregram @feministsexed There are so many ways that trauma can affect your sexuality. And just to be clear, I don't just mean sexual trauma. Major illnesses, car accidents, traumatic break-ups they all can affect your sexuality, too.... These are just SOME of the ways that trauma's side effects can show up in your sex life. If you're experiencing something that isn't on this list, that's okay. You're not alone in that. When it comes to working through our trauma, many of us ignore the sexual side effects because they feel too scary or overwhelming to deal with. YOU get to set your recovery timeline. You get to choose what you're ready to work on and when. Tomorrow's workshop, Reclaiming Pleasure After Trauma, will be diving into "trauma brain", trauma's effects on sexuality, and how survivors can slowly start bringing fully embodied pleasure back into their lives. If you want to join, tap the link in my bio or head to Shop.CassandraCorrado.com And if you're struggling on your recovery journey, I see you. It's okay to turn to resources for extra support. You can do this, and you don't need to do it on your own. . . . . #SurvivorSupport #Healing #RecoveryJourney #HealYourself #HealingIsPossible #SelfCompassion #SelfCare #WorkInProgress #SexEd #SexEducation #SexEdForAll #SexEdSavesLives #ThisIsPublicHealth #PleasurePositive #SexPositive #FeministSexEd #LGBTQ #Queer #PleasureIsYourBirthright #ITeachSexEd
