21.01.2022 Introducing the Skater Squat. An extremly effective lower body movement/diagnostic to assess & improve Uni-lateral (single limb) strength & symmetry. What makes it so effective?... - Spine friendly - Easy to recover from - Expose/strengthen weak links in the chain - Challenges the foot, ankle, knee & hip to stabilise in single leg stance - Balance out the Bi-lateral defecit One of the best predictors of future injury, aside from previous injury is a left/right asymmetry. Typical Bi-lateral (two limb) training isn't going to do you any favours if this is the case! Not only does the body find Bi-lateral lifts neurological confusing, If anything the asymmetry will become more pronounced & increase the risk! Introducing the theory of Cross Transfer. Training one limb independently of the other leads to an improvement in strength in the non working limb.
