25.01.2022 It’s time to kill the fear of resistance training that so many women have. Lifting weights will NOT make you bulky and it is NOT dangerous when done correctly. I understand that many have a fear of not knowing how to safely train using weights - allow me to help you put that fear and uncertainty aside to create a fitter and stronger you!

24.01.2022 EVERYONES GOALS ARE DIFFERENT! @isabellabrewster96 came to @fitbylys_ not with a weight loss goal - but a goal to work on her muscle definition and 6 weeks later she has certainly achieved that! We have been mainly working on tightening through the waist, building the booty and defining through the shoulders. I could not be more proud of this girl - always gives it 100% and is definitely one to watch as we progress to her next 6 week block. #GoIsi #MuscleGain #Define @ Fit by Lys

12.01.2022 REPOST @alexmaggie.fitness -give him a follow for AMAZING strength and fitness info BACKED BY SCIENCE!!! Reduce DOMS and perceived fatigue After Workouts DOMS (Delayed Onset Muscle Soreness) and fatigue reduction is something I get asked about a lot. Enhancing performance is not just about the physical training, but finding a balance to include rest and recovery. ... Adequate recovery between sessions is crucial to prevent injury, feeling burnt out and staying healthy. A paper by Dupuy et al (2018) in the Journal of Physiology assessed which methods of recovery were best in terms of reducing DOMS and an individuals perception of Fatigue. Key Messages: MASSAGE was the most effective in reducing both objective and subjective muscle soreness. Compression garments were effective in reducing feelings of fatigue and DOMS. Active recovery showed a large effect on DOMS but no effect on perception of fatigue. Practical Take Aways: Massage was shown to be the best recovery method for reducing DOMS and perception of fatigue. But lets be real. Unless you are a millionaire, or a high level elite athlete, accessing a massage several times per week between sessions is NOT a practical solution. Wearing compression garments also works well, but can be expensive, and need to be worn for a minimum of 24 hours post-training for results to be seen. This is also NOT the MOST practical solution. ACTIVE RECOVERY, although not showing as-good results as the massage or compression, is COST EFFECTIVE (it’s free), easy to do, and allows you to maintain the social and psychological benefits of exercise. MY SUGGESTION would be to limit massage to a time when your body feels most tired (as a means of psychological and physiological relaxation), and implement at least 1-2 active recovery sessions per week.
