25.01.2022 Hit and not be hit Yes, and No- Ultimately its about using your preferred style of fighting to outscore or knockout your opponent and sometimes that might actually mean getting hit...-... BUT the safest way to be victorious is to hit and not get hit- Just look at @floydmayweather and @lomachenkovasiliy They seem to be untouchable with their ring craft, feet positioning, defence, body & head movement- Next time youre on the bag or pads pretend like youre fighting against someone- Be aware of the movements you make before and after you throw a combination- This might be anything from fainting, stepping, slipping, weaving, parrying, blocking etc- Practice and drill this into your artillery until it become second nature when your boxing- @fightfitboxing #hitandnotgethit #boxing #boxingtraining #padwork

20.01.2022 Shoulder Conditioning 4 min Round Rest 1 Minute. Repeat 3-5 times... 30 Seconds of each exercises back to back for 3 minutes then followed by 1 minute of Shadow Boxing This is a great way to fatigue youre shoulders and mimic the lactic acid build up in a fight. The most important part of this drill is what you do between minute 3-4 once youre fatigued. Condition your arms to punch even when they feel like falling off. @fitept #fightfitfam

13.01.2022 What to look for in a boxing gym There are plenty of boxing gyms all around that offer essentially the same service- I would look for a raw old school boxing gym, that still smells like a boxing gym, with facilities that are clean and healthy, coaches that have fought more rounds than youve jogged around the block, members that are there for the same reasons as you, to learn how to box, get fit, and meet new people all within a safe and non-threatening environment-... As a newbie to the sport, theres a couple of essentials youll need to get started- Handwraps Learn how to put them on properly to protect your knuckles and keep your wrist stable.and to stop your gloves smelling- Gloves Pair of 10 oz or 12 oz. Gloves for bag/pad work and light enough to keep your shoulders from falling off (Check out our pro shop for the perfect fit). Pair of 16oz Gloves if you want to spar (and a mouth guard)- Sweat Towel Keep the sweat out of eyes, wipe up the mess you make and help your pad holding buddy out by stopping your sweat flicking into their face- Drink Bottle Stay hydrated throughout your session- Pads Get your own pads. If you thought there was nothing worse than putting your cleanly wrapped hands into a stinky pair of gloves, then youre wrong. Wrecking your own gloves because your sharing pads with your partner who has no sense of hygiene is highly disappointing- Flat Shoes or Boxing Boots To help establish and improve your balance early on. When you wear high heeled running shoes it changes the way you stay on the balls of your feet and can often throw you off balance- Training Clothes The comfiest clothes for training for both males and females are singlets that dont rub/or stick to your body, shorts or longs that dont chauve the insides of your legs. Double socks so you dont get blisters on your feet. Hat/Sweatband so you dont get hair or sweat in your face- Quality Coaches A good coach or instructor that can guide you through the correct technique to ensure youre always learning, working hard, having fun and testing you mentally and physically.and sometimes emotionally @fightfitboxing #boxing #fightfit #melbourne

05.01.2022 How many boxing sessions should I do per week...? I always recommend that you start you start with 2-3 sessions per week- I recommend at least 2 sessions to get yourself into a training routine-... 1 Session isnt enough, youll forget what youve learned by the time next weeks rolls around and your progress will be very slow- If youre new to boxing training you need to decrease the intensity (60% effort) when you first start hitting the pads or bag. This will allow you to focus on your technique and form to prevent injury whilst you build up your fitness and strength- Technique before speed and power famous boxing trainer- Im running FREE Fundamental sessions Monday & Tuesday nights at 6pm and Saturday 8:30 am for beginners focussing on punching and pad holding technique.
