18.01.2022 WARNING** Do not buy a Jeep/Dodge/Chrysler/Fiat Some of you know I have had ongoing problems with my 2010 Dodge Journey. *Brakes failing within the first 3 mon...ths & continuously after that *A faulty water pump * Interior Electrics not working * Indicator not working * Doors unable to lock or unlock * Horn beeps randomly (even when the car is parked in my driveway with no one in it) * Engine shutting off while driving I have taken the car to Dodge so many times and the say that 1- There's nothing wrong with my car 2- It's not faulty & not their responsibility A few weeks ago on the 18th Feb 2016 was one of the scariest days in my life. While driving my "Dodgy" Dodge Journey my car literally caught fire. Nat and I were in the car and it started smoking. I thought here we go again it's overheating again and the instruments haven't warned me it was overheating. The smoke increased and surrounded the car. We had cars beeping at us telling us to pull over. I was trying to get to my mechanic who was just a stone through away so I kept going. There was a little old lady frantically gesturing for us to pull over. When I caught up to her I quickly thanked her & said I was trying to get to my mechanic. She desperately yelled, "No get out of the car!! There is fire!!" We pulled over just to check. Smoke was pouring out of the bonnet at this stage. I'm still thinking my car is overheating & will start to cool down soon. My mechanic was walking down towards us, when we noticed black smoke. My mechanic started running towards my car and immediately popped the bonnet. There were flames everywhere. Canada Bay Council workers happened to be driving past and had a hose on their truck and jumped into action to put out the fire just in time. North Strathfield Fire Brigade turned up minutes later. Although it was a very bad situation it could have gone so much worse and feel very thankful that we actually got to go home to our families that night. I feel very blessed and extremely thankful! Thank you to the guys at Canada Bay Council who stopped and help put the fire out also to the Firemen at North Strathfield Fire Station. My mechanic who quickly raced down to where I was. My Dad who came to support and rescue us from the sidewalk. Nat who is the calmest bloody person I know in a bad situation. We have kept this off Social media hoping that Dodge Australia would do the right thing by us and buy our big fat LEMON back. Last Friday we were notified by both Dodge Australia & Parramatta Motor Group that they do not feel they are responsible and will not be refunding or fixing our car in anyway. A mechanic inspected my car immediately after the fire and reported the Oil hose burst spurting all over my exhaust and causing the engine to catch fire. He also took video of the oil spurting out of the hose when the car was turned on. Parramatta Motor Group report: "Water in the motor caused the engine to catch fire." ????? WT??? This is an absolute disgrace that these big wig corporations get away with incidents like this. They need to be accountable and stop selling us their piece of shit cars. We need to get these "death traps" off our Australian roads. Please feel free to share this post with your loved ones!
