25.01.2022 ACNE FACE MAPPING This is just a brief guide to understanding triggers that may be causing your skin to breakout. Acne can be quite a complex issue & many different causes may be impacting your skin, such as hormonal & blood sugar imbalances, inflammation, heavy metals, stress, liver detoxification, digestive function, food intolerances, poor diet & lifestyle choices. Take the stress out of trying to find what works for you & book into see a qualified practitioner that listens to you & can help address the drivers of your acne.

25.01.2022 How to build a healthy meal You can easily make simple & healthy meals by cooking up a range of different vegetables which you can use as a base for your meals, then add your source of carbohydrates, my go to right now is black rice. Cook up your source of protein & then store them in glass containers in the fridge. Then I like to add my source of healthy fats once I’ve made my meal.

24.01.2022 Healthy hormones are so important for healthy mood, motivation, fertility, heart rate, energy, brain health, decreasing inflammation, digestion, libido, skin health, appetite, metabolism, growth & development etc They can be affected via stress quite quickly. So it is vital to support the body’s ongoing stress response whenever looking at hormonal imbalances. Some factors that the body may see as a stressor..... Poor gut health/malabsorption Nutrient deficiencies/sensitivities Systemic inflammation Your lifestyle/work/rest/sleep/over exercising Poor diet/skipping meals/low fat diets/high sugar diet Insulin resistance/blood sugar imbalances Viral infections Autoimmunity/thyroid function See more

24.01.2022 B A L A N C E What is balanced nutrition to you? For me it’s choosing foods that I know make me feel good, both physically & mentally. I used to have a fixed mindset of good & bad foods & would constantly crave foods that I had deemed naughty. Because I restricted these, I craved them more..this led to feelings of guilt ... Point of the story, eat a variety of fresh colourful foods but if you really want that piece of chocolate, that pasta dish on the menu, a glass of red wine...go for it & don’t feel guilty doing so!

24.01.2022 H O R M O N E S My hormones are imbalanced is something I hear all the time in clinic. As a Naturopath, it is important to look at the whole picture & assess the underlying cause to your symptoms. What else may be going on... Poor gut health Low thyroid function Low cholesterol Stress/ HPO axis dysfunction Nutrient deficiencies Inflammation/oxidative damage Obesity Poor liver detoxification/impaired methylation Genetics Swipe to see some signs & symptoms of hormonal imbalances. If you are confused because they all sound similar & you feel you have all of them, then take the guesswork out & book in to see a qualified practitioner that can help

23.01.2022 Glowing skin smoothie This recipe (swipe) is amazing for nourishing your skin from within

21.01.2022 T H Y R O I D The thyroid is a small but important gland, producing hormones that regulate your metabolic rate, as well as other important cell functions. Some factors that can affect thyroid function:... High levels of stress (mental, physical & emotional) Inflammation Nutrient deficiencies (Iodine, Selenium, Tyrosine, Zinc & Bs) Low iron/anaemia Certain medications Food intolerances (gluten, dairy & soy are common ones) Consuming high amounts of raw brassicas (kale, broccoli, cauli, Brussel sprouts) Estrogen dominance Toxin exposure (alcohol, smoking, environmental toxins & heavy metals) Low calorie diets for long periods of time & carbohydrate restriction Excessive exercise Breast implants Autoimmunity Blood sugar dysregulation/insulin resistance/diabetes Liver & kidney function Genetics If you feel like you are experiencing symptoms, it is important to get this tested properly (TSH is not always going to show what your other thyroid hormones are doing).

21.01.2022 27.02.21 I must say it’s been a struggle to come back down to earth from the excitement & happiness but so glad to have these snapshots of the most perfect day! I promise I’ll be back into posting health stuff soon xx

20.01.2022 Cortisol... The pesky stress hormone! While cortisol in small amounts helps us become more resilient, an excess like anything can become problematic! High cortisol happens when you’re in that acute fight or flight response. Low cortisol happens when you’ve been under stress for a long period of time, exceeding your mental & physical resources leading to adrenal exhaustion & chronic fatigue.... Naturopathic treatments for stress utilise herbs to modulate the nervous system & stress response, nutrients to support neurotransmitter synthesis & supporting long term lifestyle & dietary changes Swipe to see the effects of both high and low cortisol

19.01.2022 Honestly how many of you have felt an overwhelming amount of stress this year!? Who also feels guilty for taking some time off!? ... If so I encourage you to put your phone away & do something that makes you smile

19.01.2022 S T R E S S Stress is something I love to support in clinic as we live in such a fast paced lifestyle & even if we may not feel emotionally stressed our body can still be in a stressed state. Factors outside of emotional stress can still impact the body, whether it’s poor diet, blue light, pollution, bacteria/viruses, injury, chronic illness/pain, medications, excessive exercise etc... It’s always my goal to address all factors that may be contributing & help to bring the body back to homeostasis (balance)

16.01.2022 R U OK? You may be asking everyone else if they are ok today but have you asked yourself? Sometimes it’s so easy to plaster a smile on your face & get on with the day, right? ... Don't forget the importance of looking after yourself. It's easy to put others first, it's not selfish to admit your struggle and need help too

16.01.2022 Cold water swims to help decrease Stress & Anxiety Exposing yourself to cold water increases stimulation to the vagus nerve, a cranial nerve that runs from your neck all the way down to your abdomen & can play a big role in our stress response! As your body responds to the cold water, it activates your parasympathetic nervous system (rest & digest) & decreases sympathetic nervous system (fight & flight).... So next time you feel stressed, anxious & overwhelmed splash your face with some cold water, go for an ocean swim or stick your head under a cold shower & see how you feel!
