25.01.2022 Yep it’s definitely Friday - a nap anywhere is good PT & Bootcamp on tomorrow as per normal Also - new Bootcamp block commences as well

25.01.2022 As most of my clients know I’ve been around endurance sports my whole life & I have so much respect & admiration for the athletes who compete in these events. One of my favourites is the Tour De France. I remember watching this event on SBS since 1999. ... Currently the tour is about to finish & we have an Aussie on the podium!!! The first time since 2011. To give you a bit of insight what it’s about, what they go through & what they eat/drink will blow you away The Tour De France has been running since 1903 & is Described as one of the most gruelling endurance events on earth Only 1 Aussie has won it - Cadel Evans 2011. & today Aussie Richie Porte has claimed 3rd place!!!! Also Aussie Caleb Ewan (from southern highlands) won a few sprint stages this tour & has 5 stage wins to his name. Info; 3 weeks 21 stages 2 rest days Covering 3,470km plus more. Sprint, mountain & time trial stages & passing through the mountain chains of the Pyrenees and the Alps, and the finish on the Champs-Élysées in Paris. A stage can be anywhere from 120-250km on the bike. 4-7hrs approx. The Tour de France is as nutritionally challenging as it is physical. With riders spending up to six hours a day on the bike with minimal time for recovery and just two rest days over the entire event, feeding the world’s greatest riders during a Grand Tour is no mean feat. This can be anything from 5,000 calories a day on a flat stage to 7,000 calories on a hilly stage. Riders usually consume a mix of real foods and gels to hit roughly 60-90g of carbs per hour. This is what a hard stage might look like. Two rice cakes, a croissants with jam and ham, 6 energy bars, 2 isotonic gels, 2 cans of coke, 6 bidons of electrolyte drinks. Recovery start the moment a rider gets off their bike. Avoiding dehydration is another challenge sweat losses can be in excess of three litres during hard stages, and riders may need to consume up to 10 litres a day to maintain fluid balance. Fluid is lost through sweat and breath, and losses are exacerbated in the heat. But it’s not just fluid electrolytes such as sodium and potassium also need to be replaced to avoid the risk of hyponatremia, or low sodium levels, a potentially fatal condition that can be caused by overdrinking plain water. Most teams drum into their riders the importance of the nutritional 20-minute ‘golden window’, which starts as soon as exercise stops. Absolutely amazing athletes.

09.01.2022 24hr race recap post Sorry for the delay (3 weeks since race) but I wanted the accomplishment of what was achieved to really sink in & to respect the competitors. I came up with this crazy idea & gave the racers 6 weeks notice. Lots of planning & organising was underway... Most of the competitors haven’t ran over 21km before, never competed in a marathon or an ultra. This was all new to everyone. The planning, clothing, nurtition, equipment, strategies etc was all different. It was a massive challenge for everyone. As a team a lot of goals were achieved. - Moving time was 6am till 830pm (including delays). - It rain pretty much the whole race. Only had 2/3hrs of sunny weather. - Race was paused for an hour or so due to the storms. - Disciplines of running, walking, swimming & cycling. - I made the decision to medically retire the competitors between 6-830pm & plus the weather didn’t help either. My job was race offical, pit crew, aid assistance on course & many more. I had to make some calls during the race to ensure the safety of the racers. It was my decision to stop the race early & it was the right one. In total 485km was covered by Ben, Pam, Greg, Sammy, Adelina, Jason & myself. I am beyond proud of everyone. It was a big task in challenging conditions. Everyone learned a lot from this race & you learn to appreciate what your body can do. Congrats everyone & look forward to the next one

08.01.2022 Hi F2SU family Just a friendly reminder Daylight savings starts this Sunday morning. - Clocks forward an hour... - Lose an hour of sleep - But we get to exercise Enjoy your day

07.01.2022 I never post about my races on here but I wanted to share this particular race to the awesome F2SU clients & I believe you all can relate. Last Sunday I competed in a triathlon & it was probably my worst race in 23years of competing. Even as former elite/pro this was a shocker. 1km swim; Had an anxiety moment at the start of the swim, swam to shore after 200m, took my wetsuit off & swam the rest after wanting to give up. I really consider walking away.... - I was 2nd last out (normally near the front pack), 6-8mins slower than normal. 30km bike; Average, ok pace . Got lapped. Lost my confidence a bit. Haven’t ridden the race bike since last November. - 8km run. Mainly a walk/shuffle due to health reasons. Finished 2nd last, my worst place ever. Yep I wanted to quit. Yep I wanted to walk away. Yep I was embarrassed. Yep it hurt my confidence. Even though I haven’t done any training, my 4th baby born 6 days prior & running a business. These aren’t excuses to make. You can make up all the excuses all you want but it’s all on you, no one else & you have to accept that. Racing is racing & I am truly grateful to be back. Take it as it comes & learn from failure. I know there is a lot of clients who can definitely go outside their comfort zone & challenge themselves in some way. Enjoy your long weekend

02.01.2022 *24hr ultra multisport race* I came up with this crazy idea approx 4 weeks ago & wanted it to be an insane challenge to achieve. On the 31st of October Jason, Pam, Ben, Sammy, Adelina, Greg & myself will be competing as a team in a 24hr race.... 24hrs of various disciplines; running, walking, trails, swimming, cycling & Pt studio. There will be rules in place, a tally board to track all our moving times throughout the race & certain targets we want to meet. E.g. - minimum 2 people must be moving at all times. - Not everyone allowed to be all out at once. - Minimum pit stops Looking forward to the suffering More info to come later

02.01.2022 Running a business 7 days a week, 3 young boys plus a newborn girl, up at 2/230am on weekdays to get things ready & I make it work. Yes I’m tired. Yes it can be hard. Yes there is days when I don’t feel like it.... Yes I have had to change things, be more adaptable to help out my family & my amazing wife. I do it because I simply love it. I love what I do. I don’t make excuses of why I can’t do it. I don’t msg clients saying I don’t feel like it today. I always give my best. If it’s important to you - you will make it work & you will overcome your challenges
