21.01.2022 Welcome to 2021

21.01.2022 We're into our second week of training outdoors at Discovery Coast Sport and Rec grounds to adhere to COVID restrictions, and the crew are doing a great job resisting the cold weather and slamming their sessions. Keep up the good work!

21.01.2022 While I'm having treatment for the next few months and am not able to train you all, I thought I'd post a few simple tips to help you maintain your health and fitness. The first tip... KEEP YOUR ROUTINE. You've been coming to me for possibly years at the same day and time each week. Keep this time for your exercise. If you aren't inspired to repeat some of the exercises we used to do, do something simple. Go for a walk. Put the kids on their bikes and walk beside them. Put yourself on a bike. Use that piece of home exercise equipment that is covered in dust. Even going for a meander will help mental health and heart health. Stick to the scheduled routine that has worked for you and enjoy!

18.01.2022 Who says fitness can't be fun?? It was supposed to be a 5 minute warm up using 2 halved pool noodles and a ball, but turned into 20 minutes of puffing, sweating and laughing! Great stuff!

13.01.2022 For everyone participating in the Agnes Water Triathlon tomorrow... revel in the success of your training!

12.01.2022 Time to get back into training??

12.01.2022 Next tip for home training...YOU DON'T NEED EXPENSIVE EQUIPMENT! Sure, the proper equipment certainly makes it simpler to exercise, but you can't use that as your only excuse not to exercise. You have a body - do body weight exercises. You've all done a bodyweight session with me in the gym. All those old fashion basic exercises (push-ups, pull-ups, squats, lunges, etc) do actually work. You can even do these while you are doing a walk or jog... walk 500m then do some bodywei...ght exercises, repeat, repeat... Utilise the environment around you - walk up and down stairs, use playground equipment to do incline push-ups or pull-ups, use the soft sand on the beach to make your walk more intense. If you want to get creative, fill a bottle with water/sand/dirt to use as a dumbbell. Remember, if you are doing nothing at the moment, then something/anything is a step up. Let your imagination go wild!! See more

08.01.2022 Christmas is nearly here!!!!

06.01.2022 As at midday today we are able to go back in the gym, following COVID-19 restrictions, social distancing and infection control procedures...woohoo!!!!!!! As it is short notice (this wasn't expected for another fortnight) Tuesdays group session will still be at Discovery Coast Sport and Recreation Association and we'll start in the gym on Wednesday. Can't wait to get you all back in there.

05.01.2022 I'm so excited...I will be back in the gym running sessions from 4th May! I will be contacting all of my current clients over the next week to check who wants to return and what sessions they would like. If you are interested in becoming a new client send me a message and I can let you know what is available. Can't wait to get back to it!!!

02.01.2022 Intake vs Output... Whether your goal is to lose weight, gain weight, build muscle, tone up or get healthier, you should consider what you eat. There is a balance between what food you eat and what energy you use, and the tilt of this balance alters the outcome within your body. If you eat lots of food and don't move you will gain weight. If you don't eat anything and run 100km you will lose weight. That's the simplistic version, but you get the idea. Also consider the types ...of food you eat, eg if you want to build muscle it is advantageous to have sufficient protein in your diet. Of course, we are about to enter the week where all diets and eating plans go out the window, to be replaced with Xmas dinner, leftovers, pavlova, caramel tart and lots of drinks of the sugary kind. To be followed closely by the regret of tummy ache and extra kilos! Start planning now what you want to do after the silly season, when those New Year Resolutions arrive. Stock your cupboards and fridge with the foods you want to be consuming when you get your eating patterns in place, then there's no excuses once 2021 starts! See more

02.01.2022 School is back in and life goes back to normal. If you want to take advantage of the cooler months to get ready for your summer wardrobe, now is the time. I have a few morning timeslots free for personal training one-on-one, or bring a friend and train together... Mondays 10:30 Tuesdays 10:30 and 12:00 Thursdays 9:00 and 10:30 If you want to get started but these times don't suit give me a call and we'll see what might work.

01.01.2022 If we were open, this is the week that we'd be playing all Aussie music... The Living End, Cold Chisel, AC/DC, Hilltop Hoods, INXS, Hunters & Collectors, Aussie Crawl, Choirboys, Divinyls, Hoodoo Gurus, Powderfinger...aargh there's just too many to name! And of course we'd have the Aussie Powerbar mix in the group sessions. What's your favourite Aussie song to work out to??????

01.01.2022 Here's my next tip for you while I'm out of action... STRETCHING We all know how tight our body gets when we don't stretch, and how good it feels when we do. Even if you aren't motivated enough to exercise you can still stretch. Stretching is best done when the body is warm, which isn't hard to achieve... walk around your yard a few times and get the blood moving through your body. Then do some gentle stretches. You can do this while you sit in front of the tv in the evening. Or when you get up in the morning. Gentle stretches to feel the lengthening of your muscles, keep your body in balance and loosen everything up. You've done our stretch routine at the end of every workout you've ever done with me... see what you can remember!

01.01.2022 No fitness tip this week... it's Christmas! Time for some non-fitness-related Xmas funnies...

01.01.2022 I hope you all have a fantastic day, sharing food, drinks and laughter with family and friends.
