21.01.2022 Why are habits so important? . I’ll let you in on a secret Success is neither magical nor mysterious. Success is a natural consequence of GOOD HABITS! . There is SO MUCH information on here about what you should be doing to achieve ‘x’? How to lose ‘x’ amount of weight? ‘X’ amount of calories you should eat, do these exercises to achieve ‘x’. And it can get pretty overwhelming, right???... . So how can we overcome this? Take BABY STEPS . Choose ONE THING at a time to focus on. ONE habit you can conquer over the next few weeks. For example it could be; Aim to walk for 15 minutes per day Lay out your workout clothes before you go to bed Add an extra serve of veggies to every meal Drink an extra glass of water each day Take the stairs . 21.01.2022 Never in my wildest dreams did I think that I would be able to have a career let alone a job that I would be able to go to without having anxiety attacks. I lost so many jobs due to anxiety and the management of the companies I worked for didn’t help my situation at all. It’s so sad that companies preach about how they care for employees well being and have ‘x,y,z’ in place for mental health situations, yet when an employee needs their help they shove their head in the sand a...nd don’t want to deal with it . I could not be more grateful and proud of myself for not giving up on me I found my passion. I was stubborn about what I wanted my life to look like. And I went out and fought for that . It is absolutely absurd for me to wrap my head around the fact that I absolutely LOVE my job. I go in earlier than I need to just to hang out. Even though I am absolutely exhausted sometimes there is no place I would rather be because it’s just that much fun. I love talking about my work with family and friends. I am excited to get up at 4:30am to inspire and motivate others. I enjoy the company of my colleagues and members. I have built so many beautiful relationships. I get to help people step into their own power and embrace being the amazing person that they are!! . If you are going through a hard time right now, I know it is freaking hard, but please try not to lose hope. You are enough and you are powerful One day you’re going to tell your story of what you are going through now, and it will become apart of someone else’s survival guide . 18.01.2022 Let’s talk about the power of GRATITUDE . YES it is good to have goals. YES it is good to want more in life. YES it is 100% amazing to manifest more.... HOWEVER, how can you appreciate these things when you get them if you can’t even be grateful for what you have now? . I can tell you from experience, if you write down 3-5 things at night that you are grateful for from the day, your mind automatically starts to feel grateful in the moment when the good thing is happening and it will absolutely TRANSFORM your life . 15.01.2022 Why do I do what I do? . I have been through my own journey over the last few years (swipe to see). At the end of 2017 I was in a bad place mentally and physically and I decided something had to change! . I was struggling with depression and anxiety, didn’t have a job due to the extent of my mental health and didn’t know what I wanted to do with my life. I had no self confidence and my self-esteem was at an absolute low. I was at a point where I was trying to be what I though...t everyone wanted me to be. I said yes to everyone else and there was nothing left to give myself. I thought I’d never be able to feel good about myself, never have a career, never be happy and never be good enough . I decided things needed to change. I began doing 20 minute HIIT workouts in our spare room, educated myself on how to read food labels, stopped eating out/ordering Uber Eats so much and started putting myself first! After a couple of months I joined a gym and participated in classes! . Having a gym routine and eating healthy, nourishing foods helped my mental health so much, I couldn’t believe it. Beginning my fitness journey changed my life around completely! It has helped my confidence, strength, resilience, learning to put myself first, prioritise self care and it’s given me a new life completely! . I decided to study fitness so I am able to help other people find their new lease on life and really step into power, embrace who they are and create a life where they are excited to wake up and slay each and every day . This is only just scraping the surface of my story and I really want to share as much as I can as a means to show that: 1. You are not alone 2. 15.01.2022 The scale will only tell you the numerical value of your gravitational pull. It will not tell you how beautiful you are, how much your friends and family love you, or how amazing you are! . One thing I work on with my clients is understanding that the number on the scale isn’t the most important or accurate way to measure progress when it comes to having health and fitness goals. Secondly, it is NORMAL for your weight to fluctuate - Especially for women! (Swipe to see e...xamples of weight fluctuation throughout clients fitness journey) . I like to get my clients to take progress photos and we also track workouts as well as do mental check in’s as a means to see how we are progressing rather than relying on the number the scale tells us. . 13.01.2022 Last night I felt bloated, heavy and exhausted after a long day. I felt so upset with my body, how it was feeling and how I perceived it was looking, but to be honest I was that exhausted I couldn’t even be bothered to have a cry about it, but if I had the energy I definitely would have! . So, this is YOUR reminder today that nobody no matter their age, body composition, weight, gender, or anything feels 100% confident and happy in there body all the time! It is NORMAL to hav...e insecurities about your body, we all have them and that’s part of what makes us human. BUT what we need to remember is that our bodies are all BEAUTIFUL and AMAZING They do so much for us, they allow is to breathe, to walk, to run, to laugh, to hug, to dance and to love! So wouldn’t it be a shame to hate on something that does so much for us and allows us to live all for a distorted version of having the ‘perfect body’ that we create for ourselves based on Instagram models?? . 12.01.2022 Took a time out over the weekend! On Friday it became super apparent to me that I was straight up EXHAUSTED I decided to leave my work phone in my drawer all weekend and we headed to the coast for the night as a way to try and clear my mind . I realised that I most definitely was not getting enough sleep and I wasn’t eating how I normally would This lead me to feel super fatigued, heavy and it also effected my mood as well. Although this is not ideal, I am grateful to hav...e experienced this as it really reminds me of how much the lifestyle you set for yourself impacts your mind, body and mood! . I absolutely love my job and my main goal is to help people create a healthy lifestyle and fall in love with being themselves However, I am unable to do this to my full capacity when I am not 100% looking after myself - you can’t pour from an empty cup! . So, this week my goals are: Prioritise sleep! Focus on my nutrition! NOTE: This does not mean counting calories, for me it simply means prioritising my fruits, veggies and being mindful of my macros! 11.01.2022 R U OK DAY . A cause VERY close to my heartI also just want to put a TRIGGER WARNING on this for mental health conditions . 2 years ago on this day I remember I was working a casual retail job where they told everyone to wear a yellow t shirt and got cake and treats to support R U OK day. People asked me are you okay? I smiled and said yes and that was that.... . The reality was that I most certainly was not okay. This is a great day to highlight the importance of checking in on each other, however asking are you okay? once a year is not enough. . It is important to understand that mental health conditions such as anxiety and depression are not ‘cute’ or ‘quirky’. They are conditions which have a strong impact on a persons life and can be quite debilitating. I have lost sleep, jobs, days, weeks and opportunities to my own mental health conditions. . I have experienced anxiety, depression and PTSD and I am so thankful that I have come out the other end stronger and more resilient than I have ever been. It is not an easy thing to battle. There were times where I thought there was no where out. Time that’s I honestly couldn’t see the light at the end of the tunnel. Times where I was ready to give up forever. . So, I want you to know that YOU have the power. You are STRONG, RESILIENT and CAPABLE, even though your illness is telling you that you aren’t. . You are WORTHY of achieving everything you desire in life I can tell you from experience that it can and will get better even if you can’t see it yet . 10.01.2022 It’s been a day! . And that’s OKAY! It happens to all of us . Although I am an anxious bean today, I can’t help but feel grateful for all the caring and supportive people I have in my life... . I come from a background of debilitating anxiety mixed with toxic work environments where when I needed to take the day off I would be made to feel stupid, not good enough, like how I was feeling wasn’t valid or important and it just made the way I was feeling worse . This is something that I am still overcoming. I am trying to not be so hard on myself when I need a time out. I care about my work and my clients so damn much, and I felt like it would be a disservice to my clients to just ‘solider on’ today and train them. They deserve the absolute best service and the best me to take them through their sessions. I couldn’t provide that today, and that’s okay. And I am so grateful for their understanding and caring responses . I want to remind everyone that mental illness is just as real and debilitating as physical illness. If you are surrounded by people who make you feel weird, guilty, dramatic, stupid, or anything like that for having a mental illness, you HAVE to find new people to surround yourself with. I know from experience that it feels like there will never be people that will understand, but THERE IS . I used to be SO embarrassed about my anxiety, but after a LONG journey of personal growth and self-development I have come to find power and strength in it It is absolutely NOTHING to be ashamed of! . 03.01.2022 Progress isn’t always about weight loss!! . It can be ANYTHING: Going up in reps or weights Having more energy... Getting better sleep Increased motivation for life Being able to keep up with your children (or doggos) Seeing changes in body composition Growing muscle Increased confidence and self-esteem Making new friends . When I meet new clients, the majority of the time they come to me because they want to lose ‘x’ amount of weight. This is a great starting point, but we need to look a bit deeper into that - WHY do you want to lose 5kg? HOW is that going to change your life? What will be the benefits of making this change? Aesthetic goals can only give you so much motivation, but it’s your WHY that will keep that motivation in the long term . In the left photo I was still in my ‘weight loss’ frame of mind after losing 15KG, this meant I was doing a combination of HIIT and group classes 5 x per week. 01.01.2022 Good morning and happy Friyay! . We have quite a few new people who have joined us on here over the past week so thought I’d do a little ‘get to know me’ post . I started my job as a full time Personal Trainer this year and I run my lil PT business out of Anytime Fitness... . I am absolutely LOVING my job - I love motivating and inspiring people, seeing my clients feel proud and accomplished and helping them form a loving and healthy relationship with themselves! . I got ENGAGED in January this year in Santa Monica, California We have been together 7.5 years and met in high school . I have a 4 year old fur baby named Lola and she is a crazy lil Jack Russell . I am a massive mental health advocate as I have been through my own mental health journey battling anxiety, depression and PTSD. I always try to be as transparent and honest about mental health on here as it’s SO important to talk about! . I’m always down for a coffee date . I love sunflowers . But most of all, I’m here to motivate and inspire you to become the best version of yourself I believe that healthy looks different on everyone and I want to help you find the healthy that works for YOU I want to help you get the most out of life while also acknowledging that life isn’t always smooth sailing. 01.01.2022 Today is World Mental Health Day . In light of this, I am sharing some ways that fitness has helped MY mental health . I also just want to put a TRIGGER WARNING here in regards to sexual assault.... . Confidence! My confidence has increased so much over the last 3 years I’ve been going to the gym and working on myself! . It has taught me that I am good enough the way I am, I don’t need to hide any aspects of my personality. Since becoming a PT, this is the most ‘me’ I have ever felt in my ENTIRE life! It has helped me to embrace being me and to come out of my shell a lot! . It has helped with my PTSD - I have a history of sexual assault as a child which caused me to feel unsafe going places alone in fear that I would get attacked, I literally wouldn’t go ANYWHERE by myself. Since going to the gym I feel strong and confident and am now able to go places on my own and I have also learned to enjoy my own company! . It helps me with stress and anxiety and has provided me with a healthy output for any negative emotions or feelings I have! . I no longer feel like I have to be what other people want me to be. It has given me a new lease on life where I feel in control, I feel capable and I feel like I truly can do anything I put my mind to! . I have absolutely fallen in love with fitness and with my job.
