24.01.2022 Some quick strategies to avoid the cursed sitting position and too much screen time. How many of these have you tried?
23.01.2022 There are all sorts of debates about High Carb vs High Fat for performance. Let's look at the literature and settle the debate once and for all.... Coach Quinn http://www.thefitnesshq.com.au/is-high-carb-or-high-fat-be/
23.01.2022 "Weight loss", "Toning", "Tightening up" these are often goals our people have when first coming to us for help. But what is often not well understood is that all of these are a reflection of increased lean muscle. And no, we don't mean you need to look like Arnold. As you'll see in this blog from coach Chloe, muscles are the furnace that keeps the fat burning even when you're at rest! http://www.thefitnesshq.com.au/build-your-fire/
23.01.2022 If you're partner has a change they want to make... What are you doing to support them? Are you building them up? Challenging them when they need to be challenged? Supporting them when they need you to listen?... Or is there resistance on your end too? Change is hard, and that's ok. But it's made that much easier when your partner, best friend, parents, children/parents and family are on board and backing you. Have an honest conversation with yourself and ask your partner, family member or friend how you can help more. We discuss this and more in our nutrition consults to help you build your "Network for success" shoot us a message [email protected] for a free initial consult or click the link below: http://www.thefitnesshq.com.au/contact/ H
22.01.2022 LOVING YOUR LIVER - Nutrients to support the liver detoxification pathways!
21.01.2022 Do you ever struggle with portion sizes? Or Over-Eating? We've probably all got stories of childhood "lessons" teaching us to finish what's on our plate. With well-meaning parents it might've looked like this: - Think of the starving kids in africa - Be grateful you have any food... - Racing your brother or sister for the second serving - Eat all your dinner or you won't get to dessert ...and the list goes on. As adults, especially adults who might want to lose weight or struggle with binge eating this creates the foundation for our current behaviours. So here's a way to develop your Foundational Nutritional skills next meal time. Step 1: Start small, take your usual serving and cut it in half with every intention of going back for more... if you need it Step 2: Take a few mins to settle and to ask yourself, am I 80% full yet. If not go back and add another small portion to the plate. Step 3: Continue process and once you get to 80% full package away the extra for a ready done meal prep for lunch or breakfast the next day, great success! 20.01.2022 New Year, new um.....you #habbits
18.01.2022 So you've achieved your body composition goals, you've learnt the habbits to maintain them and you're confident in your abilities. What's next? Body composition you'll more than likely find is only one aspect of health (definitely not the whole picture). We teach a concept of "Deep Health" by Precision Nutrition which looks at everything from your nutrition, to activity to sleep to lifestyle. We want a life that has you feeling unstoppable, able to cope with the challenges of... life and building routines that feed the best possible lifestyle and what we're all chasing....happiness. Don't stop climbing the mountain but maybe consider that the peak is only one moment in time, that climb is what we're really living for! 18.01.2022 Nutrition Habit *Eating Slowly* Just like you train movements in the gym, you can train and ingrain nutrition habbits! One of the most important ones is eating slowly and mindfully. Here's one you can try daily to program it in as an automatic behaviour.... Take a bowl of whatever you like maltesers, raisins, cherry tomatoes, raspberries. Each day approach it like this: - Free yourself from any distractions (no phone, tv or people) - Observe the food by looking at it, observe any nuances and differences between them - Smell it (YES BE WEIRD) does it have any specific aroma's - Place it in your mouth and observe the texture, any flavours observed before you've had a bite? - Chew it 15 times, swallow and observe how it made you feel This is the starting point to proper digestion and therefore more absorption of nutrients, hunger/fullness awareness, mindfully eating, tasting, experiencing food and engaging in eating as an important task in day to day life (rather than an inconvenience/mindless experience that has to be rushed through). The simple eating of the single raspberry isn't the focus but the habbit building is and can be applied to your meals to ingrain it as part of your everyday relationship with food. Give it a go and PRACTICE nutrition #procoach #fitnesshqhealth
17.01.2022 Insert* Exercise that rewards you just as much for what your body CAN DO as much as it does for how it looks. It's ok to have body composition goals but sometimes they can be so subjective and comparative that's hard to ever feel like you're happy. When you start to see progress in movement quality, ability and fitness measurements (time, reps, etc) over just simply a number on a scale, you tend to maintain routines better and start to take better care of yourself. 17.01.2022 Struggle with Sleep? You wouldn't be alone, it's one of the biggest risks to your health and it's rarely addressed as a priority. Coach Chloe took the big step and fixed her sleep and shows you how you can do the same http://www.thefitnesshq.com.au/how-i-fixed-my-broken-sleep/
15.01.2022 For the ladies! Highly recommend you have a read if you're currently on contraception that involves synthetic hormones.
14.01.2022 PRACTITIONER SPOTLIGHT Kim Bunney - Nutrition Counsellor Can you describe Nutrition Counselling in one sentence? ... As a Nutrition Counsellor I provide a safe space for us to work together to understand your relationships with food, body and life in general, so that you can live a life that is empowered and geared towards your higher goals rather than dictated by weight, diet and stress. When should someone come and see you? When youve had enough! Youre tired, physically and mentally of feeling helpless, unhappy in your body, and obsessing over food. Youre done with the vicious cycle of dieting/restricting and rebounding, and want to learn tools to master your habits with food, emotions and stress, and have a greater understanding of why these things happen for you personally, either physiologically or psychologically. What's your favourite thing about what you do? Celebrating the small wins! I work with people that struggle with both chronic dieting and overtraining, so to see someone take a rest day and eat the birthday cake, to me is a real hoot. And on the opposite side of disordered eating, I work with binge eaters too, so to have a client set boundaries with a toxic friend or simply eat breakfast for the first time in years brings a tear to my eye. Im like a proud mum! You can book an appointment with Kim through her facebook page (www.facebook.com/mindsetnutritionau) or send an email to [email protected]

10.01.2022 We all get fired up about change. That enthusiasm in the moment is powerful but unfortunately burns out pretty quickly.... It leads us to choose 'extreme overhaul' a cold turkey, no excuses, youtube motivation style that eventually leads to dissapointment and reverting to the same old behaviours.... So instead, for this years changes, hopes and dreams whether they be nutrition, fitness or lifestyle Start Small. ... Start Achievable. Start with Achievement. Success is addictive and leads to even more action, choose your first action wisely.....and kick 2020's butt See more
10.01.2022 YES. That was me roaming around barefoot in my front garden. Yes, the neighbours think I am a little crazy (they also see me doing little 'at home' wods in my driveway...). Turns out EARTHING has far more benefits than I had first anticipated. Try incorporating 10 minutes a day for one week and see if you can feel the difference!
08.01.2022 Because 1% Dehydration is enough to effect your aerobic capacity....which means you get less from your workout and....less results from your effort. Here's a couple of quick strategies: 1. Get an awesome water bottle, no basic ones please. Bonus points for those reflective marvels of science that can stay cool even in the hot sun. 2. Sprinkle a little bit of salt in it (especially while we're sweating buckets at the moment just doing life). Himalayan if you're wanting that health concious insta post of course. 3. Aim to drink a minimum of 2L daily, more if your exercising or have a physical job. How many of your drink bottles is that? Work backwards from there.
