25.01.2022 If you have a sore lower back (like 90% of adults at some stage) - start training your arse! Weak glutei are the single most reason for all lower back soreness. There are so many benefits, apart form eliminating back soreness, that happen to your body when your glutei are strong. When at the gym, or working out from home, or simply just living your life, do not neglect bum training. Truly 2020 was the year of FML! 20.01.2022 Well, I finally have some time to sit and write this very important post (not being able to sleep helps!). I have been wanting to write my long list of thank yous and gratitude to all the people I have worked with and met in WA over the last 18months - so here it is: The first, and most important, is to Tim Ye at Anytime Fitness Rockingham. Tim took a chance on an inexperienced (read very new) brain injured PT! Tim allowed me to get back into the work force and prove to mysel...f that I can actually do this new job and career. I loved every minute of my time at AF Rockingham and through that job ended up meeting the best people on the West Coast (or any bloody coast) who have not only allowed me to share my love of health and fitness with them, but also to travel with them on their our personal health journey. To my lovely morning ladies (the regulars at least): Judy, Barb, Kay, Jannette, Katie, Erin, Robyn, Joan and the young ones (not that you all arent) Jayda and Loren. You made my mornings fun and enjoyable over the last 18 months - I loved training you all and sincerely wish you all the very best in health and happiness - and at least now you can do a workout without the Hilltop Hoods blasting in the background. Other notable clients (now friends) who definitely need a mention because they impacted my life as much as I hopefully did theirs: Matt Yeates - You are a bloody legend mate! All the best for this season and moving forward in your footy career. Rebecca Fall - Absolutely the same as Matt. You are a champion. Training you two guys was always the highlight of my week. To the people I met towards the end of my stay: Tish, Gary, Lee, Lyn - you guys are rock starts and I hope you keep up the rage! To my first ever client (although she didnt know it at the time!) who went on to be a close friend and my social media manager - Bec Cahill. Keep fighting the good fight mate and I hope you learned as much about personal inner strength from me as I did you. To my baseball and softball boys. Thank you for a great season and the opportunity to get my coaching pants on. Its a pity I didnt get to play more games with you all as I found you all to be just the best bloody bunch of fellas to ever walk on a Diamond (yes even the Kiwis!!!!!!). 20.01.2022 I get asked this question all the time, and the answer is, well, complicated to say the least. All the science seems to point in the direction of fasted cardio for weight loss will work (dependant on body composition and your metabolism of course) and you should never do fasted strength sessions. Read below for all the info. It is the best article I have read so far on the topic.

17.01.2022 I've said it before, in fact I've said it a million times - if you want to lose weight lift weights!!! A good read for anyone out there who still thinks that the best way to lose weight is by doing countless hours of cardio. By lifting weights and getting your muscles into hypertrophy they will burn more fat for you long after the workout has finished (the afterburner effect!).

17.01.2022 Does not matter what age you are, if you want to change your body, health or happiness - you can. This guy is just one example of a million out there who decided he had had enough of being over weight and unhealthy. The change is fantastic! Also I would like to point out that he had a good PT that pushed him along the way and made sure he made the transformation safely. If you want to change your life for the better, whether that be by loosing a few kilos, becoming more nutrition conscience, being more mentally strong and healthy, you do not have to do it alone. If you find the right guide, either a PT, Life Coach, Insta Influencer etc, just find them and get started. There is so much evidence out there and so many transformations to show you that it is possible, the rest is up to you.

I would like to add it is so good to see an online presence wrt health and fitness that does not use models or athletes to show their exercises. 14.01.2022 If you have a set of dumbbells at home and don't know where to start for a quick full body workout, to clear the mind and restore the body, follow this program a few times a week. To start with, if you are new to the game, do Monday and Thursday, if an experienced lifter or someone who is pretty fit do Monday, Wednesday and Friday and ensure you do some cardio on Tuesday and Thursday. Good luck!

14.01.2022 This is some very good advice considering the situation we are all in now. I found myself getting so angry at the state of our country and the total hypocrisy of our government during this pandemic that I was in a very poor state mentally. I was quick to anger and having very negative thoughts all the time and just worrying about so much that I couldn't control, then I stumbled on this article and employed some of the suggestions and it has really helped. I encourage all of you who are also suffering with degrading mental health (there is nothing wrong with admitting it!) to try some of the tips herein or to just take a moment and do whatever works for you to regain control over your brain and emotions. Stay safe and healthy people both mentally and physically. Strong Body = Strong Mind and vice versa.

11.01.2022 I love this article - abut time the simple jump rope got some love!!. I always use the rope for warm-ups, I think there is no better way before a work out (either weights or cardio) to get the body ready for what's ahead. Even if you are not doing other work a simple jump rope routine is enough in and unto itself. Remember - a 10min jump rope session is the cardio equivalent of a 30min run!!! So no excuse guys and girls - get jumping:)

11.01.2022 Interesting read. I never considered the consequence of over contracting the glutes but this makes sense. So make sure you contract the glutes only in specific exercises that are working the posterior chain.

On a positive note for me I got my car back from the sign writers this week (its more important then ever to try and find one thing per day to be happy about). If you are struggling to get to a gym or just don't know what to do at home, I am a fully mobile trainer, I can bring the gym to you (including hand sanitiser and disinfectant wipes) and we can workout in the safe confines of your own home. 08.01.2022 I agree wholeheartedly - if in doubt DEADLIFT!!!! If you are a novice make sure you click on the link about how to set up and do the lift correctly, if an old hand and have moved away for doing DL's, get back in and make sure they are a staple of your workout program. This is the one exercise that will always form the cornerstone of any exercise program I set myself or write for clients, it truly is the best full body resistance training move you can do.

After getting hacked and removed as the administrator for this page I have finally been able to win the fight against Facebook, after months of pleading and stating my case, that I actually own this page! Well I'm back in control now - finally - so I can go back to posting relevant health and fitness articles for you all. Hope you have all stayed safe in body and mind over the ...last few months as this year continues to push as all to the mental and physical breaking point. Always remember you are stronger then you think, both mentally and physically, so do not let 2020 get the best of you - fight back in anyway you can. Weather that be adopting a new physical training routine (at home!) or simply allowing some time for yourself away from the daily grind of surviving 2020. That time could be as simple as going for a 20min walk around your neighbourhood. Take in the smell, sights and sounds. Relax your mind and be in the moment, try and forget all the crazy shit going on, for at least 20min. Stay strong people and above all else - don't let 2020 win! See more

The changes he experienced mind and body were phenomenal but as he puts it the biggest one was the endorphins. "Not training now has almost been more tricky than actually training for it, because you release so many endorphins while working out every day that when you stop what you get is an endorphin deficit and that makes you feel a little bit down.

And don't just do it today, make it a conscience effort to ask all the time. We all have our struggles in life and it is hard to open up at times, but if someone asks and pushes you for an honest answer it feels good. Provide that feeling to someone in your life today and pay it forward on other days. As I have always said and one thing I am trying to promote as much as possible is that Mental Health is just as important as physical health, and that can be helped by simply having a chat to someone in your life about what is bothering/worrying/stressing you atm. 01.01.2022 Hi guys and girls. Happy new year to one and all. Sorry I have not posted much over the last few weeks but there is a reason - I find it hard to provide motivational fitness related videos and articles or any nutrition information while our country burns. I am safe in Nowra NSW (I hope - tomorrow could be a different story) but my heart goes out to all those a little further south (less then 10km) who are doing it far worse then us and all other people across Vic and the grea...ter South Coast of NSW. My preys are with you all. On that note, once all this shit has died down and the fires are out and we can resume our normal lives, I would like to offer free Personal Training sessions to any RFS members or their families, but again I stress, only once this is over. I cant imagine for one second that you give a flying shit ATM. I can not, and will not, ever forget your service over this fire season (even if our idiot PM, and all politicians for that matter, will). Also, I will donate ALL of my PT earnings over the next Month to the RFS and bushfire relief funds - if my gym is still standing after tomorrow!!!! So in conclusion, firies and our emergency services are all bloody hero's who should have a day in their honour (even though they would hate that) and our current crop of politicians can all go fuck themselves, or maybe just go on another holiday and stay there - we are all better off without you, oh and take your million dollar fireworks with you you bunch of sociopathic fucktards. Sorry, got a little emotional there, but cant help the way I feel about leadership in this poor country ATM. See more
