Today we introduce you to Potassium Potassium is a vital mineral that helps transfer energy and electricity throughout the body while helping to convert glucose to glycogen.... It also helps with: -Electrolyte Balance -Managing Blood Pressure -Helps muscles to contract -Releases energy from protein, fats and carbs during metabolic process -Aids in waste removal -Promotes efficient cognitive function Lack of Potassium can lead to insomnia, muscle cramps, poor reflexes, irregular heartbeat and kidney problems. The recommend daily intake of Potassium for an adult is 4.7g and can be gained by eating foods such as: -Avocado -Sweet Potato -Bananas -Cooked Spinach -Bamboo Shoots -Oranges -Apricots -Whole Grains Or why not try the following recipe Southwest Chicken Skillet Ingredients 1 1 ounce envelope fajita seasoning mix 1/2 cup water 2 tablespoons cooking oil 12 ounces skinless, boneless chicken breast halves, cut into 1-inch pieces Nonstick spray coating 1 medium yellow or green sweet pepper, cut into squares 1 small zucchini, bias-sliced 1/2 small onion, cut into thin wedges 2/3 cup salsa 1 teaspoon chili powder 1/2 cup frozen whole kernel corn 1/2 cup cooked or canned black beans, rinsed and drained 8 8 inches flour tortillas (optional) 1/2 cup shredded reduced-fat Colby cheese (optional) Directions For marinade, in a medium mixing bowl combine fajita mix, water, and oil. Add chicken to marinade. Stir to coat. Let stand at room temperature for 15 minutes. Spray a large skillet with nonstick coating. Preheat over medium heat. Add sweet pepper, zucchini, and onion; cook and stir for 2 to 3 minutes or until crisp-tender. Remove from skillet. Drain chicken; discard marinade. Add chicken to skillet. (If necessary, add 1 tablespoon cooking oil during cooking.) Cook and stir for 4 to 5 minutes or until no pink remains. Return vegetables to skillet. Stir together salsa and chili powder. Add salsa mixture, corn, and beans to skillet. Cook and stir for 1 to 2 minutes more or until heated through. Serve with warm tortillas and cheese, if desired. (To heat tortillas, wrap in microwave-safe paper towels; micro-cook on high power for 30 seconds). Makes 4 servings and contains 738mg of Potassium

18.01.2022 Timeout Tuesday! We are constantly pushing ourselves physically and emotionally in our lives and no matter how hard we push our bodies are going to need time to recover. Some of the best recovery techniques include taking a day ... off; doing a lighter, less intense workout, also known as active recovery; and getting regular consistent sleep during which your body repairs muscle. But the key to good recovery is remembering these are not periods in which we can relax our habits and fill our bodies with crap food it's vital to keep eating nutritious food that includes lean proteins, some fruit, whole grains and plenty of vegetables. By taking time to recover we can continue to push our limits just that little bit further as we strive to be the best we can be!
