19.01.2022 Always Was, Always Will Be. Through respectful explicit teaching and play based learning our Kindy's have been exploring the meaning of NAIDOC week and talking about their Country, Language groups and Identity. To celebrate NAIDOC week. This year our Kindilink, Kindy and Pre-Primary students collaborated in partnership with Baya Gawiy Buga Yani Jandu Yani U.... Activities were meaningfully focused on children aged 6 months to 5 years. Some experiences included collaborative perspex mural painting, felt stories about local animals and plants, stenciling, posca pen bag designing and clay creations. We shared a feed of Kangaroo and Ox tail stews, Tuna mornay, fresh salads and damper cooked on the fire. And listened to the talented Bullen Rogers sing and play his guitar. Special thanks to Dee Carter and the AIEO staff here at FVDHS for building connections between our school and the Baya Gawiy Early Learning Centre.

19.01.2022 Football West - Visits FVDHS The great people from Football West came to visit our school to run a clinic this morning. Our primary fitness session was extended and the the soccer skills started to shine. There were 2 games of soccer played by the junior and upper primary with plenty of goals getting scored. This was a great start to the day and some excellent prizes were given out this morning! Thank you to the gentlemen from Football West and the primary teachers for being flexible this morning. The soccer ball design was pretty cool too!

12.01.2022 Quick snapshot of Day 3 - Rm 301 yr 5-6 Broome Camp. Boys and Girls went their separate ways this morning. The boys joined with Clontarf at St Mary's school for a friendly game of basketball. Congratulations to the FVDHS boys - they won the game! The girls, and Ms JB, went shopping! Somehow we ended up in a pearl shop! The girls were treated to being able to hold a $25000 necklace, and then one worth a whopping $119000! We also learnt how the oysters are seeded and how the different colours form. The afternoon the students had a leisurely camel ride on Cable Beach. All students are terrific and really upholding our PBS 3R's. We are all very proud of them. Ms JB, Mr Grant, Travis and Ms Kym.

08.01.2022 Day 2 - Rm 301 Broome Camp . Started the day at Town Beach playground followed by a hot and humid walk around Chinatown to learn all about the Asian influences in Broome as part of our PBL unit this term. We came back to our accomodation for a well-deserved swim before going to the Malcolm Douglas Wildeness Park this afternoon. Some quiet time, another quick swim before a BBQ and salad for dinner. All 17 students in bed and asleep way before 9pm....the girls were asleep before 8! Such a great group of students, we could not ask for more from them! Ms JB, Mr Grant, Ms Kym and Travis (Thanks to Clontarf!)
