25.01.2022 Junior Footy Update! It was a massive day of football for our juniors yesterday but sadly the season has come to an end for our Under 13 Boys and Under 16 Girls. Payneham-Norwood Union were simply too good for the Under 13 Boys in their Grand Final at Hisense Arena, but the Lions fought until the very end and are much better for the experience. Coaches Ben Hart and Shane Grant have signalled big things from their playing group in 2021 watch this space! Down the road a...t Edwardstown Oval, the Under 16 Girls were knocked out by Lockleys-Flinders Park. Whilst it wasnt the result the girls wanted, they are very happy with their season and are looking forward to another tilt next season. In better news, we can confirm that our Under 16 Boys have snared a place in a Grand Final, after notching a win against Ingle Farm in their semi-final yesterday. James Ellis kicked six goals and Fitzroy cult hero Magnus Lyons chimed in with three, as the Roys cruised past the Bulldogs by 24 points. The boys will now meet Morphettville Park in the Grand Final, from 9am on Sunday morning at Thebarton Oval. The club calls upon all our players, parents and volunteers to don your Fitzroy merchandise and head to Thebarton before you do anything else on Sunday morning its going to be a massive day! Under 16 Player Jack Slaven has been kind enough to create an event for the Grand Final on Facebook, so wed encourage you to indicate that youre heading out to watch so that we can build some buzz around the game. Well see you there! #oneclub

24.01.2022 Junior Footy kicked off today... but not before our little Lions remembered our Anzacs. Thanks to Braden Stanley for the photographs of our Under 11 and Under 12 sides taking a moment to reflect before play earlier today. #oneclub

24.01.2022 Beautiful evening at Fitzroy... and plenty happening! Our Senior Men's Footballers are showing up to training in good numbers, our cricketers have scored themselves a brand new contraption to make life easier on Saturdays and the club hosted a fantastic community event, a book launch by ATF Press. Make sure you head out to the club during next week before we all head off to enjoy our Christmas break!... #oneclub

24.01.2022 Fitzroys cricket committee had a visit from the South Australian Cricket Association during the week and were presented with some silverware! Our club was recently bestowed SACAs Junior Cricket Initiative of the Year Award, as well as recognition on a national level, taking out Cricket Australias Community Cricket Award, both awards for our clubs fine work alongside Multicultural Communities of Australia in creating the Junior Cricket World Cup in 2019. The awards are tes...tament to the dedication of our volunteers, as well as the bright future for cricket at Fitzroy. Stay tuned for more details around this summers edition of the Junior Cricket World Cup as soon as they come to hand!

24.01.2022 Fitzroy Community Club would like to congratulate Kym Rasheed, who will step over the white line tomorrow for the 450th time in senior football. Whilst Kym played a large majority of his 450 matches with the Rosewater Football Club, we have been proud and privileged to make room for Kym at Fitzroy for the last four years. Rasha has become one of Fitzroys most reliable and respected club people, and he always displays many admirable qualities: Kym trains hard, both at the ...club and away from the club. Hes a running machine, regularly attending running events and even taking part in a recent edition of the New York marathon. Kym is selfless on the field, listens to his coaches, always encourages his team-mates and is happy to help out off-the-field when he can. Kym is proud of his family, his heritage and his history in football and always conducts himself with dignity and professionalism on the field. Kym will always trot to the next contest, occasionally kicks a freakish goal, and fights hard to the final siren each and every week. People like Rasha make amateur footy an enjoyable experience for everyone involved and we wish him all the best for a terrific performance in game number 450. 450

24.01.2022 The Fitzroy Community Club would like to thank Steven Lemmers for taking on the role of Senior Mens Football Head Coach during a difficult 2020 Season. Steven will not be continuing in this role going forward and the club is busily making preparations for filling the vacant head coaching position for 2021. For any further information, please contact FFC President Talal Kayal via phone directly on 0404 064 097....

23.01.2022 Earlier we promised some footage of our Under 10 junior footballers singing the song for the first time in season 2020 over the weekend, and here it is, courtesy of Kiri Ann Jupe! Were the Lions of Fitzroy!

23.01.2022 Cricket Update The seniors First Xl batted on the weekend and made 7/215 on the first day of their match against Belair at home, with Raheel Raghib (42) and Michael Pedersen (36) steadying the innings after a cluster of early wickets, before M.Roberts (52* of 51 balls) finished off the innings beautifully. The Second Xl bowled out Belair for 238. Wickets were shared amongst JS.Sidhu (2/27), SP.Singh (2/25) and M.Singh (2/28). It will be a tricky chase away from home for ...the Lions, but I know our boys are up to the challenge. At Robert Haigh Reserve, the Third Xl were able to bowl really well to keep Coromandel Ramblers to a modest 5/159 from their 60 overs. M.Joughin (2/32), L.Tylkowski (2/45) and Joshua Buckton (1/10) were the pick of the bowlers Josh sending down eleven maidens from his 15 overs! The club continues our hunt for senior cricket recruits too. If anyone is interested, either leave a comment on our Facebook page or head out to Thursday Night Trainings. In junior news, on Sunday, Fitzroy’s Under 10 side played Flinders Park at home. M.Sidhwani was the pick of the bowlers with 2/23, whilst I.Hafidh took her very first wicket for Fitzroy, which was a fantastic highlight for all of us. Also, our Junior Blasters program continued on Saturday Morning. We are three weeks into the program all the young boys and girls are having fun testing themselves (and their parents) in all the different activities! Finally, the Toyota Good for Cricket Raffle is continuing please grab a ticket before they’re all sold out. 18.01.2022 Cricket Update Here's some results from the weekend! On Saturday, the Seniors First Xl was sadly bowled out for 145 chasing North Haven's 392. D.Singh was a standout with a gutsy 47, batting the majority of the innings. ... The Seniors Second Xl, on the other hand, grabbed a stunning outright victory in their first two-day game of the year. M.Singh 71 & H.Singh 49* batted well to ensure the win and put on quick runs to gain a handy lead. The captain H.Singh stepped up with the ball to take 5/29, whilst JS.Sidhu added 3/27 to his first innings figures, finishing with a huge eight wickets for the match. On Sunday, Fitzroy’s Under 10 Juniors played Woodville Rechabites. We are becoming far more confident with running between the wickets and fielding. H.McArthur was a standout with two wickets and hitting his first boundary for Fitzroy. M.Sidhwani continued his good form with the bat making 16, including two boundaries. As has been the case in previous weeks, we are still searching for regular senior cricketers to fill our three sides each weekend. If anyone is interested, either leave a comment below, or head out to Thursday Night Trainings! Nick Raymond (Texta) Fitzroy Cricket Club President #oneclub

18.01.2022 Cricket Update This weekend, Fitzroy Cricket Club is proud to be supporting the Adelaide and Suburban Cricket Association (ASCA) Mental Health Awareness Round. Statistics show that six out of eight suicides in Australia are men. Furthermore, the daily rates of attempted suicides among men are tragically alarming. ASCA, along with the committee of the Fitzroy Cricket Club, believe that creating awareness and encouraging clubs and members to provide confidential, non-judgem...ental and safe lines of communication can have a positive effect on the mental health of all those in our community. Our senior men's teams will be participating in a short observance ceremony prior to matches this Saturday to acknowledge the valuable support that cricketers can offer each other whilst getting involved in local sport. It’s not a weakness to show emotion and it’s not a weakness to ask for help. #oneclub

07.01.2022 The Executive Committee of the Fitzroy Community Club would like to advise that the club Annual General Meeting has been postponed to early 2021. It’s no secret that the Covid-19 Pandemic severely impacted the schedule of all our affiliates and their office bearers. Seasons were delayed and shortened, calendars had to be redrawn a number of times at short notice, and government restrictions on the scope of public gatherings made cementing a date for the annual general meeting... very difficult.
