22.01.2022 Devastated to say goodbye to our Milly far too soon. Despite a trip to Sydney Uni vet hospital for surgery, we lost her to colic. Born on New Year’s Day 2000, Milena was our A.I. millennium baby by Richmead Medallion out of a mare by Halsa. She was so much fun for so many riders, both competitively and in the school. A bit of a tough start to the year here, as we lost Brockie in a paddock accident as well. After his dressage career with Neatie, and further career with Emma Mainprize, he settled into being a champion school master for keen young riders. Very sad to lose two fabulous horses.
22.01.2022 First night of Christmas Camp week 2! Cooking and clearing by candlelight as we have had no power since 6pm last night, at least we are warm and cheerful! :) I hear distant thunder (and so do the dogs) .......
20.01.2022 Have had some fabulous fun with our summer camps, now we'll have a little break before Saturday riding starts back on the 10th of February. See you then!
20.01.2022 Here is Sienna meeting Poppy, the new RDA warmup pony! It’s a little late but here are the remaining dates for Saturday riding this term: 17th August, 24th August, 31st August 14th September
17.01.2022 Sonnet is very happy to be facing east instead of west after a few weeks, and he can even choose which window to look out! He is very comfortable and weight bearing very well on his affected leg. Angus and Neatie are heading off on a short holiday so Jess, Drew and Andrew (amongst others) will be keeping everything running - thank you all!
16.01.2022 We are getting ready for Christmas camps again! We have one place left for next week due to a cancellation - give us a call or check the website for a booking form if you are keen. This photo is from around 1994 and we are getting ready to go carolling around Fitzroy Falls - there are a couple of faces to pick out!
16.01.2022 What a lovely morning! The sun is shining after a wonderful 100ml of steady, gentle rain during the last week - the grass is growing! The ponies are hiding and sleeping after a fabulous 2 weeks of camps (thank goodness for the indoor arena) and now to Saturdays: 3rd November 17th November 1st December 8th December
14.01.2022 Luckily these branches fell the way they did! No horses or fences were damaged, and the horses seemed fine! Bit of work for Andrew though!
13.01.2022 The year is flying by!! We have already had 3 Saturday riding days this year, and we are looking forward to the rest as follows: 3rd March... 17th March 31st March Can’t wait to see you all there!
12.01.2022 Last cake for summer camps ready for lunch. Better go in the fridge if the icing is to stay on top of the cake!
12.01.2022 So much fun in the sun for our last week of Summer Camp! Swimming, BBQ, Bareback and splashing in the dam. Thank you everyone for a great happy time - see you again soon!
10.01.2022 Hi Everyone! Very exciting news... thanks to the great efforts of all the firies and some good luck with the weather, we are now able to run a daily camp from Monday the 20th of January to Thursday the 23rd!! The ponies are all looking for something to do and would love to see you! ... We will run from 9am until 5pm each day. Bring your own lunch; have 2 lessons/rides each day, lots of horse care and jump in the pool to cool off. The 4 day camp will cost $480 or you can just do a day or two @$150/day. If you’re interested, go on our website, download a booking form and send it back to us. We’ll be back in touch to confirm. Hope to see you soon!! Team Fitzroy
09.01.2022 Team Fitzroy and friends had a great weekend at Gundagai Horse Trials!! Heaps of fun, lots of ribbons and great results for everyone. Big congratulations to the fantastic committee on a great event! It was a really fun the whole way through, especially that super exciting new cross country course!! Especially big congratulations to Neatie Malcolm, Ali Malcolm, Cobie Sheehan and Jane Robinson on their ribbons!!! Also to Claudia (Beth Fisk) who finished 11th with only time penalties to add to her dressage score! And I had a pretty good event too, finishing in the top ten even with rails thanks to Sonnet’s prowess cross country!
07.01.2022 Zinc is checking out the calendar to see when camps start again! Looks like 14th April, Pixie!

06.01.2022 Another school holidays has finished, a bittersweet one for Fitzroy. We had a couple of great camps, but had to say goodbye to our old friend Hilde. A very sad farewell, she will be greatly missed. We have begun the new riding term, and our Saturday dates are as follows: 28th July... 4th August 18th August 1st September 8th September 22nd September We are looking forward to seeing you all soon!
05.01.2022 Hello everyone!! Just an update on the conditions here at Fitzroy... We are sure you are aware of the surrounding bushfires and the escalation of the situation caused by the horrid weather conditions. The air quality has deteriorated significantly, to the point where masks are sometimes necessary outside, and the fire threat continues to worsen.... This is not going to change until we have days of heavy rainfall, which is not forecast before February. We have temporarily evacuated all of our horses to Moss Vale until the expected weather front of Saturday passes through. HUGE thank you to Barbara Napier and her lovely family for taking in all of our school ponies, including Sonnet and Bill, Ange White for taking in Sienna, and our new friend Graham in Kangaloon for taking in Hogan! So many refugees, so very grateful! In light of this it is not reasonable to try and go ahead with next camp and we sadly have decided - for the first time ever - that we need to cancel. We really hope this doesn’t cause too much inconvenience, and we have tried to give as much notice as possible. We are really disappointed, and think the girls might be too, but it is best for everyone, including our horses. We would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for their understanding, to thank our amazing Volunteer Bushfire and Emergency Crews and to wish you a Happy (wet) New Year!! Team Fitzroy
02.01.2022 Although we were very sad to cancel our second week of camp, we decided it was best for the girls and ponies. There is still quite a lot of smoke around and we now have a lot of bushfire prep to undo! We are definitely very happy to have 20 of our 21 ponies home and safe, with the last one due back this morning Huge thanks to our firies for working tirelessly to keep us safe and informed, we are so lucky! And also thank you so much to all those who offered (and took in) our horses, dogs and us over the last few weeks. We can’t thank you enough!!
