Whilst we only got to share a small piece of Kyrons journey that was shared publicly, we all felt so connected to him and his battle. We send our love and condolences to Kyrons family and friends. Thank you to Collingwood Football Club and the The Barrawarn Program for providing such a special experience for this amazing boy.... With all our love. Rest In Peace, Kyron

25.01.2022 Lionel Proctor’s love for the Fitzroy Stars began in the 80’s watching his dad, uncles and cousins play. It wasn’t long after that when he took the field to play his first game for the Fitzroy Stars in the Under 11’s in 1986. His football talent grew quickly and he soon made his AFL debut with the Richmond Tigers in 1998!... In 2008, Jacko became the Captain and the leader of our club when we revived our club in the Northern Football League after 15 years without a competition to play in. In 2020, Jacko is appointed as Senior Coach! Be on board with the Stars in 2021 as we inspire our community’s next generation!

24.01.2022 A message from our President and CEO To all our family at the Fitzroy Stars, First and foremost, I sincerely hope you and family are safe and well in this unprecedented time of Covid19.... We just wanted to give you an up-date of what is happening at the club and the NFNL. On Monday 11th May the Vic Government will re-visit the lockdown strategy and make recommendations of whether to ease or continue current restrictions. Tuesday 12th May, all Vic Football and Netball League CEOs will be meeting to discuss how the new recommendations will apply to the Vic football and netball competitions. Wednesday 13th May, the NFNL will make a statement in regards to our competition. This will include if we will or will not be playing in 2020 and how it looks in regards to schedule, salary cap, finals and a whole range of things that are extremely complex. Obviously there is so much speculation and uncertainty out there and we apologise that we havent got anything to ease your frustrations however next week is D day for us and we will know what 2020 looks like when the government and our League bodies get together. We sincerely know that this has been a really tough time with isolation affecting health, both physically and mentally and we just wanted to assure you all, that the club is always here for you and that if any assistance is required please contact the club and we will find the best possible support for you. 24.01.2022 It is our misfortune to share the resignation of Dean Rioli as our Senior Coach for the 2021 season. Dean has to commit more time to his new business which has been impacted by the Covid pandemic and he has made the decision that he wont be able to commit the appropriate time into coaching the Fitzroy Stars. The Board would like to thank Dean for his efforts in organising our pre-season as well as planning for the season proper, we appreciate how much effort was required a...nd we know that the boys enjoyed the time they had with Dean. The Club wishes Dean and his family all the best with their future endeavours and we look forward to seeing Dean around the club in the coming season. The Board of the Fitzroy Stars Football and Netball Club.

23.01.2022 Remembering, Jock. Jocks legacy lives strongly through our club and the community. We were proud last year to launch the redeveloped Jock Austin Pavilion. ... The redevelopment meant that the Fitzroy Stars men, women and juniors could return home to Jocks Pavilion on game day after many years of it being used by opposition teams. Jocks portrait is on the front of the Pavilion as he watches over us every time we run out and play in the colours and jumper that he so deeply loved. Please head over to the MAYSAR page and leave your messages in the comment sections under the video they have shared this morning.

First of all I want to thank the Fitzroy Stars board members for the opportunity to start my coaching career with our great club.... Having been involved in our club for a long time I feel I have a fair understanding of the area’s we need to improve on, as well as add, to give ourselves every chance to reach our potential (which ultimately is playing consistent finals football). 05.01.2022 Happy NAIDOC Week, you mob! Always Was, Always Will Be. recognises that First Nations people have occupied and cared for this continent for over 65,000 years. We are spiritually and culturally connected to this country.... This country was criss-crossed by generations of brilliant Nations. Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people were Australia’s first explorers, first navigators, first engineers, first farmers, first botanists, first scientists, first diplomats, first astronomers and first artists. Australia has the world’s oldest oral stories. The First Peoples engraved the world’s first maps, made the earliest paintings of ceremony and invented unique technologies. We built and engineered structures - structures on Earth - predating well-known sites such as the Egyptian Pyramids and Stonehenge. Our adaptation and intimate knowledge of Country enabled us to endure climate change, catastrophic droughts and rising sea levels. Always Was, Always Will Be. acknowledges that hundreds of Nations and our cultures covered this continent. All were managing the land - the biggest estate on earth - to sustainably provide for their future. Through ingenious land management systems like fire stick farming we transformed the harshest habitable continent into a land of bounty. NAIDOC Week 2020 acknowledges and celebrates that our nation’s story didn’t begin with documented European contact whether in 1770 or 1606 - with the arrival of the Dutch on the western coast of the Cape York Peninsula. The very first footprints on this continent were those belonging to First Nations peoples. Our coastal Nations watched and interacted with at least 36 contacts made by Europeans prior to 1770. Many of them resulting in the charting of the northern, western and southern coastlines of our lands and our waters. For us, this nation’s story began at the dawn of time. NAIDOC 2020 invites all Australians to embrace the true history of this country a history which dates back thousands of generations. It’s about seeing, hearing and learning the First Nations’ 65,000+ year history of this country - which is Australian history. We want all Australians to celebrate that we have the oldest continuing cultures on the planet and to recognise that our sovereignty was never ceded. Always Was, Always Will Be.

01.01.2022 Thank you to Metro for coming on board as a vital sponsor of our club in 2020. We look forward to a prosperous partnership together in to the future! Metro a lifeline for The Stars... At the beginning of 2020 Metro committed to supporting The Fitzroy Stars Football and Netball Club. ‘The Stars’ are based out of the Aborigines Advancement League in Watt Street Thornbury, just by Thornbury station. The club not only provides all the benefits that team sports can bring, they also work tirelessly to support Melbourne’s Aboriginal community, partnering for great employment, wellbeing and economic outcomes and providing a safe place for a yarn. Unfortunately, like many sporting clubs with cancelled fixtures, The Stars lost all their fundraising revenue this year, most of which they make through game days and events. Metro continued their support, demonstrating the commitment we have made to Melbourne’s Aboriginal community and building a great relationship with The Stars. No sooner had we signed our partnership agreement, we had to pivot our approach. We worked with The Stars to ensure the club remained ready for the day players could take the field again. This included supporting them to get their grounds ready and providing funding for coaching and uniforms. The support from Metro has been a lifesaver this year and really helped the club through a hugely difficult year. said Simon Minton-Connell, CEO. We’re now looking towards 2021 and all the great things we can achieve together for the Aboriginal community.
