25.01.2022 Pretty happy to see these seeds have come up in the last few days EDAMAME

23.01.2022 The first time the island went into lockdown (3rd April) Dean started planting us a vege garden. We are now enjoying the produce from the first lockdown. Homegrown

23.01.2022 I have some sad news today, my gorgeous Lucky girl has passed away overnight. She hasn’t been great the last few days and I had a feeling that her time had come. She was such a special girl, defying the odds from the very start when she arrived here as a day old chicken that couldn’t walk. I raised her with the other 150 chickens then separated her into a new chicken house we purchased with the silkie chickens, a home where she could still move about & nest at night. She had so much personality & loved to be cuddled - her disabilities didn’t stop her from much, she still managed to get around the yard with all the Silkies. RIP lucky.

23.01.2022 Letting our cows into a rested paddock area today, they are very lucky this year - it’s so lush from all the rain we have been receiving, they don’t know where to eat first.

22.01.2022 Have you met Pepsi ? He’s pretty famous & well known on the island, he’s owned by Sarah & Tony of Castaway Hotel & Norfolk Island Brewing. (Secretly ..... I’ve wanted to steal him for years - he’s just the sweetest boy). He actually doesn’t class himself as a dog and prefers to socialise with humans - so he really didn’t want to hang out with our 3 when he visited us on Sunday. ... If you haven’t tried one of Castaways cheese platters (this is the takeaway version), then your sooooo missing out - add it to your list of things to do on Norfolk Island when you next visit The platters also feature local produce, goats cheese, honey, local fish and seasonal fruits & flowers too! We can highly recommend them

20.01.2022 2 mums & 14 ducklings Our next mumma has hatched 6 overnight.

20.01.2022 A few photos taken in one of our farming paddocks this afternoon - Sweet Potatoes - Edamame - Watermelons & Mavis.

20.01.2022 One Mumma duck & her babies have come up from the dam to visit us this morning.

19.01.2022 My very special lucky girl this afternoon (she’s disabled) her legs are upside down - however she still manages to get around with the silky chooks. We’re going to need a bigger bowl for the ducklings soon - it’s a line up to swim in the chooks water bowl each day, they have taken a liking to going into the silky house.

16.01.2022 Another busy day on the farm, 150 more lavender seedlings bagged up today. So far, so good our temporary shade houses are working, we currently have 100% success rate from our first lot bagged up. We are off to visit some distilling lavender farms in the next couple of weeks in Australia and learn from experienced professionals. #norfolklavendarfarmprogress

15.01.2022 The rain we’ve had so far this month has accelerated the vege patch, I can barely see our house past the crop. The corn is looking so good, I can almost taste it

15.01.2022 Afternoon feed time. Turn the volume up - their chatter is adorable.

13.01.2022 Such great news - looking forward to being able to artificially inseminate our girls in the future & continuing on with our dream of highland cattle.

13.01.2022 It was a gorgeous sunny spring day here today & my silky / bantam girls made the most of it - getting their tan on. #chickenssunbaking #freetoroam

12.01.2022 My biggest fans - lined up outside my workshop this afternoon.

12.01.2022 A close up of the first of our tiny lavender seedlings that have just started coming up. We have planted 4 different varieties that have been specially imported & selected for distilling into lavender essential oil. Norfolk Island’s first lavender farm is on its way to becoming a reality.

09.01.2022 Where the chickens once roamed & fertilised - has now been planted. The new vege garden loving the rain today. Potatoes - Sweet Potatoes - Corn

09.01.2022 Very full belly’s here this afternoon - these ducklings can eat. Growing quickly.

08.01.2022 Recently we were given the opportunity to purchase the property that adjoins our farm (family land) once owned by the late Jack Fitzpatrick. We were lucky enough to be able to borrow the money to purchase it back. To our family it is very very special. Since owning the property - Dean hasn’t stopped clearing it & attempting to bring it back to its former glory. It’s finally starting to look pretty amazing. Today our seeds have arrived on the island and the next plan is to ...grow a French Lavender that I can harvest & distill here (using my copper distiller) on the island for my retail store Norfolk Bath & Body I currently import all my French Lavender Essential Oil for the products I make, and it’s always been my goal to eventually grow our own. This is the start of our next journey & we hope you enjoy watching our next phase of Fitzys Farm unfold

07.01.2022 A few photos of my beautiful silkie/ bantam cross girls and boys taken this afternoon.

04.01.2022 Lavender farm progress report Today was finally cool enough for us to start bagging up some of our lavender seedlings. In this batch we have 4 different varieties, specially imported for distilling lavender essential oil. ... Hoping to plant these out in the next few months into the front paddock - all going well.

04.01.2022 Time to mow the grass around the house again - so we brought in the experts - they also do complimentary tree trimming.

04.01.2022 24mm of very welcome rain overnight, with more on the way. So different compared to this time last year. Our tanks are already over flowing & vegie gardens thriving

04.01.2022 I’m sure our neighbours must wonder what all the noise is about these days with the cows bellowing. Dean started feeding them produce from the garden & sweet potato vines, was meant to be a special treat from time to time. Now they just stand at our house verandah & bellow until they get what they want each day & it works! The cows have now trained us #highlandcross

02.01.2022 2 mums & 14 ducklings Our next mumma has hatched 6 overnight.

01.01.2022 The beautiful property on Norfolk Island where our chickens, caravans and now ducks & ducklings have gone to live

01.01.2022 We have ducklings We weren’t sure if the 2 girls had been sitting on eggs or not, as we haven’t been able to find them anywhere down at our dam. The girls fly in here each afternoon & beg for food through my workshop window (it’s the sweetest thing) then they guzzle it down within 10 mins and fly off again. We’re going to need some more food!
