06.01.2022 WHY DID I CANCEL OUR AUGUST FIVE FOOT ROPE EVENTS? Ive had a few people contact me and make the comment that Im overreacting by cancelling the networking events we had planned for August. These were going to be our first physical events held since lockdown in March. And like many of you I was also very much looking forward to catching up. Not to mention my business, like many others, has been all but shutdown since March. So theres that..... But first and foremost I will n...ot put peoples health, including my own, at risk. Not until we know more about what the fallout will be in QLD due to recent events of the couple of intellectual giants returning from Victoria that have been tested positive for COVID-19. And they are the ones we know about. How many others have done the same thing but not been reported? The numbers mentioned in this article are why this virus is so frightening. Ive read the conspiracy theories and people posting that every year more die of the flu and all the rest of it. But this is the crux of the matter. This virus can spread at such a massive rate. We recently went from 0 cases reported in QLD to 12 within a matter of a week or so. Victoria had only 20 cases reported on 25th June. That was 5 weeks ago. According to this article, just over 2 weeks later they hit 200 reported cases. Thats a 1000% increase in 16 days. Im sure you can work it out from there. And this is exactly what has happened time and time again overseas. So when people compare this to the flu or the common cold, the difference is the rate at which this spreads. You can believe your conspiracy theories of the government, Bill Gates, Donald Trump, aliens, the Rothschilds, The royal family, Putin, Buddha, China, 5G, The Wombles Of Wimbledon Common and all the rest of the stories to your hearts content if thats what floats your boat. But please do not believe for one second that this virus isnt real and that the threat is nonexistent. I actually watched a live on Facebook yesterday of a person here in Australia who has a pretty decent following telling people this thing was all BS and we need to get out there and socialise as we are social creatures. We as a people are smarter than that.....surely? Please please stay safe. Be smart. Dont panic buy. Consider those around you. And for those huffing and puffing about having their rights taken away and how they have the right to do what they want and go where they want.....spare a thought for those who have had their lives or their loved ones taken away due to people doing what they want and going where they want. What about their right to not have their health or lives put at risk by selfish, inconsiderate, self centred, self righteousness jackarses? Ok Im done.
