25.01.2022 The initial shock has faded and we are now soldiering on. Everything will be ok. A quick trip to Bunnings this morning and lists have started to gather. Plenty to do around these parts! #sorryhubby #notreallysorry #getshitdone #itsgotime
25.01.2022 Everyone is posting their homeschooling photos. Kids are still at school in QLD. But homeschooling has started with the husband who is home full time. Today he learnt how to dust. How to vacuum (properly). And how to change the sheets. Home economics 101. #homeschoolingforhusbands... #homeschooling #homeschoolingthehusband #introductiontohomeeconomics See more
25.01.2022 Nearly 4 months ago we decided to do a great bedroom swap around. For a few reasons. Amongst the shifting, the eldest boy (17) and the middle boy (14) were to now share a room. We decided that they were old enough to have a man cave. Which meant bunk beds. As they are both 6ft1.5 and almost 6ft, single bunks were not going to cut it. So we ordered custom king single bunks. Which took forever as, after they were made, they sat in a Melbourne warehouse for 4 weeks due to C...ovid restrictions and them being non essential items for delivery. There was silent squealing this morning, when the semi trailers beeping could be heard as he reversed up our cul-de-sac! New mattresses, new sheets and the man cave is finished. Just need some wall reading lights near their beds. #teenageboysroom #boyscave
24.01.2022 Thank you for all your lovely thoughts and messages. Joshua is doing ok. Surgery done, thankfully no plate needed. He is sleeping off the anaesthetic and hopefully we can head home tomorrow. He has amazed the medical teams at how strong he is, taking everything like a champ.
23.01.2022 9am School Kids PE Class with Joe! Starts Monday! The 5 will be doing it! Who is joining them?
22.01.2022 It’s supposed to be Brett’s brothers wedding today. Instead, they are doing it alone with the designated 5 (them, celebrant and 2 witnesses). So Brett & I got dressed and are having a Moët and celebrating at home. #stayinghome
21.01.2022 #silverlining - Hubby was able to empty all the fridges at the restaurant when closing up on Monday. Our fridge and freezer is stocked. Free dinner FTW! #sataychickencurry #smellsdelicious
19.01.2022 Love having my iwatch. I pay for everything with it, I wash it when I wash my hands. No more phone. #BAM #washyourphone #lovemyiwatch #saynotophone
19.01.2022 If 2020 has taught me anything, it’s that we needed to change some things up. Take care of ourselves more. Take care of each other more. Quality over quantity right!? I’m picking up the piano again quicker than I thought I would. And it makes me very happy. Brett and I have been doing more things just the two of us. We’ve spent almost 18 years putting tiny humans first. 18 years of trying to fill their memory banks with magic, and whilst that still in our goal in life, ...2020 has reminded us that we need to be filling our memory banks too. With adult stuff. Away from the kids. Not always for the kids. We went to the store the other day and instead of looking at PS4 games the kids would like, we purchased a couple that WE wanted to play. One was Crash Bandicoot racing (the PS version of Mario cart) and Little Big Planet. The racing one has been fun to play together. And I’m slowly getting better - so Brett better watch out as I’m going to beat him soon! And Little Big Planet is more of a team strategy kind of a game. Which has been really fun to work together to play! We are also looking at attending a local trivia night together - no kids. Maybe a bingo night or a local open mic night (to watch, not to perform!) My girlfriend and I also made a pact that once a month we would have a date day. The first day we spent shopping for lingerie- which was so nice to feel sexy and have fun trying on some really outrageous items. The second day we got our eyelashes done. We both had never had them done before and thought why not!? Let me tell you - I don’t know how you ladies have them on a permanent basis. It’s been 2 days and I am still finding them uncomfortable and high maintenance. Turns out - I rub my eyes A LOT! Ha. I don’t think I’ll keep them, but they look nice and I’m not afraid to get them done again for a special occasion. What has 2020 taught you? Also: I’m such a #qlder - 18 degrees today and I’m dressed like an eskimo! Granted the wind chill makes it feel like 11, but I wouldn’t cope in a southern state! 13.01.2022 Just a little break!
12.01.2022 For those following along at home - Joshua is fine! We spent the evening in an almost empty ER - they tried manipulating it twice - 2nd time by the Ortho Surgeon. It's a very bad break, so they sent us home (the option we took) and are heading back now for surgery. Hoping one last manipulation should work, but chance of k-wires or plate. Thank you to everyone for your messages and PM. He is feeling the love. Xoxo
12.01.2022 Brilliant. Hope it really ends like this...
10.01.2022 This made me laugh. Hands up to all the #latchkey kids who feel like their childhood had prepared us for this. I spent hours in the basement or my bedroom: hours with books and board games, movies and music. It was before good parenting was measured by how crammed the extracurricular calender is. #GenX went outside, too; they just weren’t scheduled to. I remember sitting for hours just waiting for my favorite song to play on the radio so I could hit record on my cassette player. I can do nothing for days and be ok.
10.01.2022 Worked my last wedding (and event) for a while. Last night was awesome. We partied hard, we had some good laughs. And we were in a dead zone from 2pm until midnight (so knew nothing about the world crashing around us). Thank you to everyone who has reached out to check on us. Our business is now closed (for now), Hubby has a meeting today to discuss the future of his day job (for those that don’t know he is a Chef at a Golf Club by day). We didn’t sleep last night going ...through all the scenarios. This evening we sit down to discuss and action our bare bones budget. Cancelling all subscriptions, calling phone companies to reduce to cancel (temporarily) mobile phones etc. And sadly, cancel/postpone our much anticipated big family ski trip. It’s not forever, it’s all temporary, and we will get through it. Sending Love, Light and Love to everyone!
10.01.2022 We just pledged for our driveway dawn service. Head to www.rslqld.org/anzacspirit to pledge! #ANZACspirit #lightupthedawn #anzacday #isoanzacday @rslqueensland
08.01.2022 On August 31 a man called Ronnie McNutt live-streamed his suicide on Facebook Live. It has now worked its way into TikTok, 4chan, Instagram and other social media feeds that 'our' children are using. The video is horrific and is being hidden behind other content..... Advise from our school is: **Please DO NOT ask your children if they have seen it; as they may go looking for it. If your children come to you saying that they have viewed it, we have the following advice: * Stay calm, remember your reactions will influence their reactions. * Contact the social media platform(s) to report the video (they are all trying hard to contain it as we speak) * Applaud them for having the courage to start this conversation with you and let them talk about what they have seen. It's not a good idea to watch the video yourself or ask your child to show you the video, no matter how curious you are. It is horrific; you can't unsee it. Add to this, a popular Tiktok Teen died by suicide yesterday. His name is Ethanissupreme, we already know that people are very upset about this. Some other questions you can ask them are: * Sometimes people feel very down, sad, or hopeless. What can we do to let people know that they aren’t alone and that we care? * Who can you talk to if you feel sad or hopeless? * What can you do if you see something online that makes you feel uncomfortable? If you would like to reach out, you can contact: Beyond Blue:1300 22 4636 Suicide Callback Service: 1300 659 467 Lifeline: 13 11 14 Kids Helpline: 1800 55 1800 or kidshelp.com.au Stay safe and well friends. Loves to all of your kids.
07.01.2022 How is your homeschooling going? #isthatRob
04.01.2022 One thing that I struggle with on a daily basis, is my children growing up. I mean, they are turning into wonderful, smart, independent young adults whom I am proud of. But it’s really heavy on my heart. The thought of them leaving the nest sends me to tears, so I don’t think about it. Instead telling myself they can stay with us until they are 30! Which is only 12years away for our eldest. WTA??? We have been raising children for almost 18 years now. We had babies for a l...ot of that time. I regularly ask the big ones if they are happy. Like truly happy. And if they are happy with how their childhood was. I mean, our chance to raise them is all but done. We can’t change anything from their childhood. All the memories are set. And I pray that they are happy with the childhood we gave them. God I hope so. My biggest advise I can give to new parents and parents of young children is simple. Really take it all in. I know it’s corny, but savour every moment. It really goes in the blink of an eye. #nowimcrying #wheredidmybabiesgo #itseriouslywentreallyfast
03.01.2022 Kids used the last of their birthday money to purchase #beatsaber for our PS4 VR. And it’s awesome. All 5 (including the one with only 1 arm) have been playing constantly for past 24hours. Really builds up a sweat!
02.01.2022 The gravity of the current situation has officially hit us. HARD. We have cancelled all gigs for the next 2 months, at least. Today, Brett went to work with uncertainty, praying they would keep some of the staff on for takeaway food. Not really possible at a Golf Club.... They served until Midday, and then emptied all the fridges, packed up the whole club and emptied their lockers. They have officially been let go, however they say he has their word a job will be waiting when this is all over. Everything we have worked so hard for over the past 5 years gone overnight. So many tears shed today. The grief is flowing. The reality is setting in. We will be fine. I know we will. We have our health, and we are doing it for the health of the country. It’s just a really painful process. He hangs up his Chef uniform tonight, not knowing when he will wear it again. He is heartbroken. He is confused. He is lost. But he is alive. #fuckyoucovid19
01.01.2022 Every parent during Covid-19 Do NOT hurt yourself as I am NOT going anywhere near the hospital Someone didn’t listen.... #waitingonxray #rollerblading
