It was a busy time of year, the census was on. Lots of people coming to town. . And then Mary and Joseph turn up.... . This is his moment to be part of the greatest story ever told. To host the birth of the saviour, the King of kings. . Yet in his busyness, he missed it! . Something for us to consider... Are we so busy at Christmas time (or any other time of the year) that we’re missing what God is trying to do? . Maybe you feel like in your busyness you missed your chance... Don’t worry, God has not left you out of the story! . The innkeeper might’ve missed that moment, but the purposes of God weren’t thwarted - God’s plan to bring our saviour into the world still prevailed. . 19.01.2022 Happy New Year friends! I think we can all agree 2020 was not the best year, but we’ve definitely learned some things. It would take days for me to tell you all the things I’ve learned this year (like travelling in a pandemic with kids ) but here’s one hot tip...... It’s never too late... for that thing you’ve always wanted to do, the dream you want to pursue, the new thing you want to learn, the conversation you need to have. And it’s not too late for your relationship with God. 2021 can be the year you find him, find him again or draw closer. Instead, let the Spirit renew your thoughts and attitudes. 14.01.2022 Off to camp! A big milestone in Australian culture, children will go on an overnight camp when they’re in grade 5 or 6. . And although it’s definitely not the first time my eldest has been away for the night, it was still a big moment. . But it’s these moments that we raise them for. And at some point we have to release them into God’s hands and trust that God will fill in the gaps of our parenting.... . My prayer for her as she takes this step is a verse from 1 Samuel... And the boy Samuel continued to grow in stature and in favor with the Lord and with people. 1 Samuel 2:26 NIV . 01.01.2022 I know the words to pretty much every Christmas Carol there is. If I was ever asked why my ‘special subject’ is on a quiz show, it’d be carols or Friends! . The reason I know them, is because every Christmas when I was growing up, my grandmother insisted on us all sitting by the piano and singing as she played. . When I was a tween she even roped me into performing with her at the local club and for the local retirement villages.... . She passed a few years ago now, but every time I sing carols in church at this time of year I’m reminded of her legacy. . Because it wasn’t just singing carols, it was teaching me the word of God. It wasn’t just about Christmas, it was knowing Jesus and why he came to earth for us. . It was this foundation that she laid that lead me to give my heart to the Lord at 16. . And now as an adult, I’m trying to pass that same legacy onto my children. It’s looked a little different this year - with carols online and no singing in church. But the heart remains the same. .
