25.01.2022 We think all of our staff are absolute legends, but this special shout out goes to Andy, our WA Workshop Service Technician! After ex-Tropical Cyclone Seroja tore through Kalbarri, Northampton and the surrounding area, causing widespread damage, Andy quickly took a week off work to volunteer with WA State Emergency Service. Being housed in an indoor basketball court all week, Andy aided with the recovery and clean up efforts - even finding himself helping out at Oakabella Hom...estead, Campground and Tea Rooms, a Five Senses outpost keeping workers fuelled with our Crompton Road blend. P.s. how cute is ‘Sir Roger’ (Seroja), the baby lamb! The little guy came from Northampton and was rejected by his mum when Seroja hit, but has found a new home at Oakabella. #drinkcoffeedogood #impactingpeoplepositively

22.01.2022 WATCH: Supply Chain Hurricane: Weathering a perfect logistical storm in 2021 by Caravela Coffee. _ For those who don't regularly deal with global, or even national logistics, its easy to be unaware of the current landscape. In short, shipping has gone from "tricky" to "chaotic" over the past year due to Covid-19 and other factors. Strong, respectful and compassionate relationships across the entire coffee community have never been more important, and we're collaborating close...ly with our importing partners to find workable solutions for everyone involved. Our Director of Coffee, Matt Slater, and the entire green department are doing a stellar job "hitting moving targets". They have an incredible amount of contingencies planned to keep our house blends consistently delicious, as well as securing unique and interested coffees to showcase. But, the risk of delays and disruptions are still present, even to internal shipping; fires in Feb closed the main rail network to Perth resulting in a delay in green coffee arriving at our Rockingham Roastery! So we thank all our coffee customers for their patience and understanding so far - lets continue to support each other and our communities! ^Han _ #caravelacoffee #coffeeimporter #coffeeroaster #logistics

16.01.2022 As a supplier, learning that a cafe is changing ownership brings on all sorts of questions; will the new owners be as quality focused? Do they already have a favourite coffee roaster? And a million other considerations! But when we got the call that Adelaide specialty coffee stalwart, Larry & Ladd, was changing owner, bought by none other than long time Five Senses lover and Larry & Ladd head barista Billy Hogarth, we knew this institution would be in safe hands! Billy, along... with chef Carlos Astudillo (who's done time at another of our Adelaide favs, Hey Jupiter) are full of enthusiasm and a passion for supporting Larry & Ladd as a welcoming, community focused space - but with a refresh. A new all-day menu is now available and their selection of pastries are all made in-house. As for the coffee - well it's absolutely on point, as always ^Han Read the full Broadsheet Adelaide review: https://www.broadsheet.com.au//regent-arcade-cafe-larry-la _ Nick Lawrence for #BroadsheetAdelaide #adelaidecoffee #larryandladd #adelaidecafe

12.01.2022 No doubt, just like ourselves, your thoughts, inboxes and news feeds are filled with the shifting landscape of the current COVID-19 outbreak and how it will affect your business and your families. At Five Senses, we’re tackling this with a focused team who are meeting daily, making sure we’re doing everything possible to continue roasting and delivering coffees to you while ensuring everyone’s health is a top priority. The first step in this is that we’re following all Austra...lian Government Department of Health and WHO’s recommendations for hygiene and social distancing (you can keep up to date here: https://www.health.gov.au//novel-coronavirus-2019-ncov-hea). We’ve been dosing out the hand sanitizer liberally and ramped up surface sanitization and deep cleaning regimes. Our personable staff are now stopping their natural urges to handshake, hug or hi-five, instead opting for the footshake or ‘howdy’ from appropriate distances, while many of them are also working from home. The other thing we’re doing is continuing to roast and send out delicious coffee! But please note the freight system in locked down areas has been strained and there might be some delays to these areas. We've also stopped all public access (think pick up orders / warranty drop offs etc) to locations in locked down areas for the safety of both our staff and the wider community. While we’re taking every step possible to protect the heart of our business our roasting and operations teams in many ways, they’re committed to maintaining supply as usual. Our Coffee Department is working closely with their team, our importers and extended supply chains to ensure access to our green bean stock continues un-interrupted. At this point we don’t forsee any disruption to supply as normal, however, as we know, it’s a rapidly changing landscape. We’ll make sure to keep you informed of any updates to this situation so we can all manage things as smoothly as possible. -Team Five Senses
