Now that Burgundy has achieved such levels of fame that wines from top domains are out of reach to many drinkers, its thrilling to find people exploiting terroirs that have previously, for one reason and another, been underestimated. These arent cheap wines in the context of Beaujolais but, given their absolute quality, they are relative bargains. Jamie Goode, ...Noble Rot Magazine. These have just arrived. Released with age, these are current-vintage wines of the highest calibre. Very much Burgundian in their depth, detail and structure, these belong at the absolute top end of the Beaujolais ladder. 13.01.2022 Using a light winemaking touch and low yielding fruit, Andrew Marks makes lovely single vineyard wines, mainly from the Upper Yarra Valley. Andrews wines are expressive and complex, generally showing luxurious mouthfeel, plenty of fruit and sappy acidity. They are quite hedonistic, with plenty of complexity and interest, meaning that a whole bottle can hold your interest and disappear very, very easily. The Chardonnay successfully treads a path of showing tight, zingy, whit...e-fleshed fruit whilst also providing softness and roundness through well-handled oak. The Pinots are detailed, textural and layered while the Syrah shows more than just glimpses of the Northern Rhone.
