19.01.2022 Happy 119th Birthday to the Australian National Flag! Heres some fun facts you might not have known about the Australian Flag! The flag was first flown on the dome of the Royal Exhibition Building in Melbourne on this day.... There were over 30,000 entries for the flag but a young school boy won and received 40 for his design. The Union Jack symbolises the history of British settlement. The Commonwealth Star has seven points and reflects the six Australian states and the seventh reflects the territories. And the Southern Cross is the only constellation which can be seen from the Southern Hemisphere in Australia.
