05.01.2022 Mayor's Office of Toowoomba City Mayor Paul Antonio The Philippine Overseas Labor Office (POLO) representatives of the Philippine Embassy in Australia headed by... our Labor Attaché Ms Cynthia Lamban arrived in Toowoomba City today to visit some of our Filipino skilled workers in welding industry under 482 visa. Ms Cynthia and her party were received by the Filipino-Australian Business, Industry & Communities Council of QLD Inc. (Pres Roberto, VP Feli, Mena and Cy Marisse). So grateful for Mayor Paul Antonio of the time he afforded to our visitors during the courtesy call after 5:30pm. (Thanks Tita Mena Theresa Edmondstone for facilitating it). Mayor Paul provided us with an overview of the council's priorities which boils down to regional development, job creation, economic participation of migrants, social inclusion, and positioning the region as a training and international education destination, and regional relocation. He added that the employers in vehicle manufacturing industry in the region are notable for their support to their overseas workers, and this has been attested by the Filipino workers themselves who are working at the Lionel Moore Trailers in Pittsworth. Mayor Paul also highlighted how the Filipino skilled workers and migrants have settled quicker and fit perfectly well in the wider Australian culture specifically in Toowoomba region and surrounds. The courtesy call ended up with a Filipino dinner at Kusina Grill & Bar. To Mayor Paul Antonio, thank you again for your unending support to our Filipino skilled workers, international students and migrants, and to the FABICCQ community organisation. As a community, we are one in support of your vision for the region and we believe in your leadership! ***Flaglines Regional Placement Agency for welders and boilermakers in Toowoomba Region!
