19.01.2022 Darren Muir, Crew Commander at Hertfordshire Fire and Rescue service immersed himself in the virtual FLAIM scenarios at Emergency Services Show in Birmingham last week. Darren said: FLAIM Trainer is a brilliant piece of training equipment. Darren was one of many fire service professionals who got to try the latest version of FLAIM Trainer at the Emergency Services Show and immediately saw the strong added value of FLAIM Trainer for firefighter BA training. ... Everyone agrees that hot fire training is an indispensable part of firefighter education. The virtual FLAIM Trainer however can improve competency by offering a large variety of realistic, immersive scenarios offering firefighters to train their branch handling techniques before going into a hot fire container. FLAIM Trainer was introduced to the delegates at the Emergency Services Show by The Fire Service College. "The adoption of the FLAIM Trainer by The Fire Service College is another example of the continuous strive for innovation at the College," said Ted OBrien, Director of Product and Quality. Author Bobby Carlton highlights that an average of 11 firefighters have died every year since 2008 in the USA during training sessions; VR could help reduce those numbers. The article advocates that by putting firefighters into VR, they are able to control and eliminate all of the dangerous elements of training while still providing them with the knowledge and experience that w...ill keep them safe during a real emergency. It talks about adoption, stating that firefighters around the US have been incorporating VR into their training plans for some time.
