24.01.2022 Chris Dockrill talks with ABC presenter, Cameron Marshall, about the premiere of "Flame Trees".

21.01.2022 Have a listen/look at this interview with Richard Kinny from TNK FM and some of the cast from Flame Trees.https://youtu.be/RqgFbovXwkI

18.01.2022 Just a clarification. The wonderful full-page article in Tuesday's Argus indicates that one of our performances will be at The Bank Conference Centre. This performance has just been replaced with another performance at The BandBox Theatre. So ... no theatre restaurant. Pictured - Colleen Harradine as Cynnie Talbot (the barmaid you do NOT mess about with) laying down the law to Deano aka Den, (the footy coach who has led his team to innumerable defeats.)

18.01.2022 Tickets at: online at TicketHost, in person at Coastline Credit Union and Hourglass Jewellers. Don't miss out! Great pre-launch review by Sharryn Naylor: https://www.macleayargus.com.au//letter-town-and-its-roug/

18.01.2022 Yesterday was the last performance of the world premiere season of Flame Trees. We had well over 850 people see the show over it's nine performances, which means, we played to near capacity houses for most performances. Once again, the cast were amazing for their final show to a packed house. It was such a satisfying conclusion to an amazing project. We brought serious contemporary theatre back to the Macleay and, judging by the numbers of people who saw the show - and left raving about it - we obviously satisfied a driving need in the community. Thanks you to all who came along to support the show and my sincere congratulations to the cast.

16.01.2022 Last night's performance was as professional as you can get. Huge crowd. Left the audience stunned by and full of praise for the production. Only 5 shows left. Don't miss it. Live theatre like this is very scarce in Kempsey. Tickets at Coastline Credit Union branches, Hourglass Jewellers or on line at Tickethost; https://tickethost.com.au/v2/EventList.aspx

16.01.2022 A few pics from the play.

05.01.2022 Amazing coincidence last Sunday matinee. There are two characters in the play named David Ainsworth and Ian Richardson. It just so happened that we had in the audience a David Ainsworth (from Crescent Head) and Ian Richardson (from Bonny Hills - heard about our play in Sydney!). I asked them, "would the real David Ainsworth and the real Ian Richardson raise their hands. This is what I got:

05.01.2022 Tonight, we literally turned people away. Flame Trees played to a full house and knocked 'em dead!!! One more show - tomorrow - Sunday - If you want to be guaranteed a seat, call Chris at 0427 660 401. Please don't be offended if we have to turn you way if you have not booked in advance.

04.01.2022 Wonderful post from Steve and Jane MacDonald: Chris, Wow! From the first word written down to the actors taking their well deserved bows. What a journey for you! (and all the others who have been involved as well as your audiences). Very enjoyable live theatre. ... Enjoyed the story line and the intrigue of the characters with their personalities coming to the surface in "Flame Trees" ...a place not that far away. Enjoyed the acting, piano playing start and end (who is the piano player?) Enjoyed the Act 1 to Act 2 transition. So patient the actors to wait until all teas and coffees were drunk..... a bit like putting the pause button on. Enjoyed the set. Enjoyed sitting in the Band box watching your play a lot! Congratulations to you and all! Steve MacD See more

04.01.2022 Last night Flame Trees premiered to a near capacity house at The Bandbox. It is fait to say that the audience were amazed at th quality of theproduction, the performance of the cast and engaging plot. Well done to the Flame Trees Cast. Flame Trees will play another 7 performances up to the 16th February. Don’t miss it. This is a unique opportunity for Kempsey people to experience polished and contemporary theatre right her in their own backyard.

03.01.2022 Tickets are now on sale at Ticket Host. Don't miss out!!!! This is not a play for those sensitive to coarse language, sexual references and some violence. It’s a gritty drama about real people in a country town. Inspired by the Don Walker song of the same title, playwright Chris Dockrill set out to provide his answers as to who the she in the song is and why she is not around. The central character is Terry Kennedy who left Flame Trees 10 years ago and was determined ne...ver to look back. Now, however, circumstances, fate, or maybe love has called him back. However, Terry quickly realises that little has changed in his home town. Same characters, same stories and the same old underlying conflict that drove him away. The one person who is not there to greet Terry is Julie and only Terry holds the answers as to why she is ‘not around’. See more
