22.01.2022 Roselands Flames Women's Bowling Club are staying as a group. New location is at Moxon Rd Sports Club. Play day Thursday. Contact Moxon Rd & leave message / contact details for ladies to return contact for any enquiries.

22.01.2022 Canterbury-Bankstown Council have been informed of the possible breach of the zoning requirements by the Lantern Club and are investigating. Check our website at roselandsflamesbowlingclub.com for the announcement of the DEATH OF A CLUB.

22.01.2022 Hi Everyone Bowls NSW advises Zones that following the announcement concerning COVID-19 yesterday, we would like to clarify our stance and that which should be conveyed to clubs by Zones; It is Bowls NSW direction that ALL Bowling Activities be suspended for the immediate future.... Whilst government restrictions, currently in place, determine what can be organised for outside gatherings (500 persons) and inside gatherings (100 persons), Clubs who still choose to hold social bowling activities and/or practice/roll ups do so at their OWN RISK. Bowls NSW does not endorse any club decision to carry on with any bowling activity on their premises. Please be alerted that we have been notified of a club who chose to ignore this advice and has had a potential case of COVID-19 on the premises. This is now out of Bowls NSW control as to what happens to those persons at that club who were present at that time and what is to happen with the premises of that club. Bowls NSW directs Zone Executives and their committees, to ensure this consistent message is relayed to clubs when fielding enquiries. Bowls NSW will provide constant updates regarding COVID-19 and its impact to our sport on our website, with a special COVID-19 information page https://rnswba.org.au/n/coronavirus-updates-from-bowls-nsw/ Regards David Ellis Head of Sport & Operations logo Level 5, 309 Pitt St, Sydney NSW 2000 T. 9283 4555 | M. 0450 956 485 www.bowlsnsw.com.au

21.01.2022 Happy May Day to all of our followers. A newsletter has been posted by BowlsNSW. For those who may be interested you can find it on BowlsNSW website or a link in the "NEWS" section of our website (roselandsflamesbowlingclub.com) To all remember to keep to the isolation rules and keep your heads down.... A call to bowlers who are on islolated and on their own wouldn't go astray either. I am sure that a friendly voice would be appreciated!

21.01.2022 NEWS FROM RNSWBA Roll-Ups and the Law Please read the update below regarding the state of play with roll-ups. In Summary - By Law - a maximum of 10 people are allowed on any green at any time. Social Distancing must be practiced. Furthermore Clubs are obliged to make every effort to keep a log with times, names and phone numbers of those rolling up.... This must be maintained for 28 days and be produced to NSW Health if required. This is to assist with contact tracing where necessary. The specific announcement by NSW Government in relation to this can be found here: https://rnswba.org.au//Exemption-to-Public-Health-Orders-1 We now have to wait to hear from the Lantern Club who have been appraised of the exemption granted by the Health Minister.

20.01.2022 Been reluctant to make this post but finally bit the bullet. As far as the Lantern Club (and Mingare) is concerned the Flames are no more as they say, due to a new business model and Group Restructure forced upon them by the coronavirus, they will no longer fund Green maintenance so the Flames (Men&Womens) Club has to go. Unfortunately we have been singled out for destruction however they will continue to support their other bowling clubs though in a reduced capacity. We,... alone, are not worth supporting though they will help members to relocate. They do have some obligations under their existing zoning which is Public Recreational and they have been asked to explain how they plan to overcome the conditions this zoning imposes. You will be notified if they ever get back with an explanation. As soon as anything happens the details will be posted here. To say the least this is very disappointing but not really unexpected. 19.01.2022 ****** IMORTANT NOTICE ****** All Bowls (Competition & Social) have been cancelled until further notice. This, unfortunately, includes our ANZAC Day ceremony.... ********************************************************************** Joint Advice From Women's Bowls NSW and Bowls NSW Regarding CORONA VIRUS (COVID-19) Both Women’s Bowls NSW and Bowls NSW have been continuously monitoring the Coronavirus situation. Subsequent to a teleconference meeting with Bowls Australia and all State & Territory Associations late yesterday and with regard to the notice released by Bowls Australia today (17 March 2020), Women’s Bowls NSW and Bowls NSW jointly advise the following: Amid growing concerns and uncertainty in relation to the spreading of COVID-19 and to provide a safeguard to all members, volunteers, clubs and their staff, especially concerning the demographic that encapsulates a large proportion of both associations’ memberships that Women’s Bowls NSW & Bowls NSW have decided that: All bowls events be suspended for an indefinite period, effective immediately (from this date). This relates to all association events, competition events, club events and tournaments.

19.01.2022 Teams for this week up on the notice board. Same as last week.

17.01.2022 As everything is in shutdown mode there has not been anything to post. Whilst in lockdown the thought occurred to me - the majority is of our bowlers are in the ‘at risk’ group and many are widows/widowers and home-alone. If you have their numbers give them a call just to see how they are coping.... Even though many have children they are also under stress and a call from a non-family member would, I am sure, brighten their day. ... and if they are locked up with their husband/wife with no ‘bowls relief’ it could help them as well!

17.01.2022 Just to be clear about this. The Roselands Flames Bowling Club (both Men & Women) has not (as at this time) not folded or wound up. The Lantern Club and their parent Mingara have stated that they will no longer fund the Club nor the maintenance of the Greens. As there is no longer any Sport associated with the Lantern Club, and as the whole area is zoned "Private Sporting", they are now, potentially, no longer compliant with their zoning requirements as a purely commercial activity is not permitted within this zone.

13.01.2022 Thought you might appreciate an update on the current (non) state of play: After Mingara announced that they would no longer maintain the Greens and support the Bowling Club Cr. Linda Eisler was contacted and asked to see whether Mingara were in breach of the current zoning of the land (Private Recreational - RE2). Council's GM was also contacted directly and asked the same question. His response a couple of days later was that the Club was a permissible use and that Council ...could not stop the closure of the Greens. He suggested that the only thing to stop such an occurrence was to have a caveat imposed on the Greens (i.e at the time of amalgamation or in the original Grant). The Memorandum of Understanding between Roselands Bowling Club, signed by Dave Walker and Steve Wilson, was checked and (unfortunately) found to contain the following: "Mingara intends that the bowls facilities of the Roselands' premises will be retained whilst ever there is a demonstrated playing demand for bowls at these premises, subject to the sustainable financial viability of the Roselands' premises". The important phrase is " sustainable financial viability" which has allowed the Lantern Club to worm out of the responsibility to continue funding the Bowling Club. Unless there was a caveat placed on the land in the original land grant of Parry to the Roselands' Bowling Club which, unfortunately, has not been located at this stage. It looks like we will all have to find a new home.

07.01.2022 Tell your friends, in fact tell everybody that may be interested - you can now book Barefoot Bowls on our website. Pretty useless now that all bowls are cancelled but it may be useful when things free up again! At least it gave me something to whilst in home detention.
