25.01.2022 Today is my Mum’s 70th Birthday and I really wanted to give her something a little special and different; rather than store bought choccies. So I bought her a dozen Glamarons macarons - I went for Lemon Meringue, Black Forest, Chocolate Brownie and Banoffee. Mum loved them! While social media is full of images of empty supermarket shelves the posts that I find the most upsetting are those from small South Australian businesses pleading with customers to continue to support them. 19.01.2022 Today is my first full day back in the office. After having my eldest home from childcare for the last two months, like everyone, I have had to shift my focus. While there is frustration about not being able to operate as I previously had, it has also given me time to reflect on what I have achieved in the short life of my business and what I want to achieve in the future. Like so many industries during this pandemic, the wine industry is doing it tough and I really wanted to support a local SA winery. I recently had a bottle of the Jericho S3 Shiraz and it was so good I jumped on to Jericho Wines' page and found they are offering this special tasting pack. What an awesome idea! With the closure of cellar doors for tastings (most are still providing drive through options) what a great way to showcase their range. 14.01.2022 I completely under estimated how hard it would be to come up with a name for my business. I knew what the business was going to be, who my target market was and the services I wanted to offer but a name! In a way it was pure fluke that the name came about. My husband and I were throwing names around and Flamingo Dream was amongst them. It sounded great, but it needed to mean something to me. I did a search on flamingo dream and I found a dream site that explained that dr...eaming of flamingos often means new experiences and beginnings. It couldn’t have been more perfect. It encompassed everything I wanted my business to be for me and for those I helped. So my advice is, remind people where your name came from and what it means to you.
