Narromine Shire Council’s four legged friends can wag their tails in delight as the dedicated dog area at Rotary Park is now completed. The upgrade to Rotary Park is equipped with fencing, a dog bubbler and water bowl, seated picnic area, waste bag dispenser and bins and some additional trees for shade. There is also a series of dog agility equipment with hoops, ramps, jumps and weave poles for the canine athletes. Narromine Shire Council Mayor Clr Craig Davies said that dog parks bring many benefits to the community, they encourage dog owners to exercise their pets and themselves, meet fellow dog walkers and be part of the Narromine community. At the same time the dedicated area prevents dogs interfering with other activities and events at Rotary Park. Narromine’s canine residents and their human owners now have additional fun places to explore beyond their home, where they can expend pent up energy and have fun with friends, added Clr Davies. The upgrade to Rotary Park was funded with grant money received from the Federal Government’s Drought Communities Programme. Additional improvements to Parks in Narromine include replacing playground equipment at Dundas Park and upgrades to the surface of the basketball/multi court, netball club amenities, 2 additional netball courts, play area and landscaping at Apex Park. 11.01.2022 GOOD NEWS FOR FERAL FIGHTING FARMERS 14 May 2020 Farmers across New South Wales are being supported to continue important biosecurity work on-farm, as the Environment Protection Authority (EPA) temporarily adjusts pest control accreditation periods for landholders in response to COVID-19. ... Central West Local Land Services Biosecurity Team Leader Nigel Boyce welcomed the exemption saying it will help protect farmers and the environment from feral pests like pigs, wild dogs and foxes. The EPA has extended Vertebrate Pesticide Accreditations due to expire, and those that had expired since 1 March 2020, until 20 October 2020. This is good news for landholders in our region undertaking autumn baiting, and those already coordinating their spring campaigns with neighbours. The support and adaptability of Local Land Services has been a constant throughout the drought, fires, floods and now COVID-19. We’re here when it matters, and ready to support you with innovative solutions for pest management, including Covid-friendly bait collection and advice around best practice for pest management in our part of the state Mr Boyce added. We offer a safe, contactless service to limit social contact, and ensure you’re still able to manage pests effectively. The agency is currently working on developing an online training solution for Vertebrate Pest Induction Training. The course covers topics such as baiting techniques, toxicity, storage, transport, legislation and work health and safety. Those completing the course will be issued a five-year accreditation to use 1080 and Pindone for feral pest control. Landholders are encouraged to call their nearest Local Land Services office to express their interest in the online training, and to talk to a biosecurity officer about immediate options for pest management or planning for the months ahead. Landholders can access LLS support and services safely over the phone on 1300 795 299, via the new online form at centralwest.lls.nsw.gov.au, or through Facebook Messenger.

02.01.2022 19 May 2020 TRAVELLING STOCK RESERVES OFF LIMITS FOR FIREWOOD COLLECTION With the cooler weather hitting NSW, Local Land Services is reminding people that it is illegal to collect firewood from Travelling Stock Reserves (TSRs).... While it is lovely to enjoy a roaring fire when the mercury drops, do not get burnt by a hefty fine for taking wood illegally, said Local Land Services Director of Regional Operations, Rob Kelly. Anyone caught removing timber or disturbing vegetation (alive or dead) from a TSR can be fined up to $5,500 under the Local Land Services Act 2013. These rules help protect the integrity of the network of Travelling Stock Reserves which is recognised as an asset of state significance with agricultural, social, cultural and ecological values. TSRs are an extremely important refuge for many rare and endangered native plants and fallen logs and standing dead wood can be part of their habitat. Decaying timber and leaf litter are also important in the process of nutrient recycling back into the soil. We need to make sure there is a clear understanding in the community about the importance of TSRs and their long term viability, Mr Kelly said. When it comes to firewood collection, TSRs are off limits and our staff are continuously monitoring activity for any illegal behaviour, he said. Action may be taken against anyone found removing firewood or carrying out other illegal activities such as dumping rubbish or four wheel driving. Members of the public are asked to report any illegal activity to Local Land Services on 1300 795 299, or to contact NSW Police on 131 444. Taking note of registration numbers, descriptions, locations and dates also provides valuable information that can assist in the prosecution of offenders. While firewood collection is not permitted on TSRs, members of the public can apply for a permit to collect firewood from selected state forests. Contact 1300 655 687 for details or visit: www.forestrycorporation.com.au for further details. For more information on TSRs visit www.lls.nsw.gov.au/tsr or call Local Land Services on 1300 795 299.

01.01.2022 HELP US HELP YOU - CHECK YOUR LETTERBOX Local Land Services is urging landholders to keep an eye out for Annual Land and Stock Returns which are landing in mailboxes this week. Annual returns are a statutory requirement and the data provided ensures Local Land Services customers get the help they need when emergencies or disasters strike. We’re urging landholders to complete their Annual Land and Stock Return online, because that’s the quickest way to ensure we can respond s...wiftly and accurately when needed, said Business Partner, Emergency Management, Steve Eastwood. Landholders can help us help them in an emergency or biosecurity event, he said. Annual Land and Stock Returns are a snapshot in time, much like a census and landholders should fill in the details as they were recorded at 30 June. Annual returns need to be lodged to Local Land Services no later than 31 August. The information gathered builds a picture of agricultural land use and livestock numbers across NSW and assists in monitoring flocks and herds for emergency animal diseases. We understand circumstances change over a 12 month period, and after a hard few years, reporting livestock figures can be confronting, especially when landholders have destocked due to drought, fire or flood, Dr Eastwood said. Executive Director Regional Operations, Rob Kelly, noted that the livestock figure landholders provide on their return does not affect the amount they pay in rates. Local Land Services rates are calculated on a property’s Notional Carrying Capacity. Mr Kelly said it is vital Local Land Services has accurate, up-to date information so it can best deliver services. It may not be top of every landholder’s to-do list right now, but we need all returns so we can understand what’s happening on the ground across the state, he said. In an emergency situation like last summer’s fires, our team will be supporting landholders as well as other agencies and suppliers to roll out an enormous amount of practical help, as well as information and advice, he said Lodging online only takes a few minutes. Visit www.lls.nsw.gov.au/alsr and follow the links to the dedicated portal.. The online process can be done in three simple steps and helps reduce face to face contact with Local Land Services and mail service staff, although postal lodgement is still available. See more
