21.01.2022 Sharing this video to showcase a young chap that I met last year at the China Top Show. The pilot is Ben Cohen, a 13 year old from Israel. His dad told me that his son is obsessed with flying and every moment of the day he thinks about it. At school lunchtime he can be found on the simulator. It's all about practicing and improving. No tricks or gimmicks. Just plenty of stick time. He's a lovely kid that is going to be one of the world's best. When he does make it to the top ...remember the hours he put in day in day out to get to that point from a very young age. It didn't just happen. In countries such as China and Israel we are seeing some amazing pilots develop thanks to the support of parents, flying clubs and other mentors. It's not the size of the country that counts but how supportive the people can be to allow pilots to become the best they can be. I'd love to see a freestyle movement pickup in Australia as it represents one of the most creative forms of flight, especially when flown to music. Without our encouragement of the new breed of Australian freestylers such as Marius Baumgartner, Brad Worm and others they can quickly burn out due to the barriers put in front of them by others. These guys are not dangerous. They just fly at a level that most of us cannot achieve because of the hours of practice they put in. They hone their skills on simulators to build up the muscle memory before taking it the field. They practice with foamies before attempting the same maneuvers on bigger aircraft. They are calculated in their approach and work on improving their precision. The last thing they want to do is crash and do everything in their power to make that a rarity. To all the budding freestylers out there be rest assured Flat Out RC is behind your movement and urge you to keep on practicing and drawing inspiration from the worlds best so you to can walk besides them at the pinnacle of RC plane flight. Fly low my friends.

06.01.2022 To celebrate Ido Segev's brithday I thought it would be good to share a video of his flying action that has never been shown before. This video was shot at the China Top Show in 2018. We were fortunate to have Jase Dussia at the event and in this case Jase let Ido have a fly of the plane he was flying. At this stage of Ido's life he wasn't out flying RC planes much as most of his time went towards fullsize flying. Ido had done no more than ten RC flights in the 12 month per...iod prior to this day including the demo flights he had done at the event. While sitting in our hotel room, Ido had told me how nervous he was to fly and felt that he was no longer in the same league as Jase and Martin Brandmüller who was also a guest pilots at the event. Like a Dad I told him that he hadn't been practising so what more could he expect but that he was still a more competent flyer than 99% of the pilots at the field and the crowd loved him anyway. Ido did a number of demo flights during the competition which went really well but was in awe of Jase's flying. Jase offered him a fly of his plane and Ido took up that opportunity. The plane was an Extreme Flight 104" Extra running a DA120 motor. Ido had not flown a gasser for years so was a little out of touch with the slower throttle response. Ido loved the simplicity of electric planes even after years of flying gassers. The funny thing about this video is that it shows the master and the apprentice. Ido had been the master that Jase looked up to but now Ido was Jase's apprentice with Ido lookig up to Jase and the skill he had in piloting model planes. You can imagine how nervous Ido was to have Jase by his side watching on and you can tell that Ido was very tentative with the way in which he flew the plane. The last thing he wanted to do is crash. As the event progressed Ido became more enthusiastic about his flying and had loosened up a lot. He came up to me at one stage with a big grin on his face and a pep in his step saying how Jase's more aggressive style of flying was rubbing off on him and he was pushing his flying at the event more. Rolling faster, getting lower even in the windy conditions. Ido went on to test fly an Extreme Flight 91" Laser with an electric motor and fell in love with the plane. He rushed over and said that it was one of the best planes he had ever flown and he wanted one. Knowing that he was not really flying RC a lot I went into Dad mode again and said that in one weeks time, if he still had the same level of enthusiasm for the model, that he should maybe buy one. We returned home and Ido quickly forgot about the model and went back to enjoying his fullsize Pitts and other fullsize aircraft. Happy Birthday my friend.
