25.01.2022 There's nothing better than home cooked food! Even sausages and rissoles cooked on a BBQ with some salad or just in bread, makes for an awesome meal. Imagine how much better those rissoles, sausages or even grilled chicken would taste with a home made sauce! This recipe was handed down by my Grandmother and I have adapted and changed it a little over the years. Now, I've even added a Flavourista touch!... Ray's Tangy Tomato Sauce Ingredients 10 medium (about 1kg) ripe tomatoes, peeled, chopped 4 large (about 800g) apples, peeled, chopped 4 medium (about 480g) onions, chopped 1/4 cups raw sugar 1/4 cup Worcestershire sauce 2 C Apple Cider Vinegar 2 C water 2 tsp Maldon Sea Salt 1 Tbsp Flavourist Ponderosa Spice Blend 1 Tbsp Flavourist Curry Korma Spice 2 teaspoons dry mustard 1 teaspoon ground black pepper Method - Combine all ingredients in large saucepan. - Stir over heat, without boiling, until sugar is dissolved. - Bring to boil, simmer, un-covered, for about 1 hour, stirring occasionally. - Allow to cool a little and pass the sauce through a mouli to extract as much juice as possible. You should be left with a small amout of seeds and fibrous matter. - Rinse the pot and return the sauce to it. Bring it back to the boil and then pour into steralised bottles and seal. * This sauce should keep for about 8 weeks as is or up to a year if processed in a water bath preserver (such as a Vacola).

25.01.2022 I was preparing breakfast the other day and couldn’t decide what to have. Do I make some waffles and have them with some maple syrup, strawberries and cream or do I go down the savoury path and have some hash browns with egg and bacon? So, I thought to myself, ‘Self’, I thought, ‘Why don’t I take the best of both and make Hash Brown Waffles?’. After congratulating myself on such a great idea, I set about discussion how I could achieve it (yes, the lock-downs in Victoria are getting to me!). I've used the Flavourista Chive & Onion Spice but you can try different blends depending on the flavour you're in the mood for :-)

24.01.2022 So I was making a no bake cheesecake and it was taking forever to set. Not sure why!

12.01.2022 One from the vaults!!! Need a dessert for two in a hurry? Well this little beauty will satisfy the kid in all of us from the beautiful spongy pudding to the smooth and silky sauce. Not to mention, it only takes about 3 minutes from beginning to end to knock this one up. Make this for the kids and try a variant for the grownups. Try using Flavourista Irish Cream Syrup in the cake and sauce, then substitute the cream in the sauce for Baileys!... INGREDIENTS PUDDING 5 Tbsp Self Raising Flour 1 Tbsp Icing Sugar (sifted) 2 Tbsp Cream or Milk 1 Egg 2 Tbsp Flavourista Butterscotch Syrup SAUCE 1 Tbsp Butter 1 Tbsp Cream or Milk 1 Tbsp Icing Sugar (sifted) 2 Tbsp Flavourista Butterscotch Syrup METHOD 1. Make the sauce first using the method below. While it is cooling, whip up the cake and get it cooking. 2. For the cake grease the inside of a small pudding or microwave proof glass bowl. 3. Mix the dry ingredients in a separate bowl 4. Add all wet ingredients and mix to a batter with a fork. If the batter is too liquid, add extra flour 5. Transfer batter to greased bowl 6. Microwave on high for 90 seconds. Cake may still look a little moist on top, this is fine. 7. Turn out onto serving plate, drizzle with sauce and enjoy with a scoop of icecream or cream. SAUCE 1. Melt butter in a small saucepan. 2. Holding over the heat, stir in the cream, syrup and sugar. Keep stirring until the sugar has dissolved. 3. Take off heat and allow to cool and thicken a little. NOTES Try substituting different Flavourista Syrups to change things up a bit. For a chocolate pudding, add 1 or 2 Tablespoons of Flavourista Heavenly Chocolate Powder and add enough extra cream or milk to maintain a thick batter. You could also remove the syrup for a pure chocolate experience by substituting the syrup with milk. Serve the Chocolate pudding with Flavourista Chocolate Dessert Sauce or Flavourista Berry Dessert Sauce.

11.01.2022 Grandma's Secret Christmas Pudding For me, Christmas is a very special time of year for one important reason! It's that time of year I can break out my pudding bowls and make my very special Christmas Puddings! My grandma used to make these in about April. It would take her days to make and cook about 6 individual puddings with each one being anything up to about 5KG! Yes, 5KG!... She had an old boiler out in the back yard which she kept topped up and boiling for a whole week while she prepared and cooked each pudding in turn. Once cooked, the puddings were hung in her laundry room until they were distributed just before Christmas. Over the year's I've made modifications to her original recipe and adapted it to cook in a 2 ltr pudding bowl. Some of the changes have meant you need to cook it closer to the day but that suits me much more. After all ifI made mine in April, I'd be making another in May, June, July and so on! INGREDIENTS 375g dried mixed fruit 75g Pitted Dried Dates (chopped) 75g Dried Cranberries 75g Glace cherries (chopped) 75g Dried Pears (chopped) 75g Dried Figs (chopped) Finely Grated Rind of 2 Oranges 250ml Fresh Squeezed and strained Orange Juice 250g Butter (chopped) 1/3 C Brandy or Cointreau 1 C Brown Sugar (firmly packed) 1 C Plain Flour 1 C Self-Raising Flour 1 tsp Bicarb Soda 3 tsp Flavourista Grandma’s Secret Spice Blend 3 eggs (beaten) METHOD Step1 Combine the fruits, orange rind and juice in a medium saucepan. Place over heat and ding to a boil. Turn the heat to low and gently simmer with the lid on stirring regularly until fruit is soft. This should take about 10 minutes. Step2 Remove from heat, add chopped butter. Stir to mix and leave aside with the lid on to melt the butter and cool the fruits. Allow to cool for about 45 minutes and then mix thoroughly, adding the brandy as you go. Step 3 Add the beaten egg and sugar, combining well after each. Sift combined flours, bicarb and spices into the wet mix (if the saucepan is not large enough, transfer to a bowl) and stir until well combined. Gently spoon mixture into greased pudding steamer, smooth top, and secure the lid. Step 4 Place pudding basin into a large saucepan. Pour in enough boiling water to reach of the way up the steamer. Place over medium heat and bring to the boil. Cook, covered, topping up with extra boiling water if necessary, for 5 hours. Pudding is cooked when a skewer inserted into the centre of the pudding comes out clean. Leave stand for at least 10 minutes before serving with your favourite toppings. Can be made ahead and stored (wrapped in cling film) in the refrigerator. Reheat as required in the micro-wav-ey!

06.01.2022 Great handy tip for spruicing up your toast. Add some of your favourite spice blend to a jar of cheese spread. Spread some bread and toast in a toaster oven or under the grill until bubbly and brown. In these pics, I used a small (245g) jar and added 1Tbsp of Flavourista French Twist Onion Spice gave it a good mix and returned it to the jar. Refrigerate for an hour or two to let the flavours develop and then enjoy!

06.01.2022 With the cooler months aproaching, I know that I'll be eating a lot more pasta dishes. I like to change up my sauces and pastas a bit and try different recipes all the time. The one thing I often have, no matter what pasta I choose, is garlic bread. There's nothing like that hot, buttery and garlicy bread to mop up the sauce from your plate. My cheesy garlic scrolls are a perfect substitue when you feel like something different. The butter mixture will do about 4 batches maki...ng it easy to increase the number you make. Ingredients 1 Pizza Dough ball (this will make about 6 scrolls) 100g Butter 3 or 4 cloves of garlic, minced 1 tsp Flavourista Italiano spice 100g (approx) grated cheese blend 20g fresh grated parmesan Method - Place butter, garlic and Flavourista Italiano Spice in a small pan and melt together over a low heat. Heat through for about 5 minutes, stirring regularly. Make sure the butter bubbles a little but the heat is not high enough for it to burn. Once butter is infused, remove from heat and let it cool a little. - Roll out the dough ball on a lightly floured surface to a rectangle about 30cm long by 15 to 20cm wide. Do not let the dough get too thin. - Using a pastry brush, liberally brush about 1/4 of the herb butter all over the dough, ensuring you scoop up lots of garlic and herbs as you do. - Sprinkle liberally with cheese. Roll up along the long side to make a loose roll. Don't make it too tight so the dough can expand. - Cut into six and arrange on a pizza tray. Brush with a little more herb butter and sprinkle with freshly grated parmesan. Cover loosly with a clean tea-towel and set aside in a warm place to rest. - Turn on oven and preheat to 220C (200C Fan). Once the oven reaches temperature, place scrolls in and bake for approximately 20 minutes. Exact times may vary by afew minutes depending on many factors, but the key is to ensure they are wll browned and cooked through. Notes. You can easily increase the quantity of scrolls by adding additional packages of dough. Try making your own dough using SR Flough and greek yoghurt.

04.01.2022 Soups as so easy to make and an great meal any time of year. They’re also a good way to use up a glut of vegetables. Once cooked, soups can usually be frozen and reheated pretty much on demand. I went to the pantry today and found a few sweet potatoes that I wanted to use and put together this little beauty. Using some Flavourista Moroccan My World Spice and a few basics, I turned the humble sweet potato into a delicious soup.

04.01.2022 I love risotto and cook it regularly. I have a couple of favourite versions that I spend a very long time standing over to ensure that I get the right consistency when it’s cooked. I had always been a traditionalist and would never try it any other way, which of course meant I didn’t cook it very often. I mean, who has the time? Right? Well I guess I was wrong! I was given an awesome recipe by my Tupperware rep, made using the Tupperware Micro Pressure Cooker and thought I might give it a go. Of course, this is me we are talking about, so I had to change the recipe and Flavourista is up! Whit this recipe, you dump everything into the pressure cooker, turn it on and go hang out the washing!

03.01.2022 This one is a real flavour bomb. With the lock-downs here in VIC, I am struggling to get my cherished KFC (nearest is 30km away!). Failing KFC. I would normally get Satay Chicken from the Chinese takeaway but even that's a no go for me. Home delivery you say? Nope. I'm in the bush, no Uber Eats here! With the release of Flavourista Satay Mas Spice, I decided to work my magic and create a dish combining my two favourites, so here it is, my Fried Satay Chicken! I've not included a sauce recipe here but it goes well with the Satay Sauce recipe on the back of the pack or (if you're feeling lazy) your favourite bottled satay sauce from the supermarket!

02.01.2022 Looks like Christmas is still on. Santa has his travel permit all sorted. Apparently he's been cleared to stop off at Flavourista HQ on the way to collect a huge number of Christian Hampers to be delivered to lucky recipients. So have you been Naughty or Nice this year?
