22.01.2022 In 2006 Jim Arrowsmith and Pete Tonge, both from Chorley in Lancashire, were backpacking around Australia, but couldn’t find a decent pork pie, ‘for love nor money’ so decided to make them themselves, and so the business was born. . Jim was fresh from university but also had some pig farming experience, Pete was a British Trained chef, disillusioned with the chef trade, they thought they had all the experience to make a real go of it. . They built their first factory on a pig... farm named Pacdon Park in Bunnaloo, rural NSW. Converting a derelict dairy shed into a commercial kitchen, tiling for a month, building their own stainless steel benches and pork pie machine. Located 50km from the nearest town, backpackers became their budding workforce, and that’s where the third leg of tripod joined the team. Jane, now Jim’s wife, grew up a stone's throw from the boys in Lancashire, England, but a chance meeting brought her into the mix. . These days Pacdon Park has relocated to a beautiful vineyard on the banks of the Mighty Murray River near the twin towns of Echuca (Victoria) Moama (NSW). . Their ethos is still the same as when they began, to ‘make what we miss’. using the whole Free Range Pig, sourced from several small farms in our local area. From that great pork @pacdonpark make their whole British ‘style’ range, using local ingredients, time and tested traditional methods with nothing unnecessary. Pacdon Park now sell across eastern Australia, from their ‘Pork Pie & Produce Store’ in Echuca, to restaurants, delis and quality butchers from Hobart to Cairns. 21.01.2022 Matthew Bentley will be first to take the stage at Flavours on the Wharf THIS SUNDAY, 14th April from 1pm. Matthew Bentley is an acoustic guitarist and emerging coastal folk singer/songwriter, with a penchant for a bit of surfing on the side. His earthy music reflects who he is as a person, in touch with the world around him and his home by the water on Australia’s Raymond Island.... With his 12-string Maton guitar, Matthew won the 2016 Bairnsdale heat of the FReeZA Push Start competition, going on to win at Gippsland regional level to earn a spot on the Push Stage in the 2017 state final at the St Kilda Festival. The 18 year old came second out of nine acts from around Victoria, winning the APRA Songwriter Award. Matthew regularly performs at East Gippsland festivals and events, and was selected as support act for Sydney singer-songwriter and actor Keegan Joyce at the Latrobe Performing Arts Centre in January 2017. A spot at the Bruthen Blues & Arts Festival kick-started a busy 2018. Matthew’s first single WAKE UP was recorded at Spectrum Productions in Traralgon - check it out here! He has plans for more recording, live gigs and touring, while finding inspiration for more new songs in his cottage by the water.
