14.01.2022 COS "Flyer" repsonding out of the old engine bay back in 2013. This newer model Scania is a bit of an upgrade from the old model Scania "Flyer" I rode a few times out of COS back in the mid 90's! Mind you, I still think the larger size Hella halogen beacons on the old Scania were more effective than these particular LED pods! :)

04.01.2022 Looks like the NSW GRN radio network is finally active on the North Coast! We've been picking up P25 digital trunked radio traffic from the GRN site at Mount Nardi from all over the Northern Rivers! We've been able to hear the NSW GRN from the Mount Nardi site right up to Tweed Heads, and even over the border in the car park of the Gold Coast International Airport at Bilinga, Qld. At this stage, the GRN is not fully functional accross the north coast of NSW however certain GR...N sites have been "switched on" to aid in aircraft and ESO operations for the bushfires still burning in northern NSW. The GRN sites we've logged so far as being active are: Mount Nardi (SW of Byron Bay), Buckombil Mountain (SW of Ballina), Mallanganee (SW of Casino) & Halfway Creek (between Grafton and Coffs). Stay tuned....exciting times ahead for the emergency services and the way they communicate! If you're an avid radio-scanner enthusiast, you could also say "expensive" times ahead as the NSW GRN (Government Radio Network) uses Phase 1/Phase 2 P25 digital via a trunked radio network. In other words, that old analogue scanner will eventually become useless and to listen in on all the action, you'll need a new scanner capable of recieving this new digital network.
