24.01.2022 Mariam joined our team at the beginning of 2020 in our Lorikeet Room. Mariam co-shares the teaching of our 3 year old kinder program with Emma. We are so fortunate at Co-op to have 3 (almost four!) early childhood teachers at Co-op, this means our educational programs for all our children even the youngest is backed by strong research and understanding of children’s formative years.

24.01.2022 Supporting children’s literacy skills in every day life learning, these experiences help children to transfer their knowledge to reading texts later in life #learnthroughplay #educationthroughengagement #confidentcapablechildren

23.01.2022 Today our children took part in storytelling with Annette from Yarn Strong Sista. The story of Bartja and Mayila features in our mural that Annette painted at Co-op many years ago now, however still plays an important role in talking to the children about friendships. Thanks to Maribyrnong Toy Library for organising this event too! What a brilliant session and way to continue our learnings

21.01.2022 The children at Co-op on Friday talked about ANZAC day and it’s meaning. They also made ANZAC biscuits and learnt about how they were posted across the world to our soldiers

20.01.2022 Today the Co-op children created letters/pictures for the Dan Andrews in relation to the cutting down of the sacred tree #djabwurrung - it’s so important for us to work together and talk to our children about the world around us, to make meaning of what’s happening. It’s one of the main ways we will achieve our why, to #nurturethefuture we couldn’t be prouder of our children and the messages they have created. #confidentinvolvedcitizens

11.01.2022 There have been 389 gastro outbreaks in Victorian childrens settings this year - that's four times higher than average. To stop the spread it’s really important to: wash hands well with soap and water (teach children to do this as well, and supervise them) keep children at home if they have symptoms, and for 48 hours after symptoms cease ... stay/go home if you have symptoms, and remain at home for 48 hours after symptoms stop. Learn more at: https://www.betterhealth.vic.gov.au//condi/gastroenteritis

06.01.2022 Ramadan Mubarak This year, Ramadan starts on the evening of Monday, April 12. The Islamic holy month is always held on the 9th month of the Islamic Lunar calendar. Since the calendar depends on the moon cycle, Ramadan falls about 11 days earlier each year. ... During Ramadan, Muslims abstain from food and drink from dawn to dusk yes, even water. When the sun sets, there is a communal meal called 'Iftar' where you break your fast, usually with your family or friends. But the month of Ramadan is about more than just fasting. You are also encouraged to do good deeds such as charity, and abstain from sinful acts such as gossip. It's also a month of self-reflection and a way for Muslims to develop positive habits that can be brought forward once Ramadan is over. #celebrateourdiversity #nurturethefuture

03.01.2022 Really happy to see MAC in the paper today for their successful vertical learning approach.

03.01.2022 It’s mushroom season. Although beautiful they can be very poisonous - we talk to the Co-op children about not touching mushrooms in our yard but it’s a good time for you to also. Particularly if you see some, use it as a learning opportunity. If they are in your yard, remove them with gloves/paper towel and wash your hands so that children see you taking precautions. They will then understand to come and tell you.
