25.01.2022 The Colts bowls have arrived

24.01.2022 Team owner Jason Kuiti asks Queensland Premier League Skip for Enoggera, Queensland State player, Co-host of the best Bowls Show on Facebook "The Queensland P...remier League Bowls Show " 2019/20 State Fours Winner, Runner State Singles and alround Journeyman of Queensland bowls Steven Tong who won the Warilla UBC Wildcard Entry at the UBC Draft a few questions: 1.Who is the funniest person you know in bowls? A: A mate of mine who doesn’t play anymore by the name of Peter Fitch will have you in stitches with one liners and sledges, Matty Lucas and I seem to have some great banter and jokes, but there are a few jokers in the game. 2. What's your favourite discipline i.e. singles, pairs, etc.. A: Love the team game so fours would be my favourite, especially through premier league, 12 people trying their guts out for each other. 3. What do you like about the UBC concept? A: Probably the fact you can buy a (raffle ticket) in the draft and get picked out to play in one of the richest and strongest comps ever formed, you either get chosen or get lucky (wink wink). 4. What would you change to improve the UBC concept? A: Haven’t played in it yet so at the moment I wouldn’t change anything, people have been saying time limits and other things so not really sure to be honest. 5. Select your Ultimate UBC team. A: I was pretty lucky to select my own team so would have to go with what I chose, Leroy and Seamus. 6. If you were asked to come up with a bowls concept what would it be? A: That’s a hard one, but maybe at the Australian Open bring back the mixed pairs again and would love to see a Junior/Senior Comp from everyone around Australia competing. 7. Who are the best 3 players you have played with? A: Geez there are heaps but my three would be Jo Edwards, Sean Baker and Mark Casey (back in the day). 8. You have been invited to play in a prestigious fours tournament, name your dream team including yourself and positions. A: Haven’t played with some of these guys so I would love to but Jo Edwards, Aaron Teys, Nathan Rice and Myself, cause anyone could skip a good team (lol). 9. Who do you know who always talks about bowls and nothing else? A: Gary Lawson, had a few trips with him during premier league at Enoggera, oh man I thought I could talk....ha ha love ya Gaz. 10. Name your top 10 all time skips . A: No particular order Kurt Brown, Sean Baker, Kelvin Kerkow, Wayne Turley, Nathan Rice, Aron Sheriff, Charlie Hayes, Brett Wilkie, Shane Garvey , Matt Flapper. 11. If there was one rule you could change in bowls what would it be? A: Everyone can follow their bowl and stand at the head to watch the game and be involved. 12. How do you judge your line and where do you stand on the mat? A: Visualize the shot I’m going to play and look at the arc of my bowl turning and pick that point half way and stand on the inside of the mat. 13. How would you attract new members? A: Bowls is a sport for all ages but it is really beneficial for people that have been in contact sport or more physical sport, I would concentrate on those people coming out of their game and want to still compete but can’t on their own anymore or people that have bad backs. Etc. 14. What is holding bowls back from attracting new members? A: Nothing really, just need more people to be more hands on and promote the game. If every person that plays worked on just getting one person they know into the game it would be pretty significant impact wouldn’t you think???? 15. What advice would you give an aspiring bowler wanting to advance their game? A: Keep at it, don’t let your dreams fade, took me 25 years to play for my state in the open men’s, best day, week, year of my life. Don’t give up. 16. When bowlers say I'm going to the club to practice they generally just play a game, what is your interpretation of practice? A: Practice with purpose, be positive and don’t get frustrated. Form is only temporary. 17. Name an up and coming player you think will be a star? A: There’s a few juniors I’d name but don’t have to be young to be up and coming. A mate of Mine Nathan Chapman gives it everything he has got and his determination and focus is second to none. I’d like to see him be at the pointy end of some big comps when we are back on the greens. 18. Do you have a pregame routine? A: I try to listen to some music and chill out before most games, and try to be funny which normally calms most people as well when we are playing. But I don’t focus until I’m playing my bowl, can only control the bowl in my hand until I let it go. 19. What's the biggest obstacle you've had to overcome in bowls and how did you do it? A: Probably a couple, was pretty exuberant in my younger days so have definitely pulled the reigns back a bit now and fear of Flying, still have the fears but continually working on them, lots of support from a few bowlers that have had to sit next to me, hey Wizz and Georgia, Big Damo (lol). 20. With the UBC playing all three events back to back to back at Deer Park in one Ultimate week with $500,000 prize money up for grabs, name two finalists teams for each event and the Ultimate Bowls Championship team . A: Too Hard to pick, hopefully our Wildcard team will be at the pointy end and hopefully Team Kuiti bags another. 21. What is your fondest bowls memory? A: Probably last year 2019 when we could actually get on the greens, lol, but debut for QLD, State Fours winner and Runner up in the singles and runner up in AUS Open fours, always a good time when you play with your mates. 22. What are 2 questions you'd ask a world class bowler that aren't that aren't on this list? A: Would you like to have a game together sometime and Do you wanna Lead or Skip??? Thanks for sparing your time Tongy to answer my questions mate, I look forward to catching up with yourself at the UBC Ultimate Bowls Week starting on the 14th of December at Deer Park. Tongy is an Excitement Machine on the green and will be playing without fear as a UBC Wildcard winner at Deer Park in December. Tongy has selected a World Class Team to support him in the UBC with Current World Singles Champion of Champions tittle holder, Victorian State Skip , Perennial Winner and Shock omission at the UBC Draft Night having played outstandingly well for the host club Deer Park in the Inaugural UBC Championship last year Lee Schraner and NZ International Seamus Curtin. Captaining such a highly talented and fiercely competitive team who have the UBC experience of Schraner combined with Quality New Zealand International bowler Seamus Curtin means that any team foolish enough to underestimate this lineup will be in for a rude awakening . The Richest Prize Pool in Bowls $500,000 will be up for grabs at Deer Park Bowling Club in Melbourne starting on Monday the 14th of December when the most Elite Bowling Field in the World will play 3 Consecutive Tournaments over 5 Action Packed Days for there chance to WIN A Staggering HALF A MILLION DOLLARS IN PRIZE MONEY. 10.01.2022 Ultimate Bowls Week - Team Preview Last week we provided a team preview on the Streaky Bay Sharks and The Point (Taren Point Bowling Club). Both, the Sharks a...nd The Point were two of the more impressive teams in 2019 and this is likely to continue in 2020. The two teams are stacked with International players and will be a force at the Ultimate Bowls Week in December. Today, we provide team previews of the champions of 2019 The Dandenong Club and winners of event three Port Melbourne Borough Boyz. DANDENONG CLUB The Dandenong Club were simply sensational in the inaugural UBC season. They got off to a great start with a victory in the first ever UBC event at the Warilla Bowls and Recreation Club. Gary Kelly played the "shot of the tournament" to get his team the win over Warilla with the last bowl of the match in the incredible quarter final clash. Kelly continued his brilliant form through the year, and he received excellent support from Australian Jackaroo Barrie Lester and Aussie legend Wayne Turley. Both Lester and Turley combined superbly laying the perfect platform for Kelly. Winners of the Ultimate Team for 2019, and will go close again in 2020. Prediction: Hard to see this powerful trio not featuring heavily in finals in 2020. Kelly loves the carpet surfaces and with the strong form of both Lester and Turley, we’re expecting The Dandenong Club to win at least one event in 2020. PORT MELBOURNE BOROUGH BOYZ The Port Melbourne Borough Boyz were terrific in the final event of the year, earning them the chance to play Exodas in the final. The team from Port Melbourne went into the final as underdogs but came away as champions after the complete team performance in the biggest match of their careers. Exciting young star Nathan Wilson was brilliant during the whole event, but his performance in the final had to be seen to be believed. Together with Brett Spurr and Johnny McCarron, the Borough Boyz got better in each event and will head into the Ultimate Bowls Week full of confidence. Prediction: A lot depends on Nathan Wilson, he only has to repeat his form from the final event of 2019 again to ensure the Port Melbourne Borough Boyz will be one of the teams to beat in 2020. Next week we preview the Flemington Kensington Colts and the Bowls Asia Tigers

I have nothing but respect for Luke always helping me with anything at all, when I was in a tough spot luke backed me and did everything he could to help me and still is. Just don’t put short bowls in his line or then you will see him fired up Thanks Liam for making the time to answer my questions which gives everyone an insight into the Youngest player ever to play in the UBC. Good luck to team owner Tony of the NCE Raptors also his players Liam Deano ,Chopper and Team Manager Luke Aiello at the Ultimate UBC week being played in early December at Deer Park.
