25.01.2022 Recently the Gawler East Link Road Project achieved another significant milestone, constructing a precast concrete arch structure - known as BEBO Arch System, n...orth of Gawler-One Tree Hill Road, Gawler South. The structure forms an important role in building the connection between Gawler One Tree Hill Road and the South Para River, and will assist in maintaining a key environmental corridor for local fauna, such as the Flinders Ranges Legless Worm-lizard (a vulnerable species). In all, 16 precast concrete arch units were craned into place - each weighing approximately 20 tonnes. Local contractors were engaged to undertake the works. The Gawler East Link Road project will provide local traffic with direct access to Main North Road without travelling through the Gawler Town Centre, reducing travel times, and improving safety for motorists. 13.01.2022 What weighs 1,550 tonnes, was fabricated in SA and is made of Australian steel? Twenty steel bridge girders, of course! They’re part of the Flinders Link Projec...t that will extend the Tonsley Rail Line to the Flinders Medical Centre. Despite COVID-19, construction on some of the state’s largest projects, like this one, continue to forge ahead.

06.01.2022 REMINDER - As part of the Flinders Link Project, the following road closures will be required for installation of steel bridge girders across Main South Road an...d the Southern Expressway: - Southern Expressway (lowered motorway) will be closed in both directions from 8pm tonight (Friday 10 January) to 6am Monday 13 January. - Main South Road (southbound) surface road will be closed between Sturt Road and Flinders Drive from 8pm tonight (Friday 10 January) to 8pm Saturday 11 January. The first two bridge girders were successfully installed back in December which will support the elevated rail bridge over the Main South Road (southbound) surface road. Check out the video to view how it all came together, and what an achievement this was from the project team. A total of 20 bridge girders, ranging in length between 30-50 metres, will form the 10 spans to be installed as part of the project. Each span requires two bridge girders to be lifted into place using two cranes. The girders are then placed on top of the piers (upright supports) or at the abutments (each end of the bridge structure) to form the base of the bridge deck.
