25.01.2022 What’s that thing in the next box?

24.01.2022 How crazy would it be to work for Australia Post at the moment? 22 days for a parcel to get from Adelaide to Bathurst. 14 days and still counting for a parcel from Adelaide to Inner city Melbourne. Hang in there folks!

23.01.2022 Flash back to a bottling a few weeks ago, proudly featuring our new 12-head bottle rinser I had just finished building. Single use filtered water controlled using an Arduino hooked up to relays to run the solenoids. Very happy how this bit of kit turned out!

22.01.2022 Still, there are tasks that must be done regardless of what’s happening in the world. Like blending barrels. At least there’s a decent cuppa waiting at the end of the row when the jobs done

20.01.2022 Takes more than combat gear to make a man Takes more than a licence for a gun Confront your enemies, avoid them when you can A gentleman will walk but never run... Release date mid next week. Fingers crossed

20.01.2022 A good run overnight. Time to release the pressure...

17.01.2022 Ok so with so much happening around here even though the cellar door is closed for normal service, I forgot to mention that these two Gold medal winners are finally released for purchase. Unless you are on our mailing list- then you already knew about it...andavagoodweekend!

16.01.2022 Boortmalt- because there’s a little bit of Swedish Chef in all distillers. Boort Boort Boort Boort!

15.01.2022 Ok so it’s all systems go here at the moment with production in full swing. We’ve been getting enquiries about Father’s Day, and with Covid restrictions still in place here’s how it works: 1. We are operating on restricted numbers for cellar door, so it’s first in first served - sorry no bookings as we can’t afford empty chairs for people who don’t turn up. 2. Every on must be seated, and that includes children- yes, they are part of the 2sqm rule too! 3. Sorry, we don’t do f...ood, we have a production licence and run a cellar door only, so you may have to book for lunch somewhere in advance. Stay safe peeps! Gareth. See more

15.01.2022 Labelling. It’s good - it indicates you’re getting towards the end of a whole process. But it’s so monotonous. Bottle on. Roll the label . Bottle off. And repeat.... And repeat. And repeat. Ad nauseam. Oh the monotony! Oh the humanity!

15.01.2022 Ok, so we have some annoying issues with our shop page at the moment, and a completely new website is being constructed as we speak. But it’s officially now released. The Black Gate/Fleurieu collaboration (affectionately referred to as the BFG) is out there. 300 bottles only. Get on it!

13.01.2022 So. Earlier on this year before the world went mad we won two gold medals for two wonderful single malts at the American Distilling Institute awards. Dilemma.... Auspost is obviously not coping. Parcels are taking several weeks to cover distances that normally take three days max. Consequence. Nobody wants to order from an online shop to find their parcel arrived battered and bruised over a month later. We’ve decided to put off releasing our Gold medal winners until we’re confident that the management of Auspost has their shit together. Bonus. Rest assured that when we do release these two gems out into the wild, we’ll make sure the discount coupons and free postage is worth the wait . Mental note. Must email [email protected] if I’m not already on the mailing list. Over and out. Gareth

12.01.2022 Forecast is for a hot one today, not a cloud in sight. We’ll be be closed, see you on the weekend !

12.01.2022 Modesty, propriety can lead to notoriety You could end up as the only one Gentleness, sobriety are rare in this society At night a candle’s brighter than the sun

10.01.2022 It’s been a busy few days here as we all adjust to the new normal. Consequently that has meant less time on social media. Our malt supplier has closed, so we’ve temporarily shut down our brew house and are putting our stills to sleep after a good clean.... Cellar door is now shut until further notice, all sales are online (and we do have a new one up on the website- cask strength apera cask - perfect for living in interesting times). There will be a few more releases yet in the lead up to winter, plus a nice surprise release for fans of Australian Whisky. We’ll chat more later, in the meanwhile stay safe and considerate. 09.01.2022 If Manners maketh man as someone said Then he’s the hero of the day It takes a man to suffer ignorance and smile Be yourself no matter what they say Be yourself no matter what they say ... Fronti? Fronti. Can’t call it white port anymore. Geographic appellation and all that. So Fronti it is. A mixture of predominantly Muscat Blanc Petit Grains, Muscadelle and Semillon. To me it could almost be described as part way between Tokay and Sauternes in character. 550 bottles, 46%, 700ml as always. Hopefully due out at the end of the week - will post an update as soon as it happens. Bring on Friday!!!

07.01.2022 In these crazy days of closures and solitude, Fleurieu Distillery received some happy news... The American Distilling Institute Awards for 2020 were able to complete the judging of spirits in this International Spirits Competition this year and have announced the results. All three Fleurieu whiskies entered this year were awarded medals. This good news comes amidst enormous loss being experienced by so many across the globe so it is with a kaleidoscope of feelings that we s...hare the results below... Signal to Noise Single Malt Whisky: Gold Medal Cartoon Lurve Single Malt Whisky: Gold Medal Moon River Single Malt Whisky: Bronze Medal These two gold medal winners will be released shortly after Easter. We’d like to extend our congratulations to all those who gained recognition for their spirits. Especially to Cameron Syme for Best of Category, Best of Class and Trophy for Limeburners Heavy Peat Single Malt Whisky. Great to see an Australian craft distillery being recognised internationally yet again! Finally, from our family to yours, we wish you all the best of health in the weeks ahead. 05.01.2022 Early morning mash in - hope your day starts as smoothly!

02.01.2022 So, with a long weekend coming up it’s time to put a few things in place. Yes, our cellar door is open but due to the covid restrictions we can only have twelve people seated inside and eight outside (if it’s not raining). This probably won’t even cover wages, but we have plenty of our whisky, gin and ales for takeaway. And rug up, it will be cold in this shed, with a forecast of 15 for Saturday and 13 on Sunday. Cheers!
