25.01.2022 Some very helpful and realistic tips about getting back to exercise from one of the other great local Exercise Physiologist's Meredith from Move to Live - Exercise Physiology at Port Noarlunga South. #gosouthgolocal #Onkaparinga

24.01.2022 Did you know that on the Onka Website there is a map tool where you can identify all local public parks, playgrounds, recreation facilities and loads of other local facilities. If you are looking for other options to be active outdoors check it out and you might find a nice place to walk or take the dogs, kids, or grandkids. https://www.onkaparingacity.com/My-area

23.01.2022 What an amazing Monday morning! This kind of weather encourages a lot of people to get themselves outside and start exercising again. If this is you great job!! Just remember to progress slowly and allow your body time to adapt. Injuries and grumbles often occur when we increase our exercise demand too quickly and some of us are more prone to these body grumbles than others. If you would like advice on safe progression to reduce the risk of frustrating set backs, touching base with an Exercise Physiologist is a great place to start

23.01.2022 ***COVID-19 Update - Clinic operations in SA Hello lovely Aldinga Community!! At this point the directives from government are for Allied Health Clinics to remain open and operating and so we shall, with all the measures to keep you safe. If there are any further changes I'll be in touch. It remains incredibly important, and this is an opportunity for a quick reminder, to keep doing all the basic hygiene measures we know so well:... - Don't attend the clinic (or go out anywhere) if you are unwell and have flu symptoms. - Wash your hands regularly and use hand sanitiser on entering and leaving the clinic. - if you have been tested for Covid-19 do not leave self-isolation until you have received your negative result. Thank you so much. Claire

22.01.2022 Have you gotten up from your desk today? There has been a decline in physical activity especially among professionals. This is often a result of poor posture,... leading to chronic neck and lower back pain. A study found that there is a reduction in muscle condition that occurs as a result of sitting at a computer desk for long periods. This was directly correlated to the onset of neck and lower back pain in many individuals. Would you like to find out more? 22.01.2022 If you have been thinking about walking more but like the idea of a supportive and social environment to start please try Heart Foundation Walking groups. Walking has benefits for our cardiovascular health, lower body strength and function and our mental health. These groups are free and very inclusive. I run a group on Monday mornings at 8:30am leaving from the carpark in front of SOURC'D Wine & Coffee Bar in Aldinga. Everyone of all ages and abilities is welcome. Jump on to their website to find the local Aldinga Walks below. If you would like to join me our group is called the Aldinga Esplanade Walkers!

17.01.2022 Being physically active is one of the best things we can do to reduce the risk of Alzheimer's!

16.01.2022 Well after a big week it is nice to hear that already the restrictions on Allied Health and other areas are lifting earlier than we thought. What a great effort by all! Not exactly what I had planned but I am still taking a restful break next week. Stay safe and look after yourselves and those around you. Enjoy the time in our amazing part of the world, that's what I'll be doing!! I'll be back on board Monday 30th November. ... Claire

15.01.2022 Please vote for our wonderful little piece of the world in the Mainstreet of SA Awards. Aldinga Village on Old Coach Road has been nominated in the People's Choice category. It is simple to do but we need you to cast your vote!! #gosouthgolocal #Onkaparinga

14.01.2022 Thank you to every one of you who has been doing their bit to wear your masks and check in at the clinic. It has been a fast transition but we are getting used to these now and have got this mastered!! Keep up the great work!

13.01.2022 How great is this piece of equipment! It can be adapted for all of us whether we are able bodied or not becoming both a recumbent bike or an arm cycle. We consider it so important that everyone has ways to work on improving their aerobic fitness, and those of us needing to use a wheel chair or other means for mobilisation shouldn't be left out. Great work ladies!

11.01.2022 Have a wonderful Christmas Aldinga. I am back on deck next Tuesday the 29th Dec. Stay safe!

11.01.2022 Caring for yourself during this busy time of year can be challenging. Many of us lose the 'relax' portion of our holidays as they get jam packed with all the fun things and expectations. This is a great little article reminding us that one of the presents we should be giving ourselves this time of year is to care for ourselves. Look after yourself mentally, physically and emotionally.

11.01.2022 Movement is a powerful tool for improving mental health and an area I love to work in. Here are some ways movement can improve your mental health: Releases endorphins which make you feel happier Improves mood... Improves social connection and relationships with others\ Improves sleep Increases energy Great stress relief If you would like to know more why not start by having a chat to an Accredited Exercise Physiologist!

07.01.2022 This is the message to be driven home. We need to keep ourselves moving. Those meeting the Activity Guidelines not only have better physical and mental health but also function better at work and at home. Sometimes however, aiming for the recommended 150 minutes of aerobic exercise a week seems unreachable. If this is you, you aren't alone. Starting with a personalised and realistic plan is the key. Working with an Accredited Exercise Physiologist will get you going and provide the support to keep it up.

03.01.2022 Exercise is proven to help prevent, manage and treat Osteoporosis, or poor bone density. We need to right prescription though so ask an expert and get your bones stronger!!

03.01.2022 A great action shot of exercise physiologist Tate coming up with new ways to challenge clients working on balance, coordination and strength. And it has to be fun!

02.01.2022 Following the announcement today of new directives for Healthcare services, we will be implementing some new changes as of 1/12/2020. This includes our Fleurieu Exercise Physiology Clinic. 1. Surgical face masks will be mandatory in Fleurieu EP for all people attending. Government has decreed that only surgical face masks are accepted, cloth or fabric face masks do not meet the criteria. We will have some face masks available but please, when possible, bring your own mask. 2.... Visitors entering with out an appointment (carers, family, friends on clients, etc) will be asked to sign in using the myGov App and QR code, or to record their details on entering. This is to assist with Contact tracing, should it be required. It may be an inconvenience but the reasons behind this are sound and we thank you for your understanding and cooperation at this time. Claire

01.01.2022 Keeping active is vital for us all as we age not only to keep us physically and mentally health, but also to keep us able to do the things we love and make us who we are.
