Four strength classes Three laps of the grunter Two fitballs And a spikey ball in a Christmas tree ---------------------------------------- The party season can make it a little tricky to eat healthy but we have some strategies for coping with the overindulgence and late nights that are an inevitable but enjoyable part of the festive season. - Stay hydrated: on the day of a big night out increase your intake of water and herbal teas. Alcohols diuretic effect means you need much more water than normal. Sipping water between champagnes can make a big difference to how you'll feel the next day. -Before heading out try snacking on something with a little protein like fruit and yoghurt. This can help overdoing it with the canapés. - Allow yourself to enjoy all the food on Christmas Day... then return to a normal healthy eating plan from Boxing Day. See if you can limit the unhealthy leftovers (especially the Christmas Pudding!) in your fridge after Christmas. The festive season is upon us and it's easy to abandon our fitness regimes and give up on exercise until the New Year. "It's Christmas!" One of the biggest barriers to exercise is a lack of time, but the Christmas holidays provide an opportunity to begin or maintain physical activity! How to stay fit this Christmas: -Schedule just 20 minutes of high intensity interval training. Scheduling your exercise first thing in the morning means you can enjoy your day feeling energised... you could even plan it while everyone is still sleeping -If visitors stop you getting to the gym or heading out try and get everyone involved: a day hike or beach cricket can please everyone. -If you're holidaying away from home get creative with your workouts: use your luggage as a weight or minibands. Find some stairs and spend 15 minutes walking/running up and down them (just like the grunter). Aiming to exercise on most days will see you more likely to stick with your Christmas exercise plan. A reminder that Pilates classes with Jess start next week. This 6 week block has two themes. Firstly: embodiment. How to stay present in your body under uncomfortable situations/sensations. This class will be continually flowing with slow movements and your body will burn. It will be challenging to help you train focus and concentration. It wi...ll also work your entire body. Meditation will be included as a practice to take the embodiment deeper. You will leave with clarity and calm (and sore muscles ) Our second theme is mobility. A person with great mobility is able to perform movement patterns with no restrictions in the range of motion of those movements. A flexible person may or may not have the core strength, balance, or coordination to perform the same movements as the person with great mobility. Mobility = supple.
