05.01.2022 Congratulations on your retirement Trish Neumann Flex Physio & colleague Dr Mary Magarey has written a kind reflection on Trish’s incredible contribution to the Physiotherapy profession to help put her amazing work in to perspective. ... Apart from being a fantastic colleague and team member for us all at Flex, Trish has an extraordinary record of service to her profession, both within her own branch of the profession, Women’s Men’s & Pelvic Health, and also within the wider physiotherapy community. Trish has become involved, in more recent years, in research, formal education and management of pelvic pain, heading up a Graduate Certificate in Management of Pelvic Prolapse, providing high class Specialist professional service to those with this condition in Adelaide and South Australia. She has held multiple roles within the WMPH Physiotherapy National Group since its inception and was one of the early cohort within this discipline to undergo the training and examination process to become a Specialist Physiotherapist. Within the Australian College of Physiotherapists, Trish has also held multiple positions within the College Council and its subsidiary committees. An extraordinary record of commitment to her profession. I have yet to meet a more passionate, caring, engaged physiotherapist who gives so much to her profession across so many roles. Her empathy and commitment to help others is extraordinary and we will all miss her enthusiasm, humour and big bubbly smile from Flex but can be assured that she is not yet retiring from her profession, just from clinical practice. Enjoy that additional time that your retirement will, hopefully, allow you with your family and the leisure activities that you love. All the very best Trish!

05.01.2022 Flex want to ensure we provide clear information to our clients and resolve any confusion in regards to COVID-19 & the recent changes we have made in the practice. The Australian Physiotherapy Association have this week confirmed that we are considered an essential service and as such we will remain open for physiotherapy & massage appointments. Your health, and that of our staff, is of the utmost importance to us. We will continue to focus on the sanitisation of treatment t...ables, reception areas, door handles and all frequently touched surfaces. Staff & clients have their temperatures checked on arrival to the clinic and we have adjusted our waiting area to allow for appropriate social distancing. Sadly, with the health & safety of our staff & clients in mind, we have made the difficult decision to cease our Altitude, Flex FIT & Fab 50s+ classes until further notice. We feel that this aligns with the measures being taken to limit social interaction. As an alternative we are offering 1:1 exercise sessions with a physiotherapist for those looking to continue their rehabilitation program at this time. As we continually look for ways to meet the needs of our clients, Flex will also be offering Telehealth appointments. This will assist during these difficult times of self isolation but also in an ongoing capacity as we strive to continue to educate, support & assist people through their rehabilitation process. More information regarding this exciting venture will follow this week. We thank all of our clients for their incredible support and understanding over this stressful & uncertain time. We will continue to keep you updated through this ever-changing landscape.

02.01.2022 http:// SHIN SORENESS As the summer sport season continues, as off-season running programs continue or as pre-season programs begin, it is important to ensure that our bodies are holding up to the load. One condition that can arise is shin splints/soreness. It is characterised by pain or tenderness along the inside border of your tibia, the inside of your lower leg. It can occur early in activity and then reduce, it may cause soreness following activity or even be sore when walki...ng during rest days. It is an overuse or load related problem that can present in a mild form initially and can become more severe depending on numerous factors. Some of the factors can include an individuals level of conditioning, running or training volume, footwear, joint ROM, foot position or mechanics to name just a few. Shin splints/soreness can be managed with treatment and some activity modification but in more severe cases an extended period of rest or cross training may be required. Feel free to contact us if you feel you may be experiencing these types of symptoms and we can assess you to determine what may be going on.
