18.01.2022 Flight Centre charity partner @youngcareoz recently unveiled a state-of-the-art Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA) in Wooloowin, Brisbane. We're extremely proud to support the Youngcare Connect team, a not-for-profit focusing on closing the gap in the disability housing sector. . The new facility [pictured] provides housing and full-time care for residents requiring high care. Over the past 8 years, Flight Centre has donated over $1.4M to @youngcareoz through fundraisers such as Pub Choir, Budgie Bolt, Youngcakes, and Christmas Gift Wrapping which we will be continuing again this holiday season. . 09.01.2022 This Week’s Top Travel News: https://bit.ly/34f9EWB BREAKING: Australia opens borders between New Zealand and NSW, NT from Oct 16 as coronavirus restrictions ease, the news follows QLD's announcement this morning that its border would reopen with NSW on Nov 1 pending COVID case number requirements are met. From 8 October, Singapore will lift border restrictions to visitors from Australia to apply for an 'Air Travel Pass' essentially allowing them to holiday in Singapore......when Austalia's borders allow us to leave of course. @QT_Hotels introduces pet-friendly stays complete with gourmet meals and a vegan menu to choose from, because apparently that's a thing dogs are into now too. The Flight Centre Travel Group announced further change as part of the company’s network management plan to reduce the overlap between stores in higher density areas with about 90 Flight Centre brand stores set to close, leaving a nationwide network of 332 stores. In other random news- Unsurprisingly it's still not kosher to joke about bombs on planes. A New Zealand man and his cousin were booted off a flight and had to appear in court after one of the men joked that his cousin was carrying a bomb onboard. 03.01.2022 This Week’s Top Travel News: Border announcements this week: NSW reopens to VIC & QLD reopens to VIC & Greater Sydney on Tuesday, December 1. Qantas and Jetstar have resumed flights between Sydney and Melbourne. The airlines will operate 17 return flights between the states. It’s going to be a really emotional day for a lot of our passengers. We’re going to see the kind of reunions normally reserved for long haul international flights rather than two cities that are ...only an hour apart," Qantas CEO Alan Joyce said in a statement. The first quarantine-free flight from the US to Europe will take off next month. @Delta alongside Italian airline @Alitaliaofficial will be trialing a new testing program where passengers will be tested twice before and once after the flight leaves, reducing the risk of COVID-19 infection to nearly one in a million and will include other onboard protective measures. According to the @abcnews_au, @Qantas will soon fly to more countries across Europe to help repatriate stranded Australians. Several flights will be put on before and after Christmas from different locations and DFAT is in the final stages of determining how many people will be able to come back on the flights. Boris Johnson announced that the UK’s national coronavirus lockdown will end on December 3. He told the House of Commons that it will be replaced with a new three-tier system across England, which will last until Spring. See more
