23.01.2022 This Week’s Top Travel News: BREAKING: Scomo has confirmed all domestic borders will open by Christmas, except for WA. The 2021 World’s Best Cities list has been released, with five Aussie capitals among the contenders including Sydney, Melbourne, and Brisbane. .... Data from the UN's World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) confirms the massive drop in international travel demand over the period January-June 2020 translated into a loss of 440 million international arrivals and about US$460 billion in export revenues from international tourism. This is around five times the loss in international tourism receipts recorded in 2009 amid the global economic and financial crisis. . Tassie announced this week that it would accelerate its border reopening to Victoria from November 27, ahead of the previously planned date of December 1. . In other random news, @VirginAustralia launched their 'Go go go you good thing' sale, and with so few air sales over the last 8 months, we are so very here for this! Bring on the tiny wine bottles and waiting for bags at the luggage carousel, we miss travelling! . [Pictured: a commercial flight from sometime in the 1950s. Taken, by our estimates, around the same time we last went on an international holiday.] #fortravellersbytravellers See more

SA has opened its border to NSW and QLD has extended its border bubble with NSW @Intrepidtravel's day tour company @UrbanAdventures this week launched a new range of online exp...eriences called Urban Adventures at Home. In other random news: This week's best #straya chat goes to @abcinbrisbane and Mitch Turnbull in Hill End, NSW who shared the apparent magpie theft above. The best part of this FB post however was the comments section where the real winners of 'most Aussie picture this week' goes to Ashley Knight and Nik Knowles respectively one upping the Magpie with a doggo that features a map of Australia and a cockatoo sinking a tinnie on a hills hoist. 16.01.2022 Woohoo! Tasmania opens its border to SA, WA, the NT, QLD, and the ACT from today. Anyone travelling to Tasmania from low-risk jurisdictions will be required to register their travel and contact details before entering the state through a new ‘Tas E-Travel’ registration system. Anyone who has spent time in high-risk areas will still have to apply to enter Tasmania through the ‘Good to Go’ system, with previous announcements from the government revealing fines of up to $16,800..., or up to six months jail, could be handed to those who provide incorrect information. There will be health screening for all arrivals to the state, including temperature checks and questions regarding whether they have any symptoms. Following health screening, those from low-risk areas who have symptoms will be requested to get a test and to isolate until the result is known. Travellers who visit Tasmania via the Spirit of Tasmania ferry, will need to transit directly through Victoria, only stopping for fuel and must come originally from a low-risk jurisdiction.
