25.01.2022 Familiar woes! Note these two quotes - "A spokeswoman for Airservices Australia said it was only responsible for receiving complaints, not acting on them, which was up to the Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA)." and "A spokesperson for CASA said noise was outside its jurisdiction, and that its main priority was safety." https://www.abc.net.au//parafield-airport-austra/12821210

21.01.2022 Excerpt from Noosa Councillor Brian Stockwell's recent newsletter providing a community update on the flight path issues and the status quo of the review - FLIGHT PATHS UNDER REVIEW AFTER SCATHING OMBUDMAN'S REPORT The communities of the northern Sunshine Coast had much to complain about with the way Air Services Australia conducted their consultation on the flightpaths planned for the new runway. I, for one, suggested that Noosa Council would likely have required a more deta...iled noise report for a development application for a model aeroplane club, let alone a major regional airport. The Australian Air Noise Ombudsman listened to the criticisms and recommended a review be undertaken. It is important that our voices are united and that we don't fall into the trap of trying to play coastal communities against those in the hinterland. It is an opportunity for the community to come together to argue for a more equitable outcome. Considering the current flight paths disproportionally affect residents to the north of the airport, Noosa Council has contributed to the cost of a Flight Path Design consultancy being organised by the umbrella group 'Flight Path Forum' (FPF). Flight Path Forum advise "Airservices Australia’s (ASA) Post Implementation Review (PIR) process is now underway, and the community has an opportunity to submit noise improvement suggestions as part of this process. FPF recently engaged a CASA accredited Flight Path Designer to undertake a review of the current flight paths and identify new ‘least impact’ flight path options to minimise noise for residents. Donations to help fund this consultancy are welcome. Following the community update meetings on Saturday 24 October, FPF provided the consultant with further information about the Alliance flights that are causing significant disturbance to Hinterland residents. The Alliance flights were not included in ASA’s 2019 aircraft movement predictions. Prior to the new Sunshine Coast Airport (SCA) runway becoming operational, and while waiting for the Aircraft Noise Ombudsman’s report on the failed consultation process for the new flight paths, Flight Path Forum (FPF) engaged an Acoustic Consultant to undertake baseline noise monitoring in five locations including Verrierdale and Yandina Creek. This baseline data will be invaluable as FPF continues to work for the affected communities." Read more: https://flightpathforum.org.au A new sub-committee of the Noosa Hinterland Residents Association has also been formed under the banner of "Hinterland Unite Flight Action" (HUFA). They recently reached out to members advising: "Although the airport is operating at less than 10% of normal activity (due to Covid19), flights have started to track over the hinterland. Many residents have had their peaceful paradise disturbed by late night or early morning flights, low flying and noisy aircraft."
