24.01.2022 Did you know the story behind the rediscovery of the pygmy bluetongue lizard? Check out the post below for a recap of how these cryptic lizards were first rediscovered in the early 90s!

22.01.2022 The Michael Bull special issue has just been released along with a virtual issue of Mike's papers in the Wiley journals. This tribute edition of Austral Ecology is choc-full of herpy goodness with much of the included research from former students and collaborators of Mike Bull. Check it out here: https://t.co/KAayslESnV

22.01.2022 Our PhD student Gerrut Norval will be presenting some of his research at the RSSA's upcoming meeting on Thursday this week. If you're a non-member of the group and wish to attend this online meeting please contact the RSSA for further information. https://www.facebook.com/roysocsa/posts/3332714563431621

16.01.2022 Congratulations to our PhD students Bonnie Derne and Gerrut Norval on receiving research grants from the Royal Society of South Australia. Both Bonnie and Gerrut presented short talks on their research last night along with the other lucky recipients of the grant. Bonnie talked about her research on assessing the risks of translocating pygmy bluetongue lizards while Gerrut talked about his research on parasites within a sleepy lizard population. Well done!

16.01.2022 Great to see our pygmy bluetongue lizards represented in the craft a critter. A fantastic job by Adelaide! #CraftACritter

15.01.2022 Congratulations to our honours student Sarah for winning a Nature Foundation grant! Sarah will use the funds to conduct her research which will investigate the influence of habitat availability on social living in gidgee skinks.

15.01.2022 Researchers from the LEGS lab had a fantastic trip to Witchelina Station in South Australia's Northern Flinders Ranges last week to monitor our wild gidgee skinks. They were pleased to report that despite such a dry year the lizards are doing well and they were even lucky enough to see some of the babies that were released at the end of last season. Here are some pics that they have shared from their trip. Enjoy! :)

12.01.2022 Thanks to the fantastic staff in the Flinders University library our long term and invaluable sleepy lizard dataset of over 55000 lizard observations is now being digitised!

12.01.2022 This sick little Sleepy Lizard was handed into the Para Hills Veterinary Clinic in South Australia by a member of Fauna Rescue. Apparently, a Golden Retriever found the lizard and retrieved it for its owner to inspect. What a good dog! The team at Para Hills Veterinary Clinic who treated the sleepy for infection, allowed me to come take samples to test whether it was infected with the ‘bobtail flu’. Along with ruling out this virus, the blood sample will help in continuing to create the antibody test for this virus, so super helpful. Big thanks to Para Hills Veterinary Clinic! Robert O’Reilly

12.01.2022 We are excited to announce that along with collaborators, our research group have recently won two Australian Research Council grants to continue our research on lizard conservation, behaviour and sociality! Watch this space for updates on our sleepy lizard and pygmy bluetongue lizard studies! https://mobile.abc.net.au//pygmy-blue-tongue-liz/11893192

10.01.2022 A surprisingly wet start to the field season for our new honours student, Bridgette, who will be working on sleepy lizard ticks and their parapatric boundary.

09.01.2022 Congratulations to our honours student Kendall for winning a grant through the Nature Foundation! Kendall will use the funds to support her research investigating mate choice in the endangered pygmy bluetongue lizard. Watch this space for updates on her research outcomes!

05.01.2022 One of our PhD students, James Dorey, is an exceptionally talented photographer and has just released a book with some of his fantastic photos of Bees. Congrats James on a great achievement! For anybody interested, books can be pre-ordered here: https://www.publish.csiro.au/book/7786/#details
