24.01.2022 A brief update from the team due to issues with reception, our convoy has now returned to South Australia. Team is in high spirits but eager to get back to Adelaide for the BWSC City of Adelaide Finish Line celebrations that are starting tomorrow. Our media team will make sure to update our social media once we know what time they will be in town. They would have had lunch in Marla and then will camp in Coober Pedy. When the car is on the ground its running well and its charging capacity is exceeding expectations. If you want to find out more about the celebrations to welcome them home, go to the finish line facebook event. In the meantime, please check out the photo album, '2019 Workshop and Club Meeting Photographs' highlighting the amazing facilities we get to use at Flinders University!

We would like to take this opportunity to thank the amazing fleet of volunteers at the Bridgestone World Solar Challenge and staff at the South Australian Tourism Commission who took such great care of all challenge participants! This week we drove the Investigator Mark III back into the workshop where it will be safely tucked away while our team catch up on their studies and begin exam prep. Good luck to everyone on their upcoming exams, and if you are a student in need Flinders University Society of Engineers - FUSE will be running some engineering-focused study sessions during SWOTVAC.

05.01.2022 Here are a small selection of our adventures in the club workshop over the course of 2018-2019 while building the Investigator Mark III. We are now on the journey from Darwin to Adelaide representing Flinders University in the Bridgestone World Solar Challenge. As part of the sponsorship agreement we have with Flinders we get access to amazing state of the art facilities, so this is also an album to highlight them.

In this challenge, we make the 3000km trek from Darwin to Adelaide alongside other teams from across the globe. Want to follow FAST on our journey through the outback? Don't forget to like our page, and head over to the BWSC website where the competition organisers generously provide a GPS tracker for your reference(tinyurl.com/y67yqleq). We are 14 in the Cruiser class (blue map point). Last night we settled down in Katherine and are excited to begin travelling today. We encourage you to share this post and help grow our social media audience.
04.01.2022 We thought we would flim the ceremonious occasion. More photographs to come, just follow our page and stay tuned! ------- Flinders Automotive Solar Team (FAST) is one of three South Australian teams racing in the Bridgestone World Solar Challenge, we are a multidisciplinary collaboration of students and staff from across Flinders University. Our entry into the Cruiser class is the Investigator Mark III, designed to be a practically sized roadworthy solar vehicle. We are grateful to have some amazing sponsors backing our entry, accompanying support from our university and community.
04.01.2022 A special thanks to all our page audience, sponsors, university and community for all your generous support. Thank you for following the team representing Flinders University in the Bridgestone World Solar Challenge (BWSC). The Flinders Automotive Solar Team (FAST) is safely in Tennant Creek this evening, making the control stop in time, our team is still in the competition. FAST is on the second day of the BWSC after leaving this morning from Katherine, the first day our te...am experienced some minor delays on the start line before embarking to join the other competitors. Despite this, the Investigator Mark III made significant headway, gaining 170 kilometres, reaching projected speeds and keeping pace with others in the competition. Unfortunately, we experienced another delay, causing us to miss the Daly Waters control stop yesterday, and had us set up camp in Katherine. While further investigation was needed, they had to get going as they were under time constraints in this competition and would have time to look more into the cause of the delay in Tennant Creek. While this competition for the Cruiser Class is one of endurance, certain stops must be made to keep pace with other competitors. We are excited to get back on the road tomorrow morning to join the best and brightest from across the globe in this journey across the Australian outback. Thank you for keeping up with our adventures, we will update you whenever possible as signal is rather spotty. Over the next few days, while you wait for updates from our team, please enjoy some content posted by our media staff highlighting our adventures in Darwin and in the workshop throughout this year.
02.01.2022 Meet our Smart Grid Pitch Competition Presenter! Mehrdad Aghamohamadi What is the best thing about studying at Flinders? Studying at Flinders University is a great opportunity! Our university provides students with the best possible interaction with the industry and their future employers. I am collaborating with CSIRO during my PhD program and believe this is a great chance to become familiar with the cutting-edge knowledge.... What do you think we’ll see in the future in Australia for solar power and electric vehicles? Renewable energy sources are boosting the evolution of energy systems worldwide and Australia is one of the leading countries in this context. I believe Australia’s future is happening right now with the huge integration of renewables as the only sustainable energy alternative to meet the current and future energy requirements. What are some must-have songs on your road trip playlist? Nothing else matters - Metallica
