19.01.2022 A CHAMPION IN THE MAKING. Amity Bickley is her name, a pocket Bombshell from the South. At the age of Seven and a half she was discovered by Mario Dovile a Bowls Victoria Club Coach, when he and a group of Volunteers conducted the Bowls Victoria Schools Program on the Mornington Peninsula. Amity was a pupil at Tootgarook Primary School and right from the start Mario could see the potential in Amity. He continues to coach her today. Amity then played Saturday Pennant for... West Rosebud at the age of 9 and astounded all those who she came across whilst playing, competing against bowlers well above her age. She has since joined Mulgrave Bowling Club and her latest achievement was last night 15/11/2017 when she won the 2nd Round Singles Event for the Eastern Rangers Under 25's first to 25, with an overall score of 28 - 19. at the ripe old age of 11 1/2 years. The final of this event is on 6th December at Mt. Waverley Bowls Club. Amity will next be representing Victoria in the under 18's Squad " Victoria Vs South Australia" in Adelaide on the 9th, 10th & 11th January 2018. What a resume, we will certainly be hearing more about this young lady in the future. The Sky's the Limit. All of Amity's achievements would not be possible without the tireless amount of time put in by her parents taking her to practice and the various events she has participated in. See more

15.01.2022 Vale Trevor Harker Bowls Victoria extends its condolences to the family of Trevor Harker - the inventor of the Bowlers Arm - who passed away on Sunday, April 23, 2017. In helping a mate by crafting an artificial Bowling Arm he created a device that has now helped thousands of bowlers all around Australia to continue in the sport they love.... A modest man, Trevor paved the way for the now multiple types of Bowling Arm Devices currently available. Bowls Victoria recognised Trevor by naming the Interstate Bowlers Arm trophy between Queensland and Victoria "The Trevor Harker Shield" and the annual National Contest between the States always commences with a "toast to Trevor Harker" in recognition of his ingenuity and selflessness. Well played Trevor. AUTHOR: BOWLS VIC ADMIN CATEGORIES: BOWLS VIC NEWS TAGS:
