25.01.2022 It was wonderful to have students from Birdwood High School visit Flinders Medical Centre earlier this week, joined by their teacher Heather Makris. Earlier this year Heather had a liver transplant at Flinders, and since then her students and school community have been raising awareness of the importance of organ donation and raising funds to support the hospital’s Liver Transplant Unit. Through a casual day, amazing race event and sausage sizzle the school raised an ama...zing $1,359.50! Director of the Liver Transplant Unit, Dr John Chen, and Liver Transplant Coordinator, Libby John, were grateful to the students and school, and enjoyed speaking with them about some of the ways these funds will be used to make a difference for patients and their families.

20.01.2022 It’s almost Christmas time! And we need YOUR help to make a Christmas wish come true! Time outdoors for kids who are in hospital is beneficial to their health. It can speed up their recovery to get them home sooner. With your help, we want to build a playground and outdoor space at Flinders to make this happen. ... Check out a few of the ideas for the space, from some little playground designers (we’ll be honest, we don’t think the grown-up playground designers will be able to accommodate some of these ideas, but we love to see kids using their imagination!) PLEASE DONATE TODAY to help grant this Christmas wish

19.01.2022 Thanks to OTR who recently donated $2,000 to fund four wellbeing projects across Flinders Medical Centre and Noarlunga Hospital for healthcare workers to reset, recharge and regroup. 18.01.2022 A special shout out to students from Room 3 at Reynella South Preschool and School who set up a drinks and pre-loved items stall at their school market and raised an amazing $250 to support Kids at Flinders! In the lead up to the market, the Year 1 class spent time talking about how children, babies and their families are cared for at Flinders, and counting their hard-earned fundraising dollars afterwards became a fun maths lesson. Thanks Reynella South! ... If you know a school interested in fundraising for Kids at Flinders please reach out we’ve got lots of ideas to get you started.

16.01.2022 A hospital can be a scary place for a young child. And it is equally distressing for worried parents. Two-year-old David’s mum, Chloe, says It’s extremely hard being there and I don’t ever want to leave David. There was a time that I left him, and he deterioratedI’m still haunted by that. An outdoor space would make a huge difference for parents like Chloe; a place to go to ‘take 5’ and look after themselves during these often scary and anxious times. ... Please donate today to fund a playground and outdoor space at Flinders. You’ll be supporting sick kids, and their families, during scary times. DONATE TODAY at the link below.
