24.01.2022 This is the last day to complete the GPSN survey! One lucky participant will win $100, and the University with the most participants will win $500 to their local GPSN club to use how they wish! Get in quick, entries close today. 22.01.2022 High School Wellbeing Workshop kicked off at Bialik College in Melbourne today! Our team of six, 2 medical students from the University of Melbourne (GPSN UniMe...lb) and 4 from Monash University (GPSN Monash) combined to deliver a fun, interactive workshop to 80 Year 12 students undertaking their VCE this year! This session promoted positive & healthy mindsets and also included meditation sessions. We can all remember feeling incredibly stressed in high school, and this is a great way to give back to our community. Applications are still open for volunteers across Australia! 20.01.2022 Let’s get behind our fellow Flinders clubs for a good cause!!! (Aside from iso-gains)

18.01.2022 Welcome to the new year! We are so excited for the income of new students into the medical course at Flinders University. We will be holding an O’Week lunch for all new members. Come and talk to us about what GPSN can offer you.

16.01.2022 Flinders GPSN would like to extend a helping hand to those who are currently in isolation, working from home, studying at home or in any way affected by the corona virus. We would like to stress the importance of self isolation if you or anyone you have recently been in contact with has returned from overseas or if you think you may have been in contact with someone with corona virus. When you are in isolation it is important that you monitor your symptoms. Be cautious of a ...fever, cough, sore throat, tiredness or shortness of breath as well as chills, body aches, runny nose and muscle pain. If you do develop these symptoms you should arrange to see your doctor for an urgent assessment. You should telephone the health clinic/hospital before arriving and let them know of your recent travel history or exposure to another patient with a confirmed case of corona virus. To prevent the spread of the virus it is important to wash your hands frequently with soap and water, cover your cough and sneeze, if unwell, avoid contact with others and exercise personal responsibility for social distancing. Being in isolation can be lonely, stressful and boring. Make sure you keep in contact with family members and friends via telephone, email or social media. Ask them how they are doing, and make sure to check in. Keep up with your daily routines where possible, such as eating and exercising. Wake up at your normal time, and try not to work from your bed. Do things to help you relax such as mediation or yoga. Take the opportunity with the extra time to do activities you usually would not be able to do. If you are still unsure about anything, or have any further information, the Australian Government Department of Health has some great online resources which we have listed below: Corona Virus Isolation Guide: https://www.health.gov.au//coronavirus-covid-19-isolation- Corona Virus Health Alert https://www.health.gov.au//novel-coronavirus-2019-ncov-hea Current Situation https://www.health.gov.au//coronavirus-covid-19-current-si

08.01.2022 Good evening everyone, Although the last week has been hectic and confusing, we hope you are all looking after yourselves and your loved ones. For the foreseeable future, all GPSN events, state and national, have been postponed. The committee will be using this period to communicate with you all, and start the process for our junior committee so we’re ready to kick off once the restrictions are lifted. For the time being, know that GPSN is here to offer any support you may ne...ed. Keep each other safe, stay attuned to current university and government policy, and keep in good spirits- the hard times won’t last forever. All the best with the move to online study, and you’re all in the Flinders GPSN committee and GPSN National Committees thoughts. Brittany Collie, GPSN Chair 2020

03.01.2022 Have you ever thought general practice was too...general? Did you know you could SUB-SPECIALISE as a GP? From obstetrics and gynaecology to mental health to ...sports medicine, GPs have the opportunity to undertake advanced skills or extended skills training in hospital-based, community-based and academic areas depending whether you undergo a RACGP or ACCRM training pathway. It's a shame that we have missed out on some amazing speakers these past few weeks so we're bringing some directly to you. Over the next few weeks, we're taking the general out of general practice and sharing some experiences from GPs who have sub-specialised in vastly different and niche areas to give you an insight to where general practice can take you and beyond - watch this space!
