25.01.2022 For the 4th year in a row (can't seem to find earlier records) we've taken the Dan team medals home. Again we also have golds in individuals for flinders members in both the Individual men's and women's divisions (our female players Kanako and Jacquelin took both first and second in the women's respectively and then Byron in the men's division). Well done to the whole club for supporting the team and also to the volunteers from Flinders who gave up their day to support Sout...h Australian Kendo. Thanks as well to organising team and especially James from UniSA for getting the ball rolling so we could compete this year COVID-Safe.

23.01.2022 From this Wednesday members should bring their bogu/ full uniform to training. While we will not be doing full-contact training until the 25th onwards we will be easing into training while wearing all equipment.

22.01.2022 Hi team! Just to let you know that practice is still suspended till further notice. To confirm: there is NO practice tonight. To members old and new: get your equipment orders in at your earliest possibility or you might have to organise it yourself. You do this by checking the e-bogu website and send an e-mail to: [email protected] detailing the items you want to order. To prospective members: feel free to drop us a line as well, and we'll be sure to e-mail you once we get going again. And if any of you are looking for some generic kendo literature to keep you going in the meantime, feel free to flick us an e-mail as well. Cheers.

20.01.2022 Good luck to all SA kendokas grading and competing today! Wishing you all firm footing and swift swords . Feel free to put photos and updates here. And P.S. don’t forget daylight savings

19.01.2022 Hi everyone! Anyone wishing to place an order through E-bogu with the club please contact us via the email below within the week! Thanks... [email protected]

16.01.2022 Hi team! Just writing to let you know that these two essential staples for any self respecting kendoka: Miyamoto Musahi’s ‘Go rin no sho’ and Sun Zi’s ‘Bing Fa’, can be found at QBD Marion at a bundle price of $30, or $20 individually. The illustrations alone almost make them worth it. Some exciting news in this grim Covid winter.

16.01.2022 Hi everyone, this is just confirm that with a heavy heart KCFU is as of now also postponing any training session indefinitely. This in line with the other SAKA clubs and the policies of Flinders University. We will provide updates as we go, but until further notice stay home and stay safe. Hope to see you all again soon. Cheers //KCFU

12.01.2022 On behalf of KCFU, a big, heartfelt thank you to everyone who showed up and made our not-kangeiko a great event. A fantastic start to the year and a pleasure to see so many of you. May we all meet and cross swords soon again. Feel free to add your own photos or comments reflecting on the day. Here’s to a better 2021. Cheers and ganbatte!

11.01.2022 Hi guys, i made a more realistic version of the back, taking in some of the feedback i have received. Now, we need to decide on whether everyone wants to add their name to the shoulder? as it was pointed out, it is all or none, so we should do this as a majority

08.01.2022 Hi All, As you are likely aware with the government mandate that all gymnasiums and indoor sporting venues close their doors all Kendo activity in SA is current...ly on hold indefinitely. Stay tuned for updates on when this may be lifted, however some estimates are currently in the 6+ month range. In the meantime, I encourage everyone to do their best in maintaining or increasing their fitness levels at home while practicing social isolation! For those without gym equipment there are plenty of body-weight exercises you can do - YouTube is your friend here! And there is always suburi. Stay safe everyone.

08.01.2022 Hi everyone, I have made some colour and gradient modifications to the backs of the jackets. Let me know if any of these look good to you, or just general feedback. The more feedback i get, the better i can make the final product. Thanks guys, - Sergei

07.01.2022 We are back on for (non-contact) training! We are also dedicating portions of the class to Tankendo and Jukendo basics! So for those interested please come down to try them!

07.01.2022 Hi everyone, you're hereby invited to the club's AGM, scheduled for Saturday February 27. It will commence at approximately 11:30am after that day's morning practice. We will do a repeat of last year and have it on Flinders campus and order in a bit of food to go with the meeting. If you have any matters you would like to have raised on the agenda, please send an e-mail to [email protected], reply below, or send us a message. Looking forward to seeing you all there. Cheers // KCFU

06.01.2022 Hi team! Just to confirm, there's no practice tonight, as the hall is taken for exams. We'll be back in full effect on Wednesday 25 November. For those of you thinking about joining, think no more and just show up. We start at 6:00pm, no prior knowledge or special equipment needed, we'll guide you through it no worries ;) See you all on the 25th! Also, get your equipment orders in as soon as you can: [email protected]. Cheers!

03.01.2022 Hi everyone, due to the latest development we’ve been instructed to shut everything down for now. We do not have a confirmed date for when things will resume, but we’ll let you know as soon as we do. Be well, be safe.

01.01.2022 Hi team! This is to let you know that the club will be placing an order with E-Bogu. If you've been thinking about getting a new uniform, that spare shinai, or a new zekken - now's the time! Have a browse on their website (link below) and send us a PM with your order. Be sure to include size and colour options, et c. If in doubt, grab a senior and have a chat -- better to get it right than to end up with the wrong equipment because you thought it silly to ask ;) The club will handle the order and payment, you pay the club. It doesn't get any easier than that ;) Cheers // KCFU https://www.e-bogu.com/Top-Quality-Kendo-Equipment-s/1.htm
