22.01.2022 Whatever the next few months hold for us all, I dunno. And as for all the fine establishments which support my little business, I dunno. Neither do they. Ive been dealing with them for yearssssss. These places are where you go to eat my mussels, no where else, bar my little van, on the beach at flinders. If you can, support the hospitality industry when and wherever you can. I marvel at the creativity of the chefs in all of these kitchens. This photo depicts a mussel that is open. Here she is doing her best to throw a leg over the Whitemark wharf many years ago at high tide with a bit of wind on. 10.01.2022 Due process is finally catching up with this behemoth of a project. Also, a couple of understated facts. In each litre of seawater discharged there will be .1mg... of chlorine. Doesnt sound like much does it? Unless my maths is wrong, that is 4.5 tonnes of chlorine per day discharged into Westernport. Per day. Four point five tonnes. Four thousand and five hundred kilograms of chlorine. Per day. AGL have said there may be up to forty ships a year discharging gas at Crib Point. Each ship will take up to six days to discharge their cargo. Forty ships, times a six day turnaround =two hundred and forty days discharging chlorinated seawater. 240 days x 4.5 tonnes equals 1080 tonnes of chlorine into the same spot each day per year. Go figure. The other point I will make is that this foreign owned ship, which will more than likely be crewed by foreign workers is.... HUGE. MASSIVE. Stand it on its stern (the blunt end) anywhere in Bass Strait and a third of it will point up into the sky. Big corporations should not be making decisions on what is best for us. See more
